  1. We visited the Team Store the Saturday before Christmas and I checked the view from the far end of the store (closest to the field level seating). From that vantage point the scoreboard site is not visible, but a portion of the outfield grass has been removed to create a work space for construction staff. What little I could see is consistent with the photo to which Invader linked. There probably was more of a view from Friday's but we weren't motivated to go there.
  2. We are listening to WIBA radio's rebroadcast of the 1994 Rose Bowl game and I am surprised at how many of the players' names I recognize.
  3. Yeah, I kind of wish they had just said that. Though with clearer instructions we never would have had this great thread.
  4. High-fives for davego!
  5. The December 24 print edition of the Wisconsin State Journal has a recipe for this very thing. I thought of this thread immediately. To provide some relish tray closure...my S.O. stepped up the other night and called his sister-in-law to see what she expected. The result? Olives and pickles. So he got a selection of olives and pickles, as well as some tart cherries ("just to be different"). We'll put it together in a little bit and while I will not promise to change my avatar to the relish tray, I will aim to eventually post a photo of the results. I acknowledge that the end result is a little anticlimactic, compared to some of the fine and entertaining suggestions posted above. Thanks for the responses! The S.O.'s family is fully Italian - there was a pretty awesome antipasto tray last year, awesome enough so the people who brought it last year might well have been asked to bring another one this year. I think it was from Tenuta's. I'm looking forward to supper tonight.
  6. Not going to lie, I would be all about a Rob Deer bobblehead. I am pretty sure I am the only UW-Madison alumna to ever display a Rob Deer growth chart on a dorm room wall for the 1987-1988 school year. (It's a near certainty that it was the only Rob Deer growth chart ever displayed in that dorm, as it was all-women at the time.)
  7. I am reasonably confident that those are the bobblehead dates. Even if one turned out to be, say, nesting doll day, you could always trade your nesting doll for a bobble you really wanted. (Note: I stated "nesting dolls" as an example. I have no inside information on next year's giveaways.)
  8. One of the men who takes parking $ or passes at the entrance to the Giants/Molitor lot struck up a conversation with us once about our car, and so we've gotten to know him over the last few seasons. When we entered the lot before the last home game in September this year, he gave us his full name and address and asked for ours so we could exchange Christmas cards. His card arrived today. How sweet is that?
  9. Oh, now, that sale was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Besides, one of the relatives at the Christmas Eve gathering works for Koops', so bringing Silver Spring might start a fight.
  10. His tats look a world better than Corey's.
  11. I was looking through WOAH SOLVDD last night too, but not to combat insomnia. There's a ton of "ifs" between now and then yet, but rereading the 9/28/2008 game thread (which can be found in WOAH SOLVDD) and thinking about the Brewers' recent roster activity made me wonder if the 2008 excitement might in fact be repeated.
  12. You know, we never have a good excuse to buy lil' smokies. Maybe now we do...except we will be driving two hours with this relish tray masterpiece and we would not be able to keep the smokies warm. I don't know how I'll incorporate these great ideas by Friday.
  13. I vote one wears "13-K" and the other wears "13-H."31 is now available. What did Zach B wear in the minors?

  15. Ah, yes, the number of Zacks/Zachs. Let the printing of the shirseys commence!
  16. Thus begins at least a temporary Counsecourt platoon at shortstop. Welcome back, Chicken.
  17. Do you think Zack Greinke will do interviews with the Milwaukee media this week? Because maybe someone could sneak in a question about his favorite holiday relish-tray eats. I am certain if I put together a Greinke-approved relish tray, it would be permanently above criticism. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

  19. Any word on what time an announcement might be? We should have a chat.
  20. Greinke is a trending topic on Twitter. I have a window open and am just watching the new tweets mount. 324...nope, 331 now...350. Dang. Who do you suppose wears #23 now?
  21. Thank you! Apparently "Relish tray (olives etc)" is supposed to be enough for me to figure out what exactly they want. This assignment came from the same household that laid a guilt trip on the S.O. two Christmases ago when it was snowy/icy and he decided not to make the drive to Kenosha. "It's not that bad here!" (apparently not caring that we had several snowier counties to drive through before getting "here") Excuse us for wanting to stay out of a ditch on Christmas Eve. So I probably would be at least mildly berated if I called to ask what the heck they expect in a relish tray. We'll put something together and they'll have to like it. I think as long as there are black olives for the kids to put on their fingers, it'll be OK. However, since replies so far have been entertaining, keep them coming! even if it is borne of Greinkewatch excitement.
  22. That's neat, Invader. I wonder if the Stagg Bowl staff get tired (or when they got tired) of this UWW-Mount Union matchup. After (now) six years, you'd think the casual D-3 fan would be at least somewhat turned off. "Is this an ESPN D-3 Classic? Nah, it's just those two purple teams again."
  23. OK, silly question here...the S.O.'s family has assigned us a "relish tray" to bring for Christmas Eve dinner. The extent of the instructions says, "Relish tray (olives etc.)." I haven't paid attention to what typically appears at this family gathering because frankly, I usually see the olives, say bleah to myself and move on to other foods. The S.O. is less detail oriented than I am and does not have any ideas either. So what else would you put in a relish tray? What do you like? I'm open to trying your suggestions and if the S.O.'s family dumps on it, blaming some anonymous guys on the internet. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Thanks in advance. (I'm hoping some of you visiting this weekend for the Greinkewatch will stop by and comment.)
