  1. Chance that is the deal Milwaukee could get Harden for? 10%?
  2. Pretty much my point. Find some vet willing to come for near $1m and spend $4m on signing bonuses and you won't hurt yourself this year and be better off in the future. Its not like Overbay is going to bring in any more fans.
  3. Well she is back. At least until she gets another real paying gig.
  4. Seems like a great deal for Overbay. A terrible deal for the Pirates.
  5. There is no farm to give up. I think this is what people aren't getting. Without Lawrie the three best Brewer prospects are Rogers who has a huge injury question to go with spotty control, Jeffress who many see as a reliever, and Odorizzi who is a pitcher yet to touch AA. There aren't any sure things left. So it would take moving Cain, Escobar, or Lucroy and that hurts next years team (Gamel's value has likely fallen off greatly)
  6. No, very few teams have cheap up the middle talent. The Brewers do, but are reluctant to trade them because up the middle talent is scarce.
  7. Milwaukee has the talent in Milwaukee. Its Cain, Escobar and LuCcoy and could very well take all three.
  8. The Royals are pretty stocked at the corners. They would take LuCroy, Escobar and Cain for Greinke in a second. Or they should at least.
  9. Shields out pitched Garza last year, one just was unlucky and the other lucky when it comes to ERA. Both had down years last year though. Garza's FIP the last 3 years: 4.14, 4.17, 4.42. Shields the last three years: 3.82, 4.02, 4.24. Garza really is a 2/3, Shields FIP went up due to high HR rate, his xFIP is actually #1 like. I'd much rather have Shields (assuming Tampa is just dumping him for money reasons and not because they think he's breaking down). James projections FWTW: Garza FIP 4.04 Shields FIP 3.93. Don't have a clue why Garza is projected to pitch better than he ever has unless James has a huge age 27 boost
  10. And that has much more to do with Milwaukee fans and press having no clue than the fact the Sheets was that injured or missed that much time.
  11. 2/3 of Fielder's salary would mean the Brewers would being paying Garza like $17m coming off a somewhat poor season. And to throw prospects on top of that?
  12. The biggest reason the Brewers have to move Fielder right now is to get Gamel ABs. No reason to bring in a guy who isn't that good anymore.
  13. Gamel has no role in KC. And if Jeffress is looked on as a reliever by most he has next to no value. Parra has no value.
  14. Android just got a new OS release so you may want to wait if you go that way. Also look at Windows Phone 7, in many ways it seems to be the best option, especially for gaming or if you are one of the fews with a Zune pass...
  15. Plain and simple, before coming to Milwaukee Suppan was consistantly an above average pitcher. He hit the wall in Milwaukee and his career regressed quickly. I think the comparisons to Suppan are fair, in fact I would say that Suppan was clearly a better pitcher when he came to Milwaukee. The contract obviously wasn't a good deal. Yes, Pavano is better than Looper. Most of Looper's success was as a reliever prior to Milwaukee. I wouldn't consider the Looper deal to much of a hinderance though. If they can get Pavano for two years I think it's OK. I agree, if that's the cost to get Greinke it's way too high for the Brewers to pay. Suppan was consistently a below average pitcher before coming to Milwaukee whose ERA looked OK due to a really good St Louis defense. His FIP the 3 years with the Cardinals were 4.77, 4.53, 4.70. He actually pitched well (for him) his first year in Milwaukee (FIP of 4.42) Pavano's FIP the last two seasons were 4.00 and 4.02.
  16. Superstars get the most money because they are the most valuable. And they tend to actually be the bargains. Its the mid level players that tend to be too highly paid.
  17. The past 5 years showed that when Pavano is healthy he's a good pitcher. Heck the past 8 years show that. People are getting way too hung up about his ERA in 2009.
  18. Bring him back ... in the booth as a Schroeder replacement
  19. People are really overestimating Garza. He isn't close to as good as Gallardo is.
  20. We better hurry and get Gomez traded to KC before they sign all the crappy OFers and have no room left!http://www.royalsreview.com/2010/12/9/1865646/royals-reportedly-sign-of-melky-cabrera
  21. Just out of curiosity, how does Pavano's numbers over his career (save for last season) make you think he is "much better" than Suppan? Suppan's WAR the 3 years before the Brewers signed him: 1.3, 1.5, 1.7 Pavano's WAR the last three season 0.1(injury), 3.7, 3.2 Suppan's Careern xFIP is 4.68, Pavano's is 4.11 I don't want to see Pavano on a 3 year contract but we need acknowledge that Suppan wasn't just old he was Chris Narveson.
  22. Pavano is a much better pitcher than Suppan ever was. Suppan was both aging and bad.
  23. I have no problem with him getting a job. I could even maybe see $4m for one year. Its the second year that really gets me.
  24. He won't move out of left. Unless say the Yankees hugely overpay he won't consider moving.
