  1. I'll use weather.gov over weather.com most any day of the week. They don't overdramatize everything. It's information, not infotainment. I also like their mobile site, though I have both NWS and TWC on my phone. On the NWS mobile site, you can save as many favorites as you wish. I save Madison for home use and West Allis for Miller Park use.
  2. So it's not Taint McFadden.
  3. Good for you; but tickets are arriving in Arizona before they arrive in Wisconsin? Hulk smash.
  4. I figured someone at McDonald's finally realized they could make salable (if not edible) use of whatever bits of 'fish' are left over from normal McDonald's 'fish' activity. (Same with the KFC bites.)
  5. I'd like to say I'm posting with excitement because our tickets arrived, but I haven't seen today's mail yet and my hopes aren't high anyway. I checked last year's ticket thread to remind myself of the receipt date for our 2012 tickets - and I shouldn't have, because it wasn't until March 27, with an additional delay for parking passes. I hope the Brewers don't cut it that close this year. First world problems, to be sure, but tickets would certainly get my mind off the weather.
  6. I read of the Crosby release and immediately thought of this thread. "Cross him off the list, then."
  7. You know that GEICO commercial where the gecko overemotes about having a flat tire? (i.e. this commercial:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4njS23NvzPU That is how I feel about the Winter Weather Advisory for Dane and other counties for Friday morning, not to mention every other winter precipitation event that has arisen this week and will arise over the next week (or week plus). SOMEONE HELP ME! IT'S SNOWING AGAIN! I am also tiring of the local weather media reminding us of how uncommonly warm it was this week in 2012. I know they don't control the weather, but they can control how many times they remind us of last year. Any weather people reading this can feel free to take this to heart.
  8. This video really needs a Brewers makeover.
  9. Championship Week is the best! When we finally broke down and got cable in 1993, it was installed in mid-March and we spent the first week watching game after game of Directional State University X vs. Obscure College Y. I was hooked. I actually enjoy it more than the 'real' tournament. Of course, as I get old and (even) more jaded, I'll sometimes chant "You're the play-in" at the TV as Obscure College Y celebrates; but I won't begrudge them their moment in the sun. Last night we beheld LIU Brooklyn and Valpo punching their respective tickets. I know a couple of you here on Brewerfan are happy about the latter. Valpo didn't let their fans storm the court, though; what was up with that?
  10. Just when you were finally getting used to saying NYCE Stadium Club, it changes once again, this time to Johnson Controls Stadium Club: Link Here's the Club Level Restaurant naming timeline as I recall it (using information from past bf threads): 2001-2007 seasons: .300 Club 2008-2009 seasons: Metavante Club 2010-2012 seasons: NYCE Stadium Club 2013- ?: Johnson Controls Stadium Club I wonder if this latest change was determined previously and only announced now, or if the Brewers are now scrambling to change signage, passes, etc.
  11. Our cable guide says 8:00 PM CDT but MLBN has a top 100 plays thing. Why on earth would there be a rights issue? *grumbling *
  12. FSWisconsin's first Brewers telecast of 2013 is today! But if you can't get to a TV in the afternoon, MLB Network has a replay tonight. Brewers' nine: RF Norichika Aoki SS Jean Segura CF Carlos Gomez 2B Rickie Weeks 1B Alex Gonzalez LF Khris Davis C Blake Lalli 3B Bobby Crosby RHP Mike Fiers Zack Greinke, originally scheduled to face his former mates (well, some of them were his former mates), has been scratched with right elbow irritation and is headed back to LA to have it examined by the team physician. Rut roh. Anyway, on the bump in Zack's place is Hyun-jin Ryu. Edit: Yes, I was wrong. But at least I remembered that Zack was signed by an LA team.
  13. Through other social media sources, I can verify that thablingster got his 20-pack on Friday, so the "starting to mail March 11" seems a bit off. Based on the small sample of thablingster, it sounds like fan's choice customers' seating may be all over the place again, especially for popular dates such as bobblehead giveaways. I was going to wait until like Tuesday to start really looking forward to getting home and checking the mail, but I guess that annual phase begins now. On the up side, the USPS hasn't halted Saturday delivery yet, so there's still an at-least infinitesimal chance someone will get their tickets today.
