  1. I've always loved Smoltz as well. It'll be a shame if he has to end it like this. I think all 3 of them are first ballots, and if they all 3 were on at the same time, I believe they'd all make it in together for that very reason.
  2. I didn't catch the full story on WSSP the other night, but from what I gathered, it sounded like some people were tossed from the stadium for wearing Fire Yost shirts on Friday night? Anyone else hear that?
  3. I also have to echol Glennron. There have been several of these moments already and they've not been the catalyst we've hoped for. I can't get excited until we can sustain some winning and get back above .500. I was however excited to see Hall's excitement last night after scoring. That was playing with some fire, which I think has been sorely lacking. To me, that was a moment that got me into the thinking that we're about to turn it around. But then I tell myself; there have been several of these moments already and they've not been the catalyst we've hoped for. I can't get excited until we can sustain some winning and get back above .500.
  4. Right now I'm not confident in this team on the road, or at home. I'm not really looking forward to a homestand with the Braves, Astros and Dbacks at this point. As someone else pointed out, we're only 11-9 at home, so its not like we're playing huge at home like we did last season.
  5. I don't understand the Kendall move today at all. It's one of Yost's few success in his lineup moves, to put Kendall 9th, and then to "shake things up" again, he's going to move him to 8th? Is he trying to shoot himself in the foot? It's encouraging to know that even though Yost has made far less lineup "shake ups" this year, when he does, they're just as well advised and done with that magic touch.
  6. It's about a perfect move to fit into this storybook season. Everyweek there are new ways to surprise us.
  7. I'm not sure about a colletive sigh of relief just yet, we did leave 18 men on base last night. And of course, we have McClung getting ready to make a start as well. And, our 2 game winning streak is against the Pirates, but at least its a 2 game streak in Pittsburgh. But there are visible signs that a bit of life has been in them for the past week or so. We'll still need to play a lot better than this to really turn things around I believe, but its a start at the very least.
  8. The video is on Rome's site; http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/videopage?&brand=null&videoId=3407049&n8pe6c=1

  10. I try taking solice in knowing we're in almost the same spot as the Yankees, and they seem to be able to turn it around every year. New York Yankees, 5th place, 20-24 6.5GB Offensive vitals: .255/.323/.407 Pitching vitals: 4.48 ERA, 1.35 WHIP
  11. When I was a kid I used to tell my parents I would grow up and get season tickets to see the Braves play every game. They told me good luck basically. When I was finally in a good enough spot in life to get a partial seasons ticket account with the Brewers, I was overjoyed. I love going to the park, winning or not. I won't stop getting my package unless I can't afford it, and at that point, I'll try first just to get a smaller package.
  12. I like how TH says it could be a "totally irresponsible posting" by BadgerBlogger, when he went and really spread the story. I'd say TH was much more irresponsible. But that's exactly what people were speculating he was doing, in trying to cover himself if it was false.
  13. If Melvin is off to Nashville, maybe we're going to DFA Yost and bring up Kremblas to spot him. Looks like TH updated the blog;
  14. Alright RyDogg! Congrats man! All the best to your new family addition!
  15. Its really not a good position to know that every team you face knows it has a legitimate shot at you in the 9th.
  16. I've read the Body for Life books myself, and they were life changing for me, but I've moved past them now too. I think the biggest take aways for me was what JimH5 just pointed out, six meals a day, portion size, and a free day. Just doing those things alone you will notice a tremendous difference in your life. However, I did grow to not really agree with his exercise routine or a lot of his meal suggestions. Oddly enough, I bought the accompaning cook book years ago and that kicked off a love of cooking and really wanting to understand food, which lead me to question a lot of his choices. But it was good moment, because it got me down the road. And I still do cook several of the recipes in that book, but I've made some modifications to them. Right now I would highly suggest the site Mark's Daily Apple for exericise, and especially, food tips. There is a lot of great knowledge on that blog.
  17. I already told your mommy. She's calling his mommy.
  18. The audio is right at the beginning of this clip; Audio Clip
  19. For anyone who missed it, in today's broadcast, Trenni said Yost's mom calls him after every game and often critizes his decisions. Maybe she should have a talk with Melvin.
  20. Momentum probably isn't the right word. Attitude is probably more approriate and I think that plays a huge part. I don't think one big win can swing everything around, but a week+ of losing and playing bad baseball has to put a negative attitude in the club house, and everything else will just follow along after that, IMO. Frustrations continue to mount and it gets hard to break out of anything.
  21. If it makes you feel better, I grew up a farm boy in southwest Wisconsin. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. Let me put it this way, since that hot start of 34 games, the results have been mediocre at best. They are 65-87 since then, is this the sort of results that should be expected from a team that is "loaded with talent"? Isn't that the point though, that they should play better than this? If you think the team has no talent, then you can't really be over reacting at all I suppose, because you shouldn't have expected much else. But, on the other hand, if you think the team has a lot of talent, then you should know they are not playing up to that talent at all, and that is where the concern comes in. I expect much better of this team, because I believe they're talented, and I agree the results have been mediocre for awhile and that is unacceptable. If you want to believe the team lacks talent because they're not putting up winning results, that's your opinion, but I don't think talent is gauged on a win/loss record, really at all. I lean heavily that the team lacks leadership, I don't think Ned's "they'll figure it out, they're good kids" routine is really a prime example to set and I think that is hurting this team far more than any perceived lack of talent. (BTW, I don't think you need to keep putting loaded with talent in quotes like that, it seems pretty condescending when written repeatedly that way. IMO.
  23. Thanks for the tip brew64. We were told that by someone else as well, and we'll have to be sure to follow it. Glad to know your twins are doing well!
