  1. There's nowhere to go but up, after a game like Wednesday's.
  2. The junior announcer and family last Friday were sitting in 217 (which is where some of our tickets are this season). Maybe that's always where the Brewers put them.
  3. What in the name of...Ben Hendrickson? Glendon Rusch? I don't know.
  4. Ahhh, Bray-dee Clark (as Robb Edwards pronounced it at the park). We'll always have your attempted steal of home in Shea a few weeks ago that left me shaking my head that you would try it, yet grateful that you tried it as a Met and were cut down at the plate by the Brewers.
  5. Has ESPN begun 24/7 coverage of this development?
  6. "Don't give - Ryan Dempster - the baaaaoooooallllll."
  7. I always thought that would be an awesome picture...your 10 year old standing next to a Brewer during the National Anthem. At the last Sunday game we attended last year (the season ender), I noticed that all of the infielders stand together, kind of by second base, with their young counterparts. That would be a cool picture even if you didn't know any of the kids involved. Bensheeps, do you know yet what kind of tickets you get for being a major league moment family?
  8. That is awesome. I always wondered how the Culver's kids (for lack of a better term) found out they were picked. On the 6th, a 13 year old girl was chosen for left field. I would most likely have enjoyed meeting Ryan Braun (or his superstar equivalent) when I was 13. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. It has made the rounds here before, but that doesn't mean it isn't timeless. Stay healthy, Brewers.
  10. We cannot know the full secret to FTJ until we know the Ned Yost tie-in.
  11. Just to post something not about zombies...I checked my financial institution's website tonight and it shows a $600.00 U.S. Treasury direct deposit dated 4/29/2008. Since it's still 4/28 as I write this, I guess the feds believe there's got to be a morning after.
  12. I can't decide if this thread makes me love off days, or hate them. If the Hall and Hart bats are my only choices, then I'd go with the Hart bat, as Corey's half mountain man status is bound to come in handy when trying to bring down the undead.
  13. I finally got around to unpacking ours (we received one of each version at the 4/6 game) and the boxes look the same to me. I have a separate question about the retro Prince bobble, though: The uniform front on ours has retro lettering (BREWERS) but modern lettering and uniform number (FIELDER 28) on the back (though in retro colors). Do all of the retro Prince bobbles look like this? Our other couple of retro bobbles have retro-style numbering on the back.
  14. My "what's bugging you" post earlier today about high schoolers who park their late model cars (often SUVs) on our block - frequently disrupting our trash/recycling pickup - inspired enough replies to warrant its own thread. What was your "ride" in high school; or, for those of you who didn't have a vehicle until after high school, what was your first 'own' vehicle? I will start, and reveal my extreme old-schoolness in the process. I did not have my own ride in high school. In fact, with my father gone and not paying child support, my mom had to trade down to a brownish green 1973 Dodge Dart that was literally all she could afford. I remember not wanting to ride in that thing, much less take my driver's test in it. I did, ultimately, but I walked to school most days (mainly because it was about a 15 minute walk). It was an ugly, disintegrating car, and symbolized perfectly our family's dire financial straits. I didn't have my own car until after college. My first car was a 1990 Corolla, bought new in Green Bay soon after arriving there. A used car probably would have made more financial sense, but the only mechanic I knew was in Monroe, and that seemed a little far for a test drive. Since then I've been a solid if infrequent Toyota customer, switching to a Camry in 1998 and then a Prius last year.
  15. We live a few blocks away from a high school, and although a dead-end street separates us, that doesn't stop kids from parking up our little block with their huge late-model SUVs. This often delays our trash and recycling pickups during the school year, as the city trucks don't have room to maneuver around them. The primary bug here is that our trash and recycling pickups are delayed because these kids "need" someplace free to park. But that they have such big and new rides, as high school students, also bugs me.
  16. They've had Shouse tees in the Fan Zone since last year. I remember seeing them while picking up a different player shirt on a Walkoff Wednesday. I half jokingly asked a Fan Zone employee why Shouse's name didn't appear on the Walkoff Wednesdays form. She didn't even begin to get my point, so I didn't push it. Later in the season, I got a Villanueva shirt on another Walkoff Wednesday, and wrote his name in on the form, just because I could. I did not notice any Walkoff Wednesday promotion while I was at the park for last Wednesday's game - but on Saturday I noticed the Walkoff Wednesday banner hanging in the new fan store by home plate.
