  1. Oh, now, he got a zero in the end (even if it took 15 balls and 15 strikes). Edit: Prince looks uncommonly happy in his gameday photo, maybe like a guy who has a contract might look: http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_425902.jpg
  2. Seth McClung's gameday photo for 2009 is not very flattering. http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_425528.jpg
  3. I love how close-knit Brewerfan is. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  4. Oooh, Mota's in. Come on, Corey - "baseballs taking flight..."
  5. I believe I heard a smattering of boos over the radio after Jason (the bulldog) launched that blast.
  6. I don't know the answer, but I'm going to guess it's an image from September 28, 2008 - either Ryan pumping his fist or fans cheering as streamers and confetti fall around them. (Since those images so far have dominated all 2009 items: tickets, media guide, pocket schedules.)
  7. Ohhh, Cory was just telling the story of that awesome Brewer catch in Dodger Stadium last year...by Gabe Gross. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/embarassed.gif Edit: He corrected himself after the commercial break. Kapler. Gabe Kapler.
  8. I'd like to formally state that if I were out on the lawn at Maryvale and Corey hit a home run in my direction, I would try to catch the ball.
  9. Oh, rock the Augustine jersey. Everyone wears Yount (well, not LouisEly). Wasn't it your daughter who adopted Ryan Braun as her favorite back on 9/28/08?
  10. I don't know whether to be impressed, or mildly alarmed, by the collective Brewerfan knowledge of Major League minutiae.
  11. I'm not a parent, but I've been a daughter since birth. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Still, I'm afraid I cannot tell you much, because my father left when I was 13. So I tend to want to strongly advise parents to not abandon their families - but I'd like to think most adults don't have to be told that. Good luck to all of you dads, though, new and veteran.
  12. Yeah. I think he needs to keep the shaggy look. He plays better with longer hair/beard than with the buzz cut he sometimes sported last year.
  13. Somewhat related to GormanHarvey's home opener rituals thread (or at least another way to pass the next few days)...has anyone (else) made a Brewers playlist for an MP3 player? This site has a long history of making me feel like not the only Brewers dork out there, so I'm hoping I'm not the only one who has done this. My playlist includes some Brewers' walkup songs (including very possibly the only two country music songs that will ever grace my iPod - thanks, Corey Hart), Brewers Radio Network wrapups of the big wins from the end of the 2008 season, and of course Turnin' Up the Heat and Brewer Fever 1982. If anyone else has such a playlist, let's share song titles.
  14. I only hope EdgarDiazRocks gets to some Safeco games this year and photographs the Muscle in action. I'd have to bookmark his flickr page, then.
  15. I have not attended a home opener before, but based on the annual "home opener parking lot" threads of past years, not being able to arrive until 30-60 minutes before game time and having 'only' a general parking pass sounds like a bit of a challenge.
  16. The Rev's comments just made me (finally) notice that you're taking the train. Are you going Empire Builder to Seattle, then Coast Starlight, or Empire Builder to Chicago, then California Zephyr? (Or hobo-ing it on freight trains, instead of Amtrak? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif) Either trip should be scenic, and either will take several days, giving you plenty of distraction-free time. I can't help you with San Francisco, but if you have questions about Amtrak, let me know.
  17. Was being discussed last fall - Miller Park food policy changeIndeed, you were not imagining this. I've checked the Brewers' website periodically since January, and only in the last week or two was the "Miller Park A to Z" section published for 2009. Besides the whole don't-gouge-us issue, the prospect of no more carry-in food became an issue for our household when my S.O. was diagnosed as diabetic a week into the new year. A lot of ballpark food is now off-limits to him, but he probably shouldn't go without any food for the length of a game. I interpreted the price hike as applying only to items bought from a vendor in the stands; i.e. if you can resist that 'convenience', you can save a quarter. For example, cotton candy purchased at the kid concession stand appears to cost less than cotton candy sold at your seat.
  18. JSOnline link Prices for ten concession items are being lowered by 25 cents, and prices are rising by 25 cents for items sold by vendors in the stands. Otherwise, concessions cost the same as in 2008. There will also be "value meal" packages (fries/soda/hot dog for $9.75 and fries/soda/brat for $10). Another JSOnline blog entry suggests that the rules on carry-in food and drink have not changed from 2008. Hurray.
  19. If that weren't enough, the sheer variety of goods offered at Woodman's far exceeds any of the stores Peavey mentions. To keep this kind of on-topic (in the what's-bugging-you realm), I will say that I'm leery of produce and 'fresh' meat there (in our household we call Woodman's "home of the fruit fly"). I've also found things like fruit juice on shelf there that are past their "best by" date. But for many, many items, Woodman's is the place to go, even if shopping there is kind of manic sometimes.
  20. Sigh. Well, I at least got a mild chuckle out of this story on the emergence of "Biddy Cent."
  21. Per the Daily Cardinal. Sorry, fellas, apparently she's too distracting.
  22. Not to pry, but I wonder what connection the screen name LaprilOne has to today's date (April 1).
  23. Cory reports it's a contusion. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. I kind of made it the game thread. And the scoring on Corey was double + error; but your advice to him still holds. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  25. Eww, a David Eckstein sighting. /involuntary shudder/ And look at what great attention I've been paying; I did not realize the Padres now have Henry Blanco.
