  1. Yeah. Though we obviously aren't privy to the whole story, I detect kind of a Jim Edmonds-esque vibe - though with Diego it was arguably more "if you play me enough" than "if you pay me enough." Plus even if the negotiations are close, aren't teams supposed to hold off on confirming these types of moves during the World Series? Though maybe Valentine's way is to disregard that kind of nicety. And we know the Brewers are just not classy anyway.
  2. The National Weather Service page isn't even loading for me. Nice timing.
  3. It's funny you should use the word "apocalypse," as I have been semi-jokingly using the word Wind-pocalypse today.
  4. You wouldn't think there'd be reason to post about a tornado watch for southwest/south central Wisconsin on October 25...yet here we are, under a watch until 6:00 AM. Clearly Mother Nature isn't interested in whether hawing gets any sleep tonight. And this is the prelude for two days of high wind. Check out the extent of the wind advisories (for as long as the image lasts, at least): http://i.imwx.com/images/maps/special/severe_us_600x405.jpg
  5. In no way do I want to belittle the zeal for bobblehead collecting that several of us around here have...but I think that is a great idea. Walking through the parking lot after the Lyle Overbay bobblehead game, I found an Overbay forearm broken from the main bobble but still holding the bat. I'm not sure where I have it right this minute, but I kept it, thinking it's got to have some purpose someday. Sticking it out of the ground would have a degree of entertainment value.
  6. Aww, seriously? Aren't you cool! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. This was the largest auto that I could afford. Am I therefore to be made the subject of fun? No, TLB, you were not the only one to instantly think of that Simpsons episode. Unfortunately, since I am the utter opposite of a tall guy, there's nothing substantive I can contribute to this thread otherwise.
  8. This bugged us too, the other night. Perhaps now that all that's left is the World Series, they'll go back to their World Series theme. Of course, every time the NFL on FOX is on I'll now be thinking, "Giddyup, giddyup, giddyup, let's go..." Thanks, Patrick425. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. The Onion weighs in, awesomely as usual: A-Rod Finally Leads Rangers To World Series
  10. San Francisco Giants vs. Texas Rangers in the Fall Classic! All times Central. Game 1 (at San Francisco): Wednesday, October 27, 6:57 PM - SF 11, TEX 7 Game 2 (at San Francisco): Thursday, October 28, 6:57 PM - SF 9, TEX 0 Game 3 (at Texas): Saturday, October 30, 6:57 PM - TEX 4, SF 2 Game 4 (at Texas): Sunday, October 31, 7:20 PM - SF 4, TEX 0 Game 5 (if necessary, at Texas): Monday, November 1, 6:57 PM - SF 3, TEX 1, SF wins the Series
  11. No kidding. Texas-San Francisco is a series I'll actually watch. Take that, FOX!
  12. I first noticed the 'partial season ticket customers should expect to be placed in the terrace for postseason games' statement in the 2009 season seat holder handbook, so that's not new. It caught my eye at the time because like Patrick425's family, we had been assigned loge seats for the 2008 postseason - in almost the same area, if I recall correctly. Our season ticket tenure and regular season location are very similar to his, so our placement in the 213 area would be consistent with the Brewers taking customer tenure into account. Since there are four preset 20-game schedules, each of thousands of seats is the "regular" location for up to four fans, but you can't assign all four their "regular" seat. And this doesn't even include the fan's choice customers, or the 9-pack customers. Relocating many if not most partial season ticket customers to the terrace may be the most workable way to get everyone who's made the season ticket commitment somewhere in the park. I'd rather be told up front to expect upper-bowl seats (and maybe be happily surprised later) than told to expect loge or field seats and be let down. I'd hope that the Brewers give some weight to customer longevity when seating decisions need to be made. It would be interesting to learn more about how they make those decisions, but I'm sure that's proprietary information. Plus - though I hate to say it - pondering where we all might sit for the next postseason is kind of putting the cart before the horse...at least until the new manager is named. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  13. I wouldn't be surprised if they continue to sport those patches in 2011. As for the teary eyed kid, if he's really that into the Yankees - as much as we are into the Brewers - I am willing to cut him some slack. If I'd had the opportunity to be in St. Louis to see the Brewers' 1982 season end, I would have been this person, only with a different logo on: http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slides/photos/000/377/131/cubs-fan-crying_display_image.jpg?1283589990 Though if my crying face were forever connected on the internets with Brewers' futility, I'd be even more unhappy. Anyway, congratulations to Texas and Rangers fans. We know what it's like to wait a long time.
