  1. Yaaaay. Let's end the homestand on a happy note, now.
  2. Ah, Shouse continues instead of Mota. This gives me a little more hope.
  3. Big Seth McClung. Wow. (I thought Seth's performance thus far tonight warranted its own post, despite the resulting consecutive posts.)
  4. Corey didn't surrender during that at-bat. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. They have lost eight games at Gum Field this year, including four times to the Brewers. I know you probably weren't literally seeking an answer, but at least there's kind of a silver lining. Of course, it seems like they've been 'stuck on' 8 home losses for like a month.
  6. Jason Kendall is bulldog tough. Seriously, though, it's funny this is brought up, because when I see Jason Kendall lately, I think Village People: http://splinteredsunrise.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/village_people_narrowweb__300x2880.jpg Kind of a cross between construction guy and biker guy. I've taken to singing bits of Village People songs when he comes up to bat. Hey! Hey! Hey Hey Hey! (It doesn't help that MP often plays Macho Man while trying to get people to pose for the Muscle Cam between innings.)
  7. That would be neat, but I don't know that I'd count on it. 10-4 on the hawing ticket. Wouldn't 11-4 be sweet? I think the Brewers have it in them. (At least that line worked when I said it about Dave Bush on Thursday.)
  8. There's Wade House in Greenbush; though for that to be compelling, it helps a lot if you're interested in buggies and carriages. The restored sawmill there is neat, though; and if your visit coincides with the third Sunday of the month, the Greenbush Dead Citys will be playing base ball (two words, 1860s rules). I see that's not until July 20, though.
  9. Dave Bush no-hit the Cubs into (I think) the 5th inning at MP in 2006. I attended that game and despite my efforts to not think about it, I could not take my eyes off the 0 0 0 for the visitors. It really is mesmerizing. Wes Obermueller did take a no-hitter pretty deep (I want to say the 7th too) vs. the Nationals. This must have been 2005. I remember thinking to myself that if he did finish the job I'd feel compelled to buy an Obermueller jersey - not just a tee, a jersey, because I know how rare a no-hitter can be. So there was admittedly a silver lining for my pocketbook when the Nats finally got a hit. I am embarrassed to say that although I followed the Brewers closely in 1987 (the season spanned my junior and senior years of college), I did not get to see or hear one second of live coverage of the Nieves no-hitter. The game was on at the same time as a required lecture for a class. I brought my walkman to the lecture hall, but to my dismay my professor sat next to me. I found out by returning to my dorm room, where my roommate had written the following on our dry-erase board:
  10. No doubt. Through the latter, scary innings I kept thinking, SportsCenter would have a field day (no pun intended) with this. They probably will anyway, unless the sun still rose in Boston and New York, but at least at the end they'll have to say "The Brewers hold on." Just for the record, I'm still glad that Tavarez is off the 25 man roster. He could every bit as easily had that kind of a 9th. Finally, for all I care, Toronto can feel free to go on a tear now, starting with their next series at PNC.
  11. Bless you, davemakovec. I am giving you a Yuku kudo just for that response.
  12. All right. After further thought, if this was not to be, probably better (as in less bad) to have Lyle break it up than Pluckstein or Rolen, not to mention Kevin Mench or Matt Stairs. I am at a level of acceptance now.
  13. Probably not. There was more than enough mention in the media, including representatives of the Brewers.
  14. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Yet I'll definitely tip my cap to Dave Bush. 1987 showed me that "it" can happen to the least likely of pitchers. (And the bloom is now fully off my Lyle Overbay rose.)
  15. Panthernick beat me to the punch in creating this thread. I checked the Fan Zone last night specifically looking for a Branyan tee and overheard a similar explanation given to another customer. Seriously. If they could stock Mench tees shortly after his mid-season acquisition (Mench!), Branyan tees cannot be impossible. For cryin' out loud, sales to bf.netters alone could probably justify the expenditure.
  16. Curse you, Brewers.com headline writer!
  17. If I can't see Russell go deep in person, or live on TV, or hear the call live on the radio...then the next sweetest thing is seeing Gameday at work, updated to 'In play, run(s)", and knowing there's only one thing that can mean, and just waiting for Gameday to confirm what we already know. At least that was the experience in my office earlier today. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. http://exploretheloft.com/jpgfiles/dm0003a.jpg The Brewers listened to me and the ushers I was talking to last night! We all wanted Tavarez gone first. Yes! (and welcome back to Riske)
  19. Hang tough, Dave Bush. I think you've got it in you, just bring it out for today. (off to post something joyful in a no-more-Tavarez thread, or start one if there isn't one!)
  20. Hey, Lyle Overbay listened when I asked him to GIDP. I knew he was a nice guy. And I also called the game-ending double play. That was satisfying. 10-4 on the hawing season ticket. I will not complain.
  21. Several posters are scheduled to be in attendance tonight. Some of us are driving over flooded bodies of water just to see the Brewers. Make it worth our while.
  22. Well, not to minmize your phone contact's concern, but having to head to Beloit and back up on the way home has been the officially posted detour since last Friday or so. We took it Saturday night, mainly because we didn't want any flooding surprises in the dark (since we knew it had stormed while we were at Saturday's game, but didn't know how much rain had fallen). Other posts in this thread have described unofficial detours that worked for other posters, though if county road closures increase in Jefferson Co, what worked in the last few days might not work tonight. The official detour is certainly lengthy enough to avoid the problem areas. Still, I don't see where access from Madison to Milwaukee is disrupted, thus far, except for maybe a slowdown where the crossover lanes are being built.
  23. Hmm, what do you mean, doesn't sound good? The last I heard, the eastbound lanes were open, though in the vicinity of the Crawfish and Rock rivers they're building crossover lanes so that both EB and WB traffic can cross the "EB" bridges over said rivers. So presumably traffic would be slowed down there. The crossover lanes aren't expected to be ready until this weekend, so getting back to Madison from Milwaukee will require some detour, whether the long official one or one of your own creation. If something's changed since last night, I haven't found evidence of it...yet.
  24. You could just make sure Russell bats last in every round, so that the derby could end once he got ahead of the second place dreamer. Or they could allow everyone else to leave and then admit bf.netters to worship from up close instead of the usual afar.
