  1. It is. As Badger fans used to (occasionally have reason to) say at Camp Randall in the Don Morton era, WE SCORED FIRST.
  2. Give it a few days. I wish I could put that in blue with confidence.
  3. I suppose, but if he couldn't swing a bat yesterday, the odds of his being improved enough to field and stuff today (in the cool damp outdoors) seem not that great.
  4. Just saw that. Well, I will update once something is settled, which given my schedule today may not for sure be before the first pitch.
  5. The lineup I just filled in at 10:30 came from an ESPN guy's Twitter. I admit to skepticism that Segura would be back already. PLEASE NO MORE BREWERS INJURIES TODAY. Is that too much to ask?
  6. (bold added by me) I'm with sveumrules. What an insanely perfect storm of injuries. Four of the eight originally-pencilled-in opening day position starters are down at present, plus two intended backups. Just about everything the Brewers were hoping would go right has gone wrong early on. I get the original point of the thread, but I don't think the current situation lends itself to a lone whipping boy.
  7. In the Reds' rout of Washington Friday night, Manny Parra pitched two scoreless innings and was 1-for-2 at the plate. Box Score
  8. At some point during the ride home last night, I read someone's account (either McCalvy's or Andrew Gruman's, I think), saying that Aramis admitted the knee hadn't been back to 100% from his spring injury, and that it felt worse after Friday's slide. If no immediately-season-ending tear is discovered on the MRI, I'd more anticipate a "15-day DL" stint that exceeds 15 days - kind of a # 2.5 on monty57's list.
  9. And here I thought the problem of the night would be Lohse pitching like we all feared he would. I'm pretty completely sick of knee injuries.
  10. I'm not looking to take a strong side one way or the other here, but considering how much change there has been in conferences recently, I can kind of see why a coach might want to be fairly broad in placing limits on where a student can transfer.
  11. I do bring a little Walkman to games, but because the 620 feed is behind the live action, I usually don't listen unless there's a specific reason to get Ueck's take (like on an injury or delay or weird play). That 88.5 FM which is supposed to have a non-delayed feed has yet to ever work for me, in either our terrace or loge locations.
  12. I suppose at least in the RFCoder seats, you have a chance of a tossed lid reaching the field, or (maybe worse yet?) fans in the picnic area. I think from either of our season seat locations, the jet stream would have to be perfect for anything I wanted to toss to reach the field. In the loge, the jet stream would have to be able to carry the lid over the net too.
  13. Awww. Link Within this link is a link to his last blog post ("leave of presence").
  14. "I'm looking for this book" is the kind of question I get at work regularly (thus I conclude that this is a post I can respond to from work with confidence!). Although there are a few internet references to the existence of Catch .222, it doesn't appear on the out-of-print book sites I most often consult. What's notably strange is that it's not listed in WorldCat, which is the closest thing there is to a global online library catalog. That would mean no copies ever made it to any library anywhere - not even in Milwaukee or Wisconsin. That's enough to make me think it never got out and about. Even if all 50,000 copies went to friends, family and stalkers, you'd think at least one of those 50,000 would have sold it at some point. (Well, probably not the stalkers.) I'm going to tweet Joe Block about it. At least he's got Bob's ear. If I hear anything I'll report back (though if they talk about it during the games this weekend, I'll miss 2/3 of the chances to hear it because I'll be at MP).
  15. Wow, nice. I mean, it would have been nicer had it been a Brewers HR she called, but still.
  16. We were at that Dave Bush game too, and it was against the Diamondbacks. Small sample, but am I too impatient if I'm already wondering about Michael Gonzalez?
  17. I actually have the original print edition clipping of this photo in my office.
  18. My stance on Amy is split. (Disclaimer: she and I are both 40-something women. Otherwise we don't look alike at all. ) We have not met in person, but we have struck up something of a Twitter rapport. The "attention" side of her does not appeal to me. The "Brewers fan" side of her does. Although she's only been following the team for a relatively short time, we were all newbies once. Better late than never. I don't think the Brewers fanbase will ever be too large, so I'd rather be inclusive than exclusive.
  19. Our only 2013 experience has been on the terrace level, where I would kind of like to think that lids would be helpful, since there are no cup holders up there. (I know, they're helpful in general, but in this setting, especially in the terrace.) Certainly less plastic is greener, but I'm not convinced it's worth more spills. If I think of it on Sunday, I'll try to remember to get soda on the loge level - though it's often easier for us to get it on the terrace level. We always get our DD coupon from the terrace level guest relations people because they're so nice, and even on days when we sit elsewhere, if we didn't at least stop up to say hello, we'd hear about it later.
  20. I considered that, but I think they showed the standings for the first game last year. And yes, I realize this is extremely trivial; but in a forum that accepts a port-a-potty thread, I think this is no worse, and maybe better.
  21. On a racing sausage tangent (a phrase which should probably never be used except in a Brewers context), I was moderately dismayed yesterday to see that the Brewers did not display sausage race standings. Instead each racing sausage is assigned to a section of the park and if that sausage wins, fans with a ticket for that section win something. The sausage race standings have grown increasingly important* to my fan experience. The media guide even has sausage race standings going back to 2007. (True story! I stumbled across them while perusing the new guide on Sunday.) Bring back the sausage race standings. *Edit: Not more important than the game itself. But in recent seasons we have enjoyed tracking brat futility, and I know at least a couple other bf.netters feel the same way.
