  1. Yes, they do. And other police departments appear to have access to them as well. One of my family members is a police officer in Dane County and gave the S.O. a 2011 set of police Brewers cards last Christmas. Stay in school! Make good decisions! Swim with a buddy!
  2. Yup - we caught this play in the car, thus with only access to Uecker, and his call is very enthusiastic. If you have access to the audio, try to catch the postgame show. Maysonet Salami. That'll learn 'em to IBB Ishikawa.
  3. So...Shaun, you should be the least tired of the whole roster. Please consider a longish quality start today. Thanks.
  4. Through May 8, the Brewers are undefeated at home on Tuesdays. Good thing for the hawing household, because so far they're 0-for on home Fridays and home Sundays.
  5. I don't usually join in the "starting lineup" comments, but I wish they'd give Ryan the day off. I remember watching Diego Edmonds' Achilles finally go on him as he circled the bases at MP during his last home run trot (against the Brewers, of course). I don't want to see that happen to Ryan, nor do I want to moderate all the I TOLD YOU SOs that would fairly justifiably appear on this site. Still, go Brewers. I saw you play effectively last night. I can't think of a reason your good play has to be limited to Tuesdays.
  6. During Monday's game I was feeling slightly left out for not being at social media night (as other bf.netters were), but Tuesday's action more than made up for that. Here is a partial list of good things that happened on our trip to MP Tuesday: Our ticket rep upgraded our seats from 417 to 110, row 2. We were next to the 1st base line ballboy, which means... The Ishikawa leaning over catch was about 10 feet away from us. I haven't found us on the video clip yet. All the hits to RF went right past us, including the Cesar Crush. Nyjer's bat rolled sort-of near us. Rickie hit a line drive foul to our section, which someone behind and to the left of us caught. We had a good view of the Nyjer catch early in the game. Before the game, a little boy behind us was waving at Nyjer. Nyjer came over, gave the kid a ball and shook the dad's hand. Let's all remember this the next time the rest of the world declares Nyjer to be a thug, because that action was the opposite of thug. The kid's dad talked about Nyjer the rest of the night. This isn't related to our seats, but the Brewers never trailed in this game. It was so nice. Also, the Brewers are still undefeated on home Tuesdays in 2012 (and possibly on road Tuesdays too; I'd have to check). Easily the most fun I've had at a game this youngish season.
  7. But the potatoes are so good! The potato ladies are also quite nice. And I know of at least two other BF.net posters who partake of them. And one of the combinations they offer is BBQ Beef Brisket (like seemingly every other stand in MP).
  8. So, two or three ACL tears later, we could be seeing Tommy at shortstop.
  9. So, two or three ACL tears later, we could be seeing Tommy at shortstop.
  10. Yeah, JimH5, once you've used your seats in 217 this year (my memory is that your mini-pack doesn't start until later this season), you will at least have heard the Ice Man. I semi-joke that he haunts me every time I am on the loge, even if it's just long enough to get a baked potato.
  11. The hawing household has a system of simply not picking up the phone unless we recognize the Caller ID information on it, and we're getting good at switching channels as soon as a political commercial airs. (Pro tip: The Weather Channel is usually a safe place to switch to.) But it seems like for the last week I (not the SO) have received a piece of mail every mail day for the same candidate. It's not someone I'd never vote for - and incoming mail is the easiest to deal with, since we keep our recycling bin by the back door - but after like the third day/third mailing, the desperation really shows through. Someone's trying too hard. Edit: Back to the phone calls: The robocalls do sometimes leave voice mail, which we play just enough to clear them off the system; but not all robocalls recognize our outgoing message as a recording, so we only get half a message. For example: "...and we hope you'll join us." Yeah, not if I don't know for what.
  12. Not to make matters worse for tonight's ticketholders, but part of me would rather see Ishikawa in the outfield so Ryan can rest. The Brewers are close enough to having injuries derail the 2012 season (I know, some of you think it's already enough, and that may yet prove to be the case), but if Ryan's Achilles goes, so go the Brewers.
  13. Ouch, stoutdude, that's a tough pill to swallow. Sorry about the dog. And it puts what was just bugging me into perspective, but I'll list it anyway. Some evil person occasionally drives an ice cream truck through our neighborhood. It was just stopped outside our house for 10 minutes, playing about a 20-second loop of Turkey in the Straw. Audio abuse, I'm telling you.
  14. As Dr. Zorba Paster* might say, "Stay well!" http://www.eaglestalent.com/uploaded_files/images/speakers/1803.jpg *a Madison physician who has a public radio call-in show.
  15. If I were any other team's management and had a passable SS to spare, I'd have huge dollar signs in my eyeballs at just the mention of "Brewers" or "Doug Melvin is on the line." I wish it were otherwise, but the Brewers don't have a good bargaining position.
  16. The SO and I were just looking at each other and saying, who the hell plays SS now? Sorry, Edwin, forgot about you for a moment.
  17. I had no trouble loading it using Firefox on our home iMac. Were the SO and I ever to legally tie the knot, the ballpark would be a logical place for us; but I inherited my grandpa's thrifty genes (plus I hate being the focus of attention), so I can't fathom spending major coin on something at MP that isn't directly baseball-related. (Note I'm not telling anyone else to not spend big if they want to.) Now, if we could bring a justice of the peace or a "Rev. SeriesFinale" type reverend to the Molitor/Giants lot and get it done there...would it even be necessary to tell the Brewers about it? Baseball related, low-cost, no lack of witnesses, and it's practically catered already, because who wouldn't share their tailgate with a just-married couple?
  18. If I may go on a tangent for a moment...we live west of the stadium and work on campus, so we go by the stadium/Field House twice a day every work day, either by bus or on foot. On my walk home a few years ago, Barry peeled out of the stadium/FH/Shell parking lot in his silver Porsche convertible. He didn't almost hit me or anything, but I thought he could have been a little more cautious. Anyway, I noted his license plate number, in case I ever need it someday. Carry on. Suits.
  19. Oh, come on... "health is a skill"! You're both wrong. Health is clearly a factor of character and karma. If the 2008 and 2011 Brewers hadn't been such thugs, untucking and enjoying life and such, they wouldn't be suffering as they are at present. Now, let's distract ourselves for a moment by wondering how Chris Carpenter would explain my theory to his son.
  20. I'm glad you bumped this, because I saw from the bus the other day that Bill Paul Ltd. - the place where Barry Alvarez gets his suits - is closing. It's on Monroe St. a few blocks west of the stadium. Sure, even their "going out of business" prices are probably crazy, and it's probably risky to buy from a high end place that's about to close. But Barry Alvarez, man. I was going to put that in blue, but couldn't fathom putting his name in any non-black color other than cardinal.
  21. This isn't enough to melt me down. I mean, the Brewers did avoid being no-hit, and Kotsay had 0 HRs. I'm not really digging the Chulk era, though.
  22. Choosing between Kottaroki and Aokittaras/Aokottaras is certainly a silver lining, however slim, in the aftermath of Mat's injury.
  23. Adam McCalvy tweet from about five minutes ago:
  24. Ooh. If I didn't really like my current signature file, I'd switch it to this. Hat tip, owbc.
  25. I think 'stole' would only work if Jeff knew he had just peaked and accepted the Brewers' offer knowing he would underperform. Although much of his stint with the Brewers dismayed me, that's a stretch I'm not willing to make.
