  1. I'd like to just irrationally mention that Mat could really make himself a legend with this AB.
  2. If this series has to be this frustrating, the games could at least be shorter. Ah, Ryan. I don't know whether to be pleased that you finally jacked one, or jerked around because you're trying to get my hopes up.
  3. The crowd still sounds vocal and boisterous. It must be 75% school kids. Oh, and you could figure Prince would get a hit to lead off the 8th. Edit: It'd be nice to see a different Manny get rocked on the mound...
  4. Well, a NL West team with a losing record who's riding a hot/lucky streak this past week, maybe related to the managerial change...but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck.
  5. I thought Ryan was the king of swagger. I think some swagger would have been useful there.
  6. Well, consider the source. Seth? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  7. If you go to brewers.com/webgem, then click on "Buy Tickets Now," you're taken to a page where all you can do is enter the promo code.
  8. I'm going to guess purple = royalty = fit for the king of swagger. The font looks a little fuchsia, though. Today, it looks a bit too "Rockies" for me, but after Colorado's out of town it might not bug me. In the past, we have had people sign up solely to promote a product/service/cause, and it has been a problem at times. I think that's why some expressed concern.
  9. I think the deal of the "webgem" is considered to outweigh the season ticket status. We used the webgem for the Colorado series and were charged the fees; but we also got loge infield tickets for $25 each, plus four sodas, two bags of peanuts and two bags of crackerjack. In every instance that we've avoided ticket fees due to our season ticket holder status, it's been when dealing directly with our ticket rep, by phone or email. Since that has worked wonderfully for us, I've rarely purchased Brewers tickets online.
  10. Wow - and all those H players out of the lineup today. Just saying.
  11. Wow. If you don't count silent Hs, this is an H-free lineup. Well, here's your chance, bench. My 9 year old nephew is going to this game. The Brewers are 1-2 lifetime when he attends. I'd like to see that record evened up so he can get past .500 when we take him later this month.
  12. I'm mildly dismayed that the eight-game win streak we'd enjoyed with my mojo jacket and the SO's Power 50 shirt was derailed by George of the Freaking Roses. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Though I think it was more the Brewers' hangdog offense than JDLR bringing the unhittable filth. (There's a couple of phrases from an earlier era of Brewerfan.) On the up side, we can wash the power 50 shirt again! And I was happy to meet whizkid in section 223 tonight.
  13. Well, from the 1966 through 1969 seasons there wasn't a Milwaukee team to follow. This is partly how my S.O. came to be raised a Cubs fan - the seasons with no Wisconsin MLB team fell when he was age 9-12. Fortunately, he's grown out of the cub fan thing and is solidly on the Brewers' side now.
  14. Lew could also pay homage to Lew Burdette of Braves lore. Along those lines, consider Eddie (for Mathews) or Spahn (c'mon Spahnie!). If you're considering general Milwaukee connections, how about Gille/Gillie? Yes, I am in the mood for custard. For names that are unmistakably (if not always positively) Brewer related: Chad Carne Estrada DeJean Ben and/or Sheets Jenks G-Whiff CC Ginter (free Ginter!) Russell and/or Branyan Gabe (either Gross or Kapler) Brooks and/or Kiesch Treb (full name Trebelhorn) Most of my ideas will work better if you are getting a male dog. Good luck and be sure to tell us your selection.
  15. I wonder if Tbadder means any short player. We could call it the Eckstein Effect.
  16. Kohl's had those shirts in 2008. Maybe one will turn up on a clearance rack.
  17. Not like I used to in Rickie's early days. Maybe I'm just accustomed to the ambiguity by now.
  18. Two administrators from my workplace bought our tickets for tonight. Braden: don't make me look bad!
  19. D'oh, I could have just waited to see if 6/10 would be a Pedro night instead of buying tickets in advance like a sucker. Thanks, as always, Pedro.
  20. Just bumping this thread to give hope, blessed hope, to those of you craving chocolate covered bacon that you don't have to make yourself.
  21. Were enough people left (and awake) to cheer at the end of Major League?
  22. As a subscriber to the "all-star curse" theory - despite the irrationality of doing so - I don't know if I trust any Brewers other than Ryan and Trevor to withstand the curse.
  23. For what it's worth, the NWS Sullivan website says the Union Grove tornado was reported by a trained spotter.
  24. Imagine the Cub fan and the Brewer fan uniting in hatred for Carlos Zambrano. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together...mass hysteria!
