  1. If he wears #3 then I would once again have a player name for each of my neighborhood's bus route options. Currently I can choose from the Yount, McClendon, or Yost/Felipe Lopez buses on weekdays; Dickerson on weekends. However, for now I'll guess #10...and we'll find out for sure very shortly. Edit: Scooped by crewcrazy! /shaking fist/
  2. I am endlessly impressed with Ron's approach to the Adenhart tragedy. I feel very good about having this guy in the Brewers' organization. There will be a press conference at 1:30 CT today officially introducing Roenicke. Let the uniform-number debate begin. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif As a player, his uniform number history includes 50, 40, 21, 41, 10, 17 and 39. A Google image search shows he wore 10 with the Angels.
  3. Dang, that's frightening (not that you need someone to point that out). Recalling that my sister experienced exercise-induced asthma when she marched in the Wisconsin Band back in the day, I googled the phrase "exercise induced anaphylactic shock" and got some results that, as a hypochondriac, I knew better than to click on. But were I in your position and talking to a physician, I'd ask if that's even possible, and what kind of physician could diagnose it. Good luck.
  4. What, he was that heavily on the Valentine-as-savior bandwagon?
  5. http://images.yuku.com/image/png/bb335ea447729823d6bf9d04484df72c186e957_t.gif This hire prompted Robin19 to change his avatar! Nooooooooooo! Turn back the clock!
  6. I think the ticket sales staff have their work cut out for them this off-season, no matter who manages next. I'll admit that I was ambivalent at best about Valentine. I was concerned that he'd be more about Bobby V than about the Brewers. Hiring Bob Melvin would have led to the overuse of Melvin Bros., and to confusion of which Melvin we were talking about in any given post. I think that would have been the least exciting choice. I had kind of been rooting for Joey Cora, based on little more than a gut reaction, but I'm open to welcoming our new Roenicke overlord.
  7. I'd guess "RENN-eh-key." Note that I don't know for sure myself, so no need for embarrassment. At least it lends itself to the word "Roenicked." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif
  8. ThePurpleStorm, where was that photo taken? It's giving me flashbacks to Chadbourne Hall, but I suppose a lot of dorm rooms are configured that way.
  9. Yep. How many of us thought the same thing as soon as that game ended?
  10. Aww, and here I just today flipped my Brewers pet calendar to find Ed and his Shih Tzu, Cosmo, grace the November page. Thanks, Ed, and good luck.
  11. I've found one taker for the issues lined out above, and another taker for the rest of the lot. Thanks for your interest!
  12. I wasn't at that game, but was listening on the radio at my mom's house (since it was Easter and I was thus home from college for the weekend). I thought to pop a cassette tape into my brother's Radio Shack "Realistic" stereo and recorded the postgame highlights, some of which I can still recite by heart. Like, " Bobby Valentine made a pitching change, which he may or may not regret..." Nice find, NYChez, though I wonder how on earth you stumbled across that (unless it's your family).
  13. I was unable to see any of Game 3, but I still remember Colby Lewis getting a hit or two off Yo in June, so I'm not surprised he was their stopper, at least for last night. Now that there cannot be a WS sweep this year, we'll definitely have November baseball.
  14. In Division 5, Darlington kicked a last-second field goal to beat Stratford 23-20. This might sound more impressive had they not been leading Stratford 20-0 at the half, but you advance however you can. The Stratford team and fan base had to drive four hours to get to the game. That had to be a longer drive home.
  15. On Verona Road today a car in front of us had a CORA J license plate. It was either a firefighter or EMS plate, though, so I'm not confident it's a sign. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  16. I still miss that Korean comic frame that used to be Invader's avatar, back before the goat. Edit: No, wait, someone else had the Korean comic frame. Invader had the Simpsonized Prince eating a pizza. My bad!
  17. You know, I don't know which silver lining I prefer: losing to the "eventual world champions" or seeing the team that broke your heart go down in flames. One could make a case for either.
  18. Today, for I think the first time in my life, I had my teeth cleaned by a male dental hygienist. He was a sub from a temp agency. I hadn't known there were temp agencies for that kind of work. In an obviously well-intentioned attempt to make conversation, he asked, "do you still work, or are you retired?" That was the first time in my (44 year old) life I've been asked that question. Dude was pretty young, but geez.
  19. Once I remembered (I think during the NLDS) that Mota is now a Giant, I realized with a degree of horror that he has now been in three consecutive postseasons. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/indifferent.gif
  20. Get hold of a white-hair wig, skip caffeine for a day and you could be Ken Macha. Brewers gear is optional by now! though it might help casual fans identify your costume.
  21. Well, Robin19, your goal is all but halfway met. Check out the meltdown from Derek Holland: 3 batters, 3 BB, 13 pitches, 1 for a strike, 0 outs recorded. That sounds almost Breweresque. And that's just one of the bottom-of-the-8th pitchers for Texas. Ai yi yi.
  22. They got more runs...just gave up too many more. Boy, that's a sloppy looking box score; but I'm still glad it's two infrequent WS participants.
  23. Aww, I'm jealous of fans whose teams are still playing. Listen to how loud the Giants fans are, and the game hasn't even started.
