  1. Well yeah that is because the Brewers are the only team that has the 1B shadow the runner instead of holding the bag
  2. As much as I am tempted to go 0-0 with a snow out, it looks like clear weather at least for today in Cincy, so I'm going 1-0 for the Brewers in March.
  3. The unbalanced schedule is beloved, it isn't going anywhere. And they won't go back to 2 division for that reason as well.
  4. A below average shortstop over a whole season is just as good as an above average shortstop over half a season and costs less in terms of talent and likely dollars.
  5. Since there are some local users here, anyone use the Time Warner iPad app yet?
  6. Amazon's Cloud Drive will likely not come to the iPad so there is that.
  7. Posnanski on Betancourt is the perfect example of straining to say something nice "Serviceable is what you're hoping for...He shows up everyday!"
  8. No it doesn't. As soon as its out a player takes until he gets a strike (like 3 games) he'll get a strike 1st pitch all the time. Not a meatball but a definite strike.
  9. Its WTMJ. Outside of their big programs they seem to think it doesn't matter. God their late night and weekend Sykes pity hires are just terrible. Their sports guys tend to at least be able to talk but never have any real insight.
  10. It means that Yuni, who should always be replaced with a late game sub, won't be because there is only one infield back up
  11. Matt Stairs has made the Nationals roster
  12. Less. The idea isn't to walk, its to swing at pitches you can hit. Almost no one can hit pitches that are balls hard. Vlad use to be able to but then he actually had a good eye and would lay of pitches he couldn't do much with. This is a huge skill, basically a major league player needs to decide to swing based on the ball like 6 inches from release and base it on spin and projected trajectory.
  13. If its a TV/Monitor panel (which if a newer panel is likely) it might do fine with upscaling from a 720p type resolution but text will still have issues
  14. The next Alienware laptop is supposed to be out next month: http://www.tested.com/new...-with-sandy-bridge/2030/ But yeah getting something under 14 inches with enough power to do 24 inches is a difficult thing. For example the Alienware display is 1366x768, great on 11 in, not so much at 24. Are you just using the 24 inches for display an not playing games? Then you might have a shot. Most real powerful laptops have a 15 in. For example: http://www.ibuypower.com/...01_W150HNQ_Gaming_Laptop
  15. That was with an unsustainable (even if measured correctly) 17.8 runs from defense.
  16. Yost used to pinch hit for his catchers all the time which is why his sudden refusal to do so was so weird.
  17. The Marlins have to spend money so yes they will.
  18. Carlos Silva was vastly superior to Mitre last year. It isn't losing Dickerson so much as basically getting guy who is replacement level and costs $1m at the same time.
  19. When Betancourt has to bat for himself down one in the bottom of the 9th because Counsell has been used...
  20. I thought MLB "highly suggested" that in SS games at least one or two starting players go with the team. Or does Counsell fill that role in Arizona?
  21. Almonte has mostly been a DH the past 2 years and if on the field at 1B. He can play the field in an emergency but so can lots of others. But my problem isn't Almonte, its Kotsay. Almonte will likely hit well enough for a bench bat and it makes sense to have a RH 1B backup to Fielder. Kotsay is just extraneous.
  22. Of course Ferris wasn't set to play SS in Nashville. This is just so foolish.
  23. You could put Fielder at SS too but that doesn't make it a good idea.
  24. The difference is is that if he has command trouble in Nashville no one really cares and he can work through it or if he reaches his pitch count in the middle of an inning he can leave.
  25. Gomez has only played himself to the bench the past two years but I'm sure this year will be different.