  17. I think he means one of the Fan Zone jersey t-shirts. So you may still be the first non-MLB entity with a Shouse shirt design.
  18. Of all the places I've sat in MP, I can't think of any that I really didn't like, view-wise. Our traditional haunt is terrace box, but for a one-series visit, I realize you would like to set your sights higher. (Though if for some reason you can only get in the terrace for any of your games, definitely go with terrace box before terrace reserved.) Our additional 20-pack location this year is the loge infield, which is pretty sweet. It's close to a lot of food options (more than the terrace, at least) and so far, I enjoy the novelty of being in front of the press area and hearing the announcements to press (attendance, who's warming up, etc.). I've sat in the bleachers twice, both right field: once was in the field bleachers, next to the visitors' bullpen (that legendary 2005 fan fest game that many of us recall fondly). The other time was last year, in the front of the Beer Pen. Some of you are no doubt wondering how hawing managed in the Beer Pen, but it was a Thursday night and not a huge crowd. The view was good (especially for our group, which included several Corey Hart fans). In terms of fan behavior, I myself would not touch that area with a ten foot pole during weekends, though - even before reading of the experiences posted earlier in this thread. I'll echo others in suggesting that you try for club seats at least once. (When we sit there, I always get a turkey burger, just because I can.) Note also that only the Club Infield sections feature waitstaff service - in case that is important to you. Outside of the club experience, I think the loge offers a solid all-around package (view + value). I once sat in the farthest-to-the-right loge outfield seat (very back corner of 206) and even enjoyed that view. In fact, that seat offered a perfect vantage point to follow the entire arc of a Fielder bomb that hit either the scoreboard or batter's eye. That was so cool that I'm smiling right now at the thought of it (and that happened almost two years ago). After your visit, I hope you'll let us know where you sat and how you liked it.
  19. Congratulations! We only have house debt at this time. Maybe if we stopped going to Brewer games...
  20. Stepping away from the Brewers for a moment, there is an autograph session next Monday, May 5, for the outgoing UW men's basketball seniors at the State Street University Book Store in Madison: Link This event managed to draw at least two bf.netters last spring, and that was with just a few hours' notice. Finally, we can all indulge our dreams of meeting Tanner Bronson, and a few bigger guys.
  21. I'd surely have shared your disappointment, had I been in your shoes. Perhaps they should have scheduled this for an off-day; or maybe if they do this again, they'll be a bit more savvy and include some fine print hinting that player availability might be affected by the game schedule or something. That was a pretty big carrot to dangle last fall. Frankly, I'd wondered in March what they would do if Carlos didn't make the 25 man roster, or had Yovani's recovery taken longer than it did.
  22. Contact the Brewers and ask if the location can be tweaked for at least some of your games. You knew the section but didn't realize the railing would interfere until you were at your first game. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. You might want to ponder in advance what kind of tweak would solve your problem. Would you prefer different seats in 426, or would a different section be OK if you could avoid the railing? Then if the Brewers do present you with choices, you might feel more prepared. They're still hawking fan's choice 20 packs, so it's not like everything's sold out; that said, I don't know how rigid they are about seats being reserved for 20 pack customers vs. 9 pack, etc. Also, since you're thinking positively...come playoff time, most season ticket customers would be seated somewhere else (and probably 'worse') than their season ticket seats. Not to bum you out, just to prepare you. We saw evidence of this last season, when playoff tickets were printed and distributed - so people knew where they would have sat. (Being a nerd, I even took pictures of our 'would have been' seats.) Anyway - good luck. Let us know how it turns out.
  23. I didn't notice much crowd noise on either TV or radio today. From my varying vantage points over this homestand, I thought the Friday crowd was less enthusiastic too, while the Monday and Wednesday fans got into the game more. (And on Wednesday, that included before the Brewers took the late lead.)
  24. I think if I had been booed by my home team fans before my team's home opener, I'd remember that and stay motivated to prove them wrong at every opportunity - even if in the meantime I'd been released or traded and only got those opportunities once in a while. I am not interested in reopening the booing debate, but there is a potential dark side to vocally calling out every player you don't like. Just think back to games like today's.
  25. Wouldn't you like to know, wink wink, nudge nudge...actually, see this thread.
