  1. Tom H thinks a bit differently than regular humans! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Honestly, the ONLY way I'd see K-Rod staying is if the Brewers traded Axford in December or January, and then ante'd up to KRod right away after that. And that scenario just doesn't make sense either. Axford is going to be a LOT cheaper, and probably just as effective as K-Rod this coming year.
  2. What's really frustrating is that if Braun leads off an inning with a double, the rest of the inning is brutally predictable. Fielder -- IW McGehee, Double play Betencourt, pop out.
  3. How terrible for the Cardinals. Oh..........wait How TERRIBLE for the Cardinals.
  4. I don't think it can get any lower than the previous 0% chance that he would have accepted arbitration. He's made it abundantly clear he is a closer, and is going to be a closer next year, something that won't be available for him in Milwaukee.
  5. If he's not happy about it (which I'm sure he's not), it's not affecting his performance, which is all I care about at this point. He's obviously not taking it out on his team mates. He knows it's not their fault. I'm sure he wants to win a WS and get a ring just as much as the next guy. Someone can be unhappy with their situation, and still go out and give 100% effort.
  6. I watch a lot of movies that I otherwise wouldn't have rented with Netflix. That's the nice thing about the monthly subscription fee. You go to the vido store and you see something and you're like 'eh.......do I really wanna pay 2 bucks to take a chance on this?"
  7. I didn't question his attitude issues. I questioned whether or not he was a malcontent that the Brewers couldn't stand. That's fairly strong wording, regardless of whether or not there's anecdotal evidence to back it up.
  8. One of those is a fan blog, and in the other one, Sickles admitted that the attitude issues were hearsay only. Heck, I'm not even saying he doesn't have attitude issues, but saying that Lawrie was a 'malcontent that the Brewers couldn't stand' sounds more like a guess/opinion than anything else.
  9. It's just like in college football, where someone will be beating a #1 ranked team, and you'll get a graphic "So and So is 1 - 15 all time against #1 ranked teams". Well duh.
  10. Yeah, for 8 bucks a month, there really isn't a good competitor to Netflix right now. I was doing the dvd/streaming package for 10 bucks, but when they made it 8 dollars for both, I dropped the DVDs. Now, if there's something new that I want to watch, I can just grab that from the Red Box for a buck, and watch the older stuff on streaming netflix.
  11. Looking very possibly at a clinch near the end of the next road trip. As much as I'd like to see them clinch at home, I just want this thing wrapped up. Let's sweep the Rockies, kick some butt in Cin and Chi, and the Phils can do the rest of the heavy lifting for us by mopping up the Cards.
  12. It doesn't have to last. They're only a half game back from us. AZ has a pretty easy schedule. They're getting the 2 seed. I'm still not going to be overly concerned in a 5 game series if one game is in AZ instead of Mil.
  13. I'm not worried about the D'Backs. They're hot like the Crew was in August, but that just can't last.
  14. Unusual, considering the makeup of the lineup.
  15. I've heard more than a few stories that hitting coaches, including Sveum this season, have tried to work with Yuni to get him to change his approach at the plate, work the count, take pitches, etc, etc, etc, and on at least few occassions, I've read that he's really bristled at such instruction. I'd describe that as an attitude problem. And I don't care if Yuni isn't part of the long term solution, he's part of THIS year's team, that's trying to make a playoff run, and along with McGehee, he's doing a pretty darn good job of making it more difficult than it ought to be.
  16. I can't wait to hear the post-trade interviews. Those should be interesting.
  17. What does Don Money, or more importantly, the Brewers, gain from more or less bashing his young players accomplish? If there's things holding the players back from making the leap to the next level, that should most likely be a closed door discussion. I mean, great, Money is an 'honest' guy, but I can't see Schafer, Gamel, or Gindl being all that excited about playing for him next year after their public scolding. There's times when the generic comments that people tire of really are the best option. "We like (player X), but we think there's still some area for imrovement, and we feel it's best for his development to start next year in AAA"
  18. First and obviously, if the Brewers left Wisconsin, I'd be done with them. If such a scenario had unfolded before we moved to the NL, I probably would have fell fairly easily into the trap of becoming a Cubs fan, as they were already my favorite NL team. Nowadays I hate them with the fury of a million suns, so that ship sailed a long time ago. I'd probably become either a Twins fan, or not be fan of any one team. If the Crew were to slip back into their old ways.......spending TOO frugally, or like Bando, spending too much on mediocre crap........that would be a tough call. If there were literally 'no end in site', I don't know if I could turn my back on the team, I'm just not sure. There's things that I think "boy, if I have to watch another season of YuniB at short, I just won't watch", but I know that's a lie. I'll watch/listen, and just keep complaining impotently about it.
  19. I try not to put too much stock into opponent quality. As I said earlier in the threads, I would guess that MOST teams do poorly against teams that are above .500, or those teams wouldn't by the very nature of the nature of the problem, be above .500, right? I also think there's not much in the way of "Well they took 3 of 4 from us back in September, we're doomed in the playoffs" type stuff. If the Phillies beat us in the playoffs, it's not because of what happened over this weekend, it's because they're a better team.
  20. Huge relief to get that monkey off the back. Didn't want to go into an off day riding a 6 game losing streak.
  21. Nah, he'd have popped out first pitch swinging on an eye-high slider
  22. He's got to be among the league leaders in backwards K's.That's what I was thinking. I could be wrong, but my perception is that an unusually high percentage of his K's are looking.
  23. I actually like that idea a bit. There'd still be some strategy to it, as you have a limited number of bench players, and if you start burning them up in the 2nd/3rd/4th innings, you're limiting yourself later.
  24. I call ABSOLUTE shenanigans on that one. I'd like to see some data to back up such a claim.
  25. They're 22 and 32 vs. teams over .500 this year. I think that's misleading though. Teams over .500 are over .500 because they win more than half their games. To put it into perspective, the D'Backs are 19 -24 vs. teams over .500 The Braves are 25 - 19 vs. teams over. 500 The Phils are 25 - 19 So the Brewers have had, by far, the toughest schedule out of the 4 NL playoff qualifiers. Keep in mind, the Brewers had to play Boston, Yanks, and Rays, while the Cards did not.
