  1. Just wondering how you know he’s just sitting around! Inside knowledge? Are you in the meetings? Wiretap!!
  2. Phil Regan's manager was Jimmy Dykes. Jimmy Dykes' manager was Connie Mack. Connie Mack was the A's manager in 1898. This dude is 2 steps from the 1800's.
  3. I think we need to see what happens at the deadline this year and the off-season before we declare ourselves in middling purgatory.
  4. It's a different game now then back in the 80's. You look at what Yount, Moliter, etc. did and it's pretty much the equivalent of what Yelich is doing. Kind of like a house that cost $50,000 back in the 80's is worth five times that today. I agree, but 1200 ops is still super rarified air. Trout hasnt done it. Harper hasnt. The last to do it was Bonds. We'll see.
  5. Knock it off with the personal crap and 3rd grade insults. Seriously.
  6. Really, never? The Brewers existed back in the 80's you know. The Brewers have definitely never had a guy put up an 1.199 ops for a season, if Yelich stays on this pace. 1.200 has been done 20 times ever. Mostly by ruth and bonds. Thats rare air.
  7. Even so, being in first place doesn't mean that if you have an area of need doesn't mean you shouldn't look to improve. If Hook isn't doing his job to a satisfactory effort then it's fair to point out that Johnson was doing a better job with the same (or mostly same) group of pitchers. The Brewers have 39 wins right now, but could they have 42 or 43 if the pitching coach was getting better results from his pitchers? That's a fair question. Pitch sequence is something that matters. Pitch location, landing point, release angle all those things that a coach has an impact on (and more) and it's fair to question how much of an impact the coach does (or doesn't) have on those results, and how those results impact wins and losses.
  8. As for the "the Brewers are too LH heavy", that's not really true. Yelich and Moustakas both OPS .900 or better vs LHP and don't need to be platooned at all. Braun historically hits really well vs lefties. Perez hits to over an .800 OPS vs lefties. Grandal is better vs RHP, but has been fine vs LHP. When Huira comes up, he will be another righty bat. This is imaginary problem that doesn't need to be solved.
  9. Santana is brutal in LF, and when factoring in defense is barely above replacement level. Moving Braun to 1B and Santana to LF possibly creates more problems than it solves.
  10. That's hyperbole. I imagine Stearns is exploring every angle and possibility. Just because he doesn't get the players we want doesn't mean he's not trying. There's always reasons trades do or don't happen, and most of the time we don't hear the why.
  11. Ha. That called strike three was almost in the exact same spot as the pitch 2 pitches prior that was called a ball.
  12. If Cain has a bunch of nagging injuries that are keeping him from chasing down routine pop-ups, a 10 day sit on the IL wouldn't be all that bad of an idea.
  13. Pretty much, yeah. Yelich right now is either the best player in baseball other than Trout, or even over the last hundred and sixty-two games, the best player. Going forward, I still don't expect Yelich to keep putting up an 1.150 ops, but the longer he keeps up this pace the more it becomes possible that this is his new reality. Unless Diaz, Harrison, and Yamamoto all become multiple-time All-Stars this deal is nothing but a good one for the Brewers. There's just no way to spin this otherwise. Even if they all become top five players at their positions, which is absolutely unlikely, the Brewers have a top 5 player in all of baseball in his prime years, so there's just no way to say this wasn't a good deal. You have to give to get
  14. I won't advocate for Bauer because he literally stalked a girl on Twitter for 72 hours because she said something mildly mean about him in one Tweet. Bumgarner, I would understand if the dude was just a "fiery competitor", but it's not about "letting kids be kids" and letting "madbum be himself", he is literally pitching a fit because people on the diamond won't conform to imaginary rules that he has created in his own head. It's stupid, silly, and absolutely unnecessary. That doesn't make him a fiery competitor, it just makes him a super intolerable jerk who behaves like a red-assed immature baby. The other day Max Muncy hit a massive drive, LAID his bat down, took two walking steps, and Bumgarner was screaming at him to RUN, DONT WALK, until the cords on his neck were standing out, and the umpire had to get between him and Muncy. I mean......why?? Just to show everyone how fiery and awesome and what a protector of the game he is? What even is the point of that? If his feelings are that hurt by bat flips and guys watching homeruns, maybe he just needs some frickin anger management....

  16. My gut says no. I'd be impressed if as a duo they hit 100.
  17. I was thinking a few days ago, the number of teammates who hit 50 dingers in the same year has to be a pretty exclusively short list. I still think it's an outside shot for both Moose and Yelich to stay hot enough to do it, but it's cool to think about.
  18. Stearns has his work cut out this trade deadline. Tigers are open for business...I go get Miggy. Solves the 1B issue Miggy is still owed 120 million dollars beyond this year and can barely stand up. He's not playing the field much these days, and he hits for zero power.