  14. Thanks for the clarification. I would like to emphasize that when in doubt, check with a ticket rep, and do not rely solely on hawing. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif And if the complimentary media guide is back for 2011, woo hoo.
  15. Wow. If I'd been watching this as it aired, I'd have wondered if I were hallucinating. Thanks for the clip.
  16. That's awesome, RyDogg. If a Listach hire comes to pass, we'll expect you to regularly update us on your baseball-related dreams. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. I would say you're not alone on this, but it's probably more of a Brewerfan Political Scene tangent.
  18. That "God Bless America" singer in tonight's NLCS game seems to have ended the debate on whether to remove one's hat for the song. Edit: OK, I've learned something tonight. The singer is a member of the cast of Beach Blanket Babylon, a long-running musical revue in SF, where wearing ginormous hats is normal. http://desmond.yfrog.com/Himg210/scaled.php?tn=0&server=210&filename=caozp.jpg&xsize=640&ysize=640
  19. I can't speak for anyone but myself, of course, but my thinking on Peterson is that if his approach represents a significant sea-change for the pitching part of the Brewers' organization, one year is probably not enough time to declare yay or nay. So while I would stop short of saying I have unconditional faith in Rick Peterson, I am open to his staying on. Getting back to the field manager search, I'm intrigued by the narrowing down of candidates, though I doubt there will be an announcement before the postseason ends.
  20. Wow. Given your photos of bobblehead carnage, I am kind of surprised - and happy for you - that the overall damage wasn't worse. Still, ouch.
  21. Plus the year they did that little meet-and-greet, the Brewers went to the playoffs. You'd think that would encourage them to do it again. That's been my favorite special perk to date (apart from the media guide), though it helped that we drew Corey, and with the S.O. running the Crazylegs race that morning, I got the opportunity all to myself.
  22. I didn't get that specific feeling, but yeah, it often seems to come down to starting with an ace on the mound.
  23. Because not every school makes the football tournament, the WIAA can't divide qualifying teams into divisions until the field is fully set. A school whose enrollment is very large (like Kenosha Tremper) can feel confident they'll be in D-1 and really small enrollment schools can reasonably assume they're in D-7 (or whatever the smallest division is for football), but otherwise where your school lands depends on your enrollment vs. those of the other qualifiers. As for the number of schools in the football tourney every year...I don't know if it varies or not, and will leave that for someone who follows this more closely than I do. I'm just glad my alma mater managed to salvage two wins on the year this go-round. Edit: oops, Beerambassador described it a little better. Should have previewed.
  24. Aha. Here is the asterisked statement under the "2011 seating and pricing" list: On our invoice, under Three Ways To Renew, the option for placing a 20% deposit by November 19, 2010 does list dollar figures for the down payment and remaining balance (due by 1/14/2011) which add up to the discounted "pay in full" amount. So Patrick425 is correct: the Brewers are looking for a commitment by 11/19, and at least a 20% deposit, in order to get the existing season pricing. Full payment by 11/19 gets you your choice of thank-you gift. I took "renew" to mean "pay in full," which is possibly just what the Brewers were hoping I'd do.
  25. That the 2011 packet mentions checking your SSH handbook (once tickets arrive in spring) for the voucher for a complimentary scoreboard message request form was what caught my eye. For the last few seasons, the back of the SSH handbook has included the media guide voucher. Then I checked the 2010 renewal packet (yeah, I save stuff) and that specifies a media guide. I appreciate that the Brewers offer an alternative to the NYCE club passes, because that feature of MP doesn't appeal to everyone (like Patrick425 and me). I'm not completely sold on the ticket upgrade myself - again, like Patrick425, we like our seat locations, as evidenced by the fact that we make a point of committing $ upfront to secure them. Plus I can't tell exactly the "next higher-priced" location would be for our packages. If it's based on existing season ticket prices, the next level up from our loge infield seats would be loge diamond box. So we could sit in row 5 of our section instead of row 8? Again, we will most likely pay in full by November 19, but mainly to lock in the lowest price on the seats we already like. The early payment incentives are not unappreciated, but not the primary motivator for the hawing party.
