  1. If you're going tonight, ask for the Brewerfan group.
  2. Ba ha ha. I don't think the restaurant would welcome brought-in food.
  3. For those of you still planning your weekend, if you're near enough to swing by Miller Park on Saturday evening - why not stop by Friday's and hang with some of your Brewerfan contemporaries? Don't be intimidated; we're not that cool. 7:00 PM, be there. See for yourself what some of us look like!
  4. I only wish you'd tell us how you really feel about Mitch Williams. To me he will always be this guy: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_OvmuvHN8HnM/S5BtFQXwcjI/AAAAAAAAB60/_E9UfRwoSVc/s400/Mitch+Williams.jpg Don't think, meat, just throw.
  5. When I look over the current roster, no one jumps out as the obvious whipping boy - the guy whose mere acquisition makes a fan cringe. I'm going to guess that That Guy hasn't been signed/acquired yet. I know that late spring throwaway-looking signings sometimes work out (2011 Nyjer), but if Kyle Lohse makes it to the cream city, he'd get my vote almost instantaneously. Note that I have no inside information on Lohse.
  6. Seattle? Well, most of the lower 48 is colder than South Florida. The "wetter" does make one tempted to guess the way rwa12 has done. It's owbc's business...though he posted the tease.
  7. Are you saying you're in the best shape of your life?!
  8. Joe Mauer and his wife of three months are expecting twins.
  9. Try calling your ticket rep, or the ticket office (414-902-4100). Since we had a group of 12 to place for 3/30, I emailed our rep a few days ago asking how to get two adjacent rows of six seats instead of one row of 12 (since you can't select like that online). He called this morning with a spot for our group. I hadn't got to Brewerfan yet by the time he called, so I did not ask about the functionality of the SSH link.
  10. The Brewers' starting nine in Maryvale today: CF Norichika Aoki 2B Rickie Weeks LF Ryan Braun 3B Aramis Ramirez C Jonathan Lucroy 1B Alex Gonzalez RF Caleb Gindl SS Jean Segura DH Hunter Morris RHP Yovani Gallardo
  11. During the SD at MIL gamecast Monday afternoon, Brian Anderson just said that ticket sales to the March 29-30 games for the general public begin at 9:00 AM Friday, March 1. Field Diamond Box seats will cost $15 and all others $10 (I assume the rest of the field + loge). Edit: and here's the release on Brewers.com: link
  12. I should have added in the initial post: the Maryvale (vs. SD) game is webcast (free at Brewers.com) and the game at CIN is Gameday-only.
  13. As could I. Take note of Ed Sedar jumping up and down in celebration.
  14. It's a rare and happy thing when the Brewers play on my birthday, and this year they're (kind of) playing two! Props to the World Baseball Classic for making this possible. The Brewers' starters at Goodyear vs. Cincinnati: RF Logan Schafer SS Jean Segura C Jonathan Lucroy 3B Taylor Green LF Khris Davis 1B Sean Halton 2B Scooter Gennett CF Josh Prince DH Anderson De La Rosa RHP Tyler Thornburg The Brewers' starters at Maryvale vs. San Diego: CF Carlos Gomez 2B Rickie Weeks LF Ryan Braun C Martin Maldonado SS Donnie Murphy 3B Jeff Bianchi 1B Hunter Morris RF Kentrail Davis DH Jason Rogers RHP Hiram Burgos Don't let me down, boys.
  15. Just documenting that this game happened. Will fill in lineup as time allows.
  16. Excellent! Would that you could pry TheBwaz away from home for a night as well. I know he's a busy dude, though.
  17. Let's have a game thread! :) Oakland's scheduled starting nine: 2B Jemile Weeks SS Hiroyuki Nakajima RF Josh Reddick 1B Brandon Moss LF Seth Smith CF Chris Young C John Jaso 3B Josh Donaldson DH Scott Sizemore RHP Jesse Chavez Brewers' scheduled starters: RF Norichika Aoki 2B Rickie Weeks LF Ryan Braun 3B Aramis Ramirez C Jonathan Lucroy CF Carlos Gomez 1B Taylor Green SS Jean Segura DH Hunter Morris RHP Mike Fiers This game is available only via Brewers.com. Let's play ball...or listen while the pros play ball.
  18. My birthday is Monday and the S.O. hasn't asked what I might like to do or like as a gift. Based on past years, this means there's about a 1% chance he's already got something ready and a 99% chance he hasn't and will suddenly start thinking about it sometime this weekend. Yet he always seems concerned that I have some gift to open on my birthday. So if I were deeply into both materialism and strategy, I could wait for him to get around to asking about it, name some big-ticket item and probably get it (as long as it was in stock by Monday). It's not bad. He's just not a think-ahead guy for things like this.
  19. Count two for the hawing household, unless it's snowy or icy AGAIN.
  20. I'm not a fan of this either. I saw a podiatrist for foot pain last fall and he suggested a category of athletic shoe that (when I started looking around for it) only came in garish color combinations. The least painful-looking combo I found was white with pink and purple. They are comfortable shoes, but they remind me of a girl's first bike.
  21. Yup, high-five on that. Now I would selfishly like them to play well on Tuesday vs. Nebraska, as that is the last game of the year to which we have tickets. I do not want my last in-person memory of the season to be a stinker. So...anyone else think Northwestern's court looks like it was partially stained with fading purple magic marker?
  22. Oh, it totally has a trap-game setup, and the Badgers seem to have a tendency to play up/down to the level of their opponent. Here's hoping they can overcome that. Last night I made sure to watch IU-MSU, figuring that either way I'd see a coach I dislike lose. However, I'm coming to realize that Tom Crean has pretty solidly displaced Tom Izzo as my most detested "B1G coach named Tom." Izzo is the kind of guy I dislike because he's not in my corner; I think if I were at MSU or if he were at UW, I'd be all about him. Crean...ugh, just looking at him makes me want to groan, and I don't think it has anything to do with his coaching history (i.e. Marquette days). Though I don't wish such an outcome on anyone, both Crean and Thad Matta are guys who, when I see them in coaching action, make me wonder which of them is going to have a stroke first.
  23. I asked our ticket rep about this last month and he said season seat holders would have first dibs on the tickets on/about February 27. He said to watch for an email. We took the hawing extended family in 2010 and sat across the aisle from the Attanasio seats for $10 per head. It was great fun and my family has already saved the date for the Saturday game this year. This includes my brother's and sister's ultra-busy households, so if that many people found time, it's got to be fun.
  24. I understand that Russell's best days are very likely behind him, but when he sports the Oakleys...yeah.
