  1. So the Dodgers' corner base coaches are now both former Brewers managers (RRR and Davey Lopes). Recipe for success.
  2. Before Saturday's game ended, I'd predicted on Twitter that STL would bring in Broxton during Sunday's game, mostly to troll my soul, because of course by now he's pitching The Cardinal Way and would surely shut down the Brewers. I was beyond delighted to be only half right. First pitch deposited into the bleachers to blow a hold and be set up for the loss? It's like the universe might not completely hate Brewers fans after all. This doesn't eliminate the possibility of Brox making a positive difference for STL down the stretch and/or in the postseason, but it was pretty bloody satisfying for today.
  3. Wednesday's game (see post above) went very well, with everyone except I suppose the Padres having a good time. *waving again at davego* Before the game, our ticket rep gave each of the nephews and nieces a mini pack of baseball cards. The youngest nephew (age 9 and deeply into baseball) opened his immediately and upon seeing one of the cards, said, "Anthony Rizzo?! I hate that guy! I'm going to throw this away!" We persuaded him to hang onto the card in case he could trade it to a Cubs fan, but I couldn't be prouder of the knee jerk sentiment. My boy!
  4. It's hawing family night at the ballpark, with my brother's and sister's families (two nieces and two nephews) joining us. No relish tray drama with these relatives! Supposedly davego and his daughter will also be in attendance, and if he and I cross paths, it would be the first time since Ben Sheets' last Brewers appearance (9/27/2008).
  5. They drew 1.7 million in 2003. If 2015 continues at/gets back to the win-loss pace of April, I wouldn't consider a sub-2 million gate in 2016 impossible. I listened to Luc's interview (http://media.1057fmthefan.com/a/107990120/08-04-15-jonathan-lucroy-joins-the-bill-michaels-show.htm) this afternoon and didn't feel slighted by it. He sounded ginormously frustrated, which given how things have been lately makes sense to me. Frankly, I'd rather hear players speak plainly than all in cliches.
  6. Wow, they didn't sell even 21,000 tickets for this game. (20,888 announced attendance)
  7. Late to the party, but is anyone else marveling at how the Brewers were able to move Broxton and not K-Rod? (I'd add "and Lind" if he hadn't just had the back flare up.) I'm assuming by the time Jonathan is in line to save Game 7 of the 2015 World Series, I will have long stopped watching MLB for the year.
  8. Feels like I maybe should have added some asterisks to the Brewers' lineup above. *FOR NOW*
  9. The thing that bothers me about that ad is how the guy has no protection for his phone. He's such a good climber that he doesn't ever scratch the phone?
  10. I figured they're "double-signing" for the transition period only...so some drivers aren't like WHERE'S US 41?
  11. Let's pause for a moment to recognize the evolution of this thread's title. I went through all the pages as of just after noon CDT to make sure I had them all: Magnificent work! and it's not necessarily over yet.
  12. The Marcia Brady defense: "Something suddenly came up." I wasn't expecting this level of drama. I'm glad I'm off work this week so I can watch it unfold.
  13. Jean Segura is a late scratch due to a sore throat. Hector Gomez is in his place and the lead post now reflects that.
  14. I think I'd make the threshold for bonus time longer-distance home runs. Did anyone not get bonus time Monday night?
  15. So as of today (July 1) I've been a state employee for 25 years - just a little more than half my life. It feels both cool and weird.
  16. Rick Schlesinger (of the Brewers) was in my PYMK feed for a while last year. I couldn't fathom why. He kept popping up, so I sent him a friend request to see what happened. Nothing did. I remember having an email exchange with him early in the MP era, but that was well before I was a Facebook user (probably well before he was too). I have not shared my email contacts with Facebook.
  17. You can just tell your buddies you meant WALL of fame. Because Rickie will make that. Oh, wait, it's Wall of Honor. Well, just tell your buddies they misheard you.
  18. Jacob de Grom's hair has more body than mine.
  19. Yup, a gold Barrelman cap. I still have mine and I bring it out for special occasions. With the Twins here this weekend, I might wear it then.
  20. You know how some things make you notice the passage of time more than others? Remember that epic game with the Twins where Rickie and Prince each hit their first big-league dingers? It was a Brewerfan Fan Fest night and a bunch of us sat in the field bleachers? Recent draftee Ryan Braun made an early visit to his future ballpark? Ten years ago tonight. I don't even know what smilie to add here. http://peninsulaclarion.com/images/062605/9420_256.jpg http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=250625108 And the IGT: http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=6279& Good times never seemed so good.
  21. I can't add much here besides sharing in the sadness. Count me among those who would have been more than open to Darryl having a more regular broadcasting presence with the Brewers. He and Joe Block had an instantly terrific rapport last year when Darryl filled in for Ueck on road games. I am glad that I took the time to tweet my compliments to them both last year. And I'm glad we have tickets to Tuesday's game, where there will almost surely be a pre-game moment of silence. (If not, I'll want to know why.)
  22. After the Braun suspension, I realized I should vow to take the high road when other teams (players or other employees) get in high-profile trouble, since Brewers fans now know what that feels like. I've been struggling with that high road ever since this news broke. I'd been looking forward to reading the general reactions on Brewerfan and y'all haven't disappointed. If you do nothing else with Twitter, the handle @BestFansStLouis is worth a follow, or at least a look: https://twitter.com/bestfansstlouis. Here's an example (bold added by me): Baseball's Best Fans retweeted Ryan Menley ‏@RyanMenley Jun 16 The FBI is just jealous of the @Cardinals ' success. #hatersgonhate The FBI goes after suspects because of jealousy. Y'okay, sure.
  23. I saw one on a fan at Miller Park last month. I wonder what he would have accepted for it.
  24. I realize that a literal answer doesn't address your overall frustration, but before 2015, no. 14 was last worn last year by Jeff Bianchi.