  14. Weeknight promotions aren't nearly as accessible to the outstate portion of the fanbase, and the Brewers cannot afford to leave them out. That's my guess. I'd have to check my attendance spreadsheets to confirm, but anecdotally Sundays do not draw as well as Saturdays. Anyway, yeah, Chance 2 Advance. I will be interested to see how many fans actually occupy Bernie's Terrace on the first Tuesday of that promotion.
  15. One of our 20-packs already includes tickets to five of these games, so we would have no reason to participate; but I'll tip my cap to the Brewers for coming up with a new (at least new to the MKE market) way to fill seats. I'd imagine Tuesdays are not typically a big draw.
  16. For the baseball autographing event, our two 20-packs count as one account. I'd accept otherwise but am OK with that. The 2008 event was on a Saturday morning in April, at almost exactly the same time as the Crazylegs road race in Madison. The S.O. has only missed one Crazylegs since the early 1980s (due to injury), so he ran and I went to meet Corey. As pretendastronaut recalls above, Carlos Villanueva was one of the four guys autographing baseballs, but he was starting that night and so did not appear. The other choices were Rickie or Yovani. Ryan Braun signed bats for full-season customers. On a slightly different season ticket note, I've noticed several of you bf.netters and others in my Twitter feed refer to "meet and greet" events with their ticket rep. We have never been invited to something like that. Then again, we know our rep pretty well (for an employee/customer relationship) and I imagine he is savvy enough to realize that we are about as committed to season tickets as we can be, given our distance. Put differently, there isn't much more upselling they can do with us.
  17. They are good for Fridays (or were last year), in case that helps at all. We used some in 2011 and 2012, mainly in conjunction with trading tickets in. Otherwise they should just about advise against the upgrade vouchers for fans with Sunday Plus or Saturday Plus packages.
  18. The starters for your Milwaukee Brewers: RF Norichika Aoki SS Jean Segura 2B Rickie Weeks DH Khris Davis CF Logan Schafer 3B Bobby Crosby LF Caleb Gindl 1B Hunter Morris C Robinzon Diaz RHP Mike Fiers I read somewhere that Kameron Loe is supposed to get time on the mound vs. the Brewers today. We'll see how that goes. Check out Bob and Joe.
  19. Our ticket rep told me last week that they expect to begin mailing season tickets the week of March 11. How soon yours is mailed depends on when it was printed. Last year, when we chose upgrade vouchers, they came before the tickets. This year we went with the meet-a-player/signed baseball thing, since I enjoyed meeting Corey Hart in 2008.
  20. Wah, I can't get the audio to work for me.
  21. I felt the need to clarify that the Brewers' opponent today is Canada's entry in the World Baseball Classic, not our beloved moderator "Team Canada." There is a free webcast at brewers.com. Here's the Brewers' lineup: RF Norichika Aoki SS Jean Segura 2B Rickie Weeks CF Carlos Gomez 1B Alex Gonzalez LF Logan Schafer 3B Bobby Crosby C Blake Lalli DH Josh Prince LHP Chris Narveson Behold as John Axford, Jim Henderson and Taylor Green play for the other side. I wonder how Doug and Gord will react. I don't even know how to feel.
  22. Likewise. The 2013 event drew 12 fans, and since Friday's didn't have room for us in the regular part of the restaurant, they put us in the Brew Room Suite without the usual Saturday evening charge ($100 plus $500 minimum in food/drink). So apparently Brewerfan is kind of a big deal. We had a great server, appropriately named Brian, who lingered during our "other ballparks" discussion to get some ideas for his own future travels - and who opened up the Brew Room balcony for a few minutes so we could gaze out onto the field and take photos. I would call this another winner. Thanks to everyone who was able to make it, and to Invader for making the arrangements (i.e. that one phone call).
  23. While this is a recurring thread topic, I am all for re-remembering great baseball memories. It might make the next four weeks easier to take. Plus, the thread to which djoctagone linked ends before NLDS game 5. I feel lucky to have lots of cool memories to choose from, so I'll have to give this some thought.
  24. How nice of you to ask. As I expected, by the Saturday before my Monday birthday, the SO hadn't even begun thinking of anything yet. Thus we followed the plan we first implemented in 2012: visiting a variety of stores where I usually find things I like, and his purchasing pretty much whatever I pointed to. It's fun for me and not stressful for SO. This year we changed it up a bit by hitting the outlet mall in Oshkosh, which used to be our go-to mall when I lived in Green Bay and SO in Madison. I still like that mall, and I'm not a major shopper by any means.
