  1. I agree with And That's loldog. I certainly hope Milwaukee does not become this desperate. The Tavarez signing would seem worthwhile in comparison.
  2. Is the Home Run Derby limited to players already selected for the all-star game?
  3. Not to burst the Crocs bubble, but if you wear some to MP, you may want to avoid the escalator. Here's why.
  4. Ants in the kitchen.
  5. For those of you who were part of Fan Fest 2007...I'm almost positive Russell's foul landed in the section we sat in that night. Again, I say, Wow! And with this long ball showcase coinciding with Little League Night, imagine how many Wisconsin kids are going to bed tonight dreaming of hitting home runs - like Russell, like Ryan, like Prince, and yep, like Craig. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I just hope their coaches don't let them forget about small ball.
  6. Since this thread has expanded to include discussion on more detours than I-94, I changed its title.
  7. OOOOOOOOOOOOO... You fans are completely ignoring the return of Kevin Mench and Matt Stairs.
  8. Splitter, we're going to Wednesday's game too, and the extent of our strategy is going to be to frequently monitor the DOT incident alerts website. It includes a link to a Google Maps depiction of closed roads.
  9. I must second this. It took over a day for my voice to recover. Then I checked the game recap, which includes Bob's call of the home run. I think the call does justice to the moment. At least it brought me back to Saturday night when I heard it the next day.
  10. Amen on both counts. The main reason I dislike the DOT car accident spot is because a colleague of mine is married to a Josh, and every time this airs I imagine this very nice couple being mangled in a car accident. I suppose if it opens someone's eyes and prevents an accident someday, it'll be worthwhile, but I personally don't need this kind of reinforcement to make me realize it's inadvisable to speed in construction zones. I can only believe that many of us here hate that baseball is now "presented by Kohl's," and specifically that Bob and Jim are required to remind us of it at the end of every half inning by inserting the phrase into the score update. Boooooo. If this intrusion is still in place by the time the Brewers clinch a playoff berth, I would be even happier if Bob or Jim left the phrase out when they announced the triumphant winning score. Because how wrong does this sound with the phrase included: "The final score - baseball presented by Kohl's! - your National League Central Champion Milwaukee Brewers 7, the Chicago Cubs 2." If this ever comes to pass and Bob skips the phrase and gets in trouble for it, I will contribute to paying his fine or whatever. Kohl's, you could find another way to 'present' baseball.
  11. All right. Between brewizard's experience and the product list to which logan linked, I'm willing to soften my stance on Crocs (though I think I said in the first place that they look like they'd have a time and a place). This all terrain style looks handy for a rainy day, and most of the color options are neutral. I stopped sacrificing "style" for comfort some time ago, as I have multiple pairs of Birkenstocks; but most of the Crocs styles are too casual even for my workplace. (Edited to reconstruct the original end of my post.)
  12. I've had to almost give up on bricks and mortar shoe stores. I can't tell you how many times I (finally) see a style I like and they're sold out of my size. I stumbled across a manufacturer whose shoes are consistently comfortable for me (I managed to find a pair to try on in a store once), and now I stick with them and order online. Fortunately, my workplace doesn't shun casual footwear.
  13. I don't know, Scooter. I keep anticipating the McClung starts with a bit of trepidation, and he keeps outperforming my expectations. Props to Big Seth and the others!
  14. Every bit of advertising connected with "Bella Delina" was bad.
  15. Nice work by Big Seth in the first.
  16. Well, we decided to use the posted detour Saturday night, since we knew there had been severe storms in Jefferson and Dane counties and did not know how much rain had fallen. It was long and uneventful - and after the travel problems so many have had this week, there was something to be said for "uneventful." I'd still stop short of calling the detour "crap". For people unfamiliar with the area, or who would prefer to minimize their travel surprises, it achieves a purpose. That said, I hope WB service can be restored soon. Just as a heads-up, though, as we took EB 94 across the Rock River yesterday, there was water by the right guardrail, and apparently the right shoulder of EB 94 is closed at the Crawfish bridge (story). I'd be dismayed, but not surprised, to learn of an EB 94 closure.
  17. Yeah, except that was the crappiest all-around result of the homestand to date. Ah, Jim Powell just finished the "Brewers Rewind" on the radio with Bob's call of the Russell shot from last night. Sigh. And as I type this, JP reports that the roof is opening up. So go figure.
  18. There's a chance of rain/storms yet this afternoon, so maybe that's why the roof is closed.
  19. I'm not over last night's game, but as a fan I'll step up. The Sunday lineup per JS Online: 2B Hernan Iribarren RF Gabe Kapler LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder 3B Russell Branyan CF Mike Cameron C Jason Kendall SS Craig Counsell RHP Seth McClung Come on, Big Seth! Be the stopper.
  20. I've always been partial to George "Ol' Wax Figger" Hemming. And there was possibly no better surname match for our Milwaukee team than Jim Bruske.
  21. Don't most of the Twins fans' signs exist to get Bert to "circle them"? Not to necessarily defend the annoying people near you, Invader, but their TV crew encourages that bit of signage culture. Just looking around last night, I saw what seemed like an unusual number of signs, and figured they were would-be "circleds." I have to admit, the Twins fans in our section Saturday were all right, considering. The guy behind me was extremely loud, but was only cub-esque when the Prince hit was ruled a triple ("I'm glad they got screwed," he said to his companion). I experienced none of the taunting that tends to accompany cub games. The loud guy and another Twins fan sitting near him got up during the extra innings and complained loudly to the usher about having had peanuts thrown at them "for three hours." That's not behavior I would condone (though I wonder if someone else got tired of the loud guy's shtick), but I wouldn't have waited three hours to complain and then act like the usher was negligent. The terrace level guest relations staff had their hands more than full as it was.
  22. I can see a time and place for Crocs - they look like they'd be all right for muddy yard work or something, because couldn't you just hose them off before you come inside from the yard? But I don't like the look of them and wouldn't care to wear them anyplace else.
  23. 'Twas a beautiful sight to see, though even a few hours later, I am still not getting much love from my vocal cords.
  24. Either Corey or "the grass" misplayed a ball in the top of the 9th, which contributed to the Twins scoring their 4th run. Without their 4th run, Russell's blast would have been not only exciting, epic and legendary, but also game-winning. If the Brewers have an ounce of marketing sense in them, they'll have Branyan player tees available, preferably by our next game. God bless the Muscle.
  25. wOOgiE22, please add your graphics and hide my meager post if necessary. I just wanted to post about this game before leaving. http://www.sxc.hu/pic/m/l/li/linuxgeek/471235_reset_button.jpg Here's a reset button, Brewers. Please use it. We're putting the hawing household 9-3 record on the line and driving over (better than through) floodwater to see you play better than last night!
