  1. But at that kind of money you could have Ty Wigginton!
  2. Yep this looks like a signing to please Roenicke. God 60 games of Nieves...
  3. Crawford was the next big thing for years. When he finally hit like everyone "knew" he was going to at age 28 he became a star. Now that isn't to say he wasn't very valuable because he was but I would count him at a 6-7 win player for the next 3 years.
  4. He was basically the same pitcher with a different ERA. His xFIP in 2009 was 4.61 in 2010 it was 4.56. He's a good number 5 starter.
  5. Gomez for a full time Spanish translator? If the Braves are looking to shed Kawakami, Gomez and Stetter for Kawakami might work.
  6. Holliday is a good defender, people just remember his big blunder last year.
  7. In another head scratching move this off season Ty Wigginton is set to join the Rockies at a 2 year $7.5m contract with a 3rd year option that has a $500k buyout. That's right Ty Wigginton just got a guaranteed $4m a year for 2 years after hitting .248/.312/.415 as mainly a 1B. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5894432
  8. Right now Fileder's asking price is likely 10 years $200m
  9. Somebody made up this trade because the salaries basically even out.
  10. Which meant that he was either going to be moved off 2B now so he could play at AAA which would ding his value or he would stay at 2B at AA behind Farris at AAA and ding his value.Or it means they were going to move him over to 3rd as they suggested last season. I get some like this trade more than others, but I don't get this need to try and make every comment about him as negative as possible. I don't think anyone truly believes he was staying in AA in favor of Farris this year. That seems rather absurd. I also don't get why the part where Melvin talks about how versatile he is and how he is capable of moving and fitting in to a lot of positions is glossed over in favor of the "return to AA" idea. And if he's moved to 3B his value goes down.
  11. Al has just decided that his new reflexively contrarian position is that Gomez is actually good
  12. Sounds like a nice way of saying they didn't believe in him as a second baseman... and then the decision to deal him while he's still perceived as a possible second baseman makes plenty of sense.Which meant that he was either going to be moved off 2B now so he could play at AAA which would ding his value or he would stay at 2B at AA behind Farris at AAA and ding his value.
  13. Wouldn't this blow a rather substantial hole then in the "Rogers+Jeffress+Cain" trade? If he's not close, and he's so wild, why would the Royals want him? For the record, I think the Royals hang up giggling after hearing that offer. Because 1 year away is fine for the Royals if they get another guy they can show this year (Cain). Its not like the Royals have a shot at anything better than win 78
  14. Attitude, yes. But work ethic? Where have you read or heard anything about that? He did skip the AFL correct?
  15. I'd be more willing to buy that if he didn't always have control issues.
  16. Rogers really isn't that close. Sure he could be up in June or he could need a full season of AAA plus part of next year to get his command down. His BB/9 in AA was 5.56
  17. Cain, Rogers and Jeffress could be enough (assuming KC likes those 2 pitchers)
  18. Crawford won't sign to play CF so there is no way he's coming here. All reports are that he wants to stay in left field.
  19. There's this sale right now at Sam's club: http://www.samsclub.com/s...d1390293&iid=MerryMonday|Homepage|Right|42_Hitachi It maybe one day only though.--It showing up $498 online (and sold out) and $450 at the Sam's in Waukesha
  20. Fielder hit .272/.366/.473 as a 20 year old when that really meant something in Huntsville. Lawrie hit .285/.346/.451. Again if Lawrie can remain at 2B that's great. But if he can't its good but not elite.
  21. And when the prospects aren't up until 2013 you suddenly have a one year window at best before you move Gallardo and Braun.
  22. The big issue is that the Royals really have no use for Gamel/McGehee. The one area they have talent is at 3B (and 1B). Which is why moving Lawrie makes getting Greinke much less likely. The Brewers pitching prospects aren't really big enough to land Greinke unless KC falls in love with them.
  23. I'd want no part of what Beltre will get.
  24. I would have preferred the top pitching prospects (well maybe not Odorozzi) because they have huge question marks
