  1. I swear I'm not saying this to be facetious, but Kalas was also the voice behind the Puppy Bowls on Animal Planet. He made the Puppy Bowl better. RIP.
  2. Not to sound snarky, but with ESPN orchestrating the telecast, are you surprised that they would focus on cub fans? The comments from this whole series are persuading me to pretty much never stray from the loge family section during cub games, from now on. Rev, there's also a "veggie" (soy) dog available at the concession nearest section 117 or so. I'm not a vegetarian, but I prefer it to a regular hot dog - way less salty. The same product was available at Gorman's Grill last year, but I didn't check for it last night.
  3. I wouldn't count on getting the soda coupon without the parking stub. If you pay cash upon entering, there's a stub on the receipt you get to detach and bring in. We bought general parking passes in advance and simply bring in the whole of the stub we get from the parking lot guys.
  4. Ohh, the Dream Police? I like Mark DiFelice even more, just upon hearing that. I did figure out Manny Parra's warmup song in 2008 (during the off-season, so I didn't add it to the list above): "I'm Comin" by Silkk The Shocker Fans attending on Tuesday should be able to see whether it's changed or not. I never could figure out CC Sabathia's warmup music. I'd have liked to get it, too.
  5. My only gripe with the baked potatoes is that the broccoli potato included one floret and a LOT of broccoli stalk. I'd like to see that ratio even out a little. But otherwise, yeah, good stuff. Plus they now serve it in a little tray - much more manageable than the round plates they used in '08.
  6. He used that part of last year too (I think at the end of the season). If I recall correctly, he changed fairly often in 2008, so I won't be surprised if he returns to a song.
  7. If you have paper grocery bags around the house, wrap a magnet in that before labeling and postaging. The paper's about as heavy as a manila envelope, and you wouldn't have to buy manila envelopes. Just be sure to tape it decently - packing tape, not scotch. The post office will not accept masking tape on a package.
  8. I noticed that "Stronger" by Kanye West was playing while Big Seth warmed up last night. I don't know if that means it's "his song," though. If he had a song in 2008, that wasn't it.
  9. He haunts you in every manner. If it's any consolation, the only reason I didn't have three Ned Yost mini bobbles to giveaway is because my 5-year old daughter snapped the head off one of them. I hope this helps. Did you save the parts? I'm sure FTJ could do something therapeutic with them.
  10. Indeed. Corey is the reason I have any country music at all on my iPod. I was trying to catch songs tonight but there were these cub fans around us making a lot of noise. The walkup music for Counsell, Hardy, Soup and Kendall did not change from 2008. Ryan has something different, and I wish he would switch back to either of the songs he used last year. Ewizabeff, any help? You were gold on catching these tunes last year.
  11. And it's a great fit! Thanks. If the Brewers win Wednesday when I wear it, it'll officially be a good luck jacket. (I kept it in the Kohl's bag tonight, since I already had a jacket with me, and that clearly did not help the home team.)
  12. Well.... In my traditional quest to find at least one positive thing to say about every game I attend, I would have to say I've been in worse cub climates. Also, Kevin Gregg must really suck, because his ERA is currently worse than Jeff Suppan's. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif Our section 217 was probably 75% Brewers fans. Later in the season, I will be giving the stink eye to season ticket holders who obviously sold out to let that 25% in. 218, next door, was worse on the cub-fan-o-meter. In the middle loge, the cub fans were at least relatively benign, especially considering all the material they had to work with. I did begin to dream of Jake Peavy before Soup was finally yanked. On a brighter note, I saw no fewer than four bf.net posters - sgtcluels, ewizabeff, bensheeps and entourage, plus I met tristarscoop and BF. I was happy to see you all. It is nice to get the cubs game out of the way; the only positive in opening the home season against them.
  13. I think I was at that game. I remember Zambrano losing it after the Clark HR.
  14. I don't think we're stuck with them regardless. 1992casey is more knowledgeable about this issue than I am, though, so I'll defer to him or Brian. There is hope.
  15. According to the poster Paul Rigdon, Mr. Pibb plus Red Vines equals crazy delicious. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Every time I see a Mr. Pibb label (or Pibb Xtra), I think of that signature.
  16. It's the hawing home opener - section 217. For what it's worth, the Brewers are 1-0 lifetime vs. the Cubs when we sit in 217. I'm not expecting another "first in a lifetime" experience like that other game, but Brewers, if you could just avoid completely catering to the cub fans in attendance tonight, that'd be great.
  17. I'd like to have a moment of forum silence for those posters who were at Saturday's game. I wince for you.
  18. I'll do my best to not let the cub nation get to me Sunday night...but the best thing about that game might be that I get the cubs game out of the way early on. That's my Achilles heel as a fan. You all think I'm so level-headed...when I'm around that franchise, not so much.
  19. I'd like to bump this thread to give Cory some props. His call of J.J.'s hit (to score the then-go-ahead runs) in tonight's game was robust and he sounded genuinely excited. I'm not sure I would have expected that, given Cory's history with the opponent.
  20. Hill did address his reaction to the last play of the game: Link
  21. There's a tiny silver lining to the later-than-usual start to the season...fewer conflicting dates with the Bucks!
  22. My Wisconsin tax refund was direct deposited on April 3 (7-10 days after I e-filed), so while I cannot speak for all states, I don't think Wisconsin's straits are so dire that they are unable to issue refunds.
  23. Maybe it was your seats. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif You posters (not just bensheeps) are giving me hope to try this home opener thing someday. How awesome for Sam! I love how he comes so prepared for meeting Brewers, with something knowledgeable to say. I've been pondering whether to add a new "player jersey T-shirt" to my collection for 2009, and so far Dave Bush has been my lead candidate. But if there's a shirt for Big Seth this year, I just might do that, based on your account.
  24. Last month, The Onion identified a 6-tool player.
  25. Wow, Robin19, that's quite a bump (assuming your regular seats are where they have been the last few seasons). It's heartening to hear/read that the cub fans were truly in the minority. I think I'm not going to assume this for the rest of the weekend, though.
