Maybe if Boston takes back Hawkins and easts like $2m in salary. Otherwise it just seems like too much money for the Brewers to pull off. And I think gettign a guy who can actually play SS takes precedence.
Betancourt can't play defense. If the Brewers can get either Cabrera or Renteria Batancourt should be the utility guy. Heck if they sign Counsell Counsell should get 60% of the play time.
I was about to say the same thing. If KC's 40 man is full (again this was from MLB.com and they aren't super reliable (yes you would think they would know)) they might want to time to clear a 3rd spot.
While getting Cameron back would be nice (assuming he's healthy) I think SS is the much bigger hole. Getting Cabrera or Renteria on a small contract would great. Move Betancourt and $2m for a PTBNL?
If the Brewers are taking on Betancourt's salary they will be pretty much maxed out. They might even be looking to move Hawkins for salary relief. So there aren't many moves out there to make.
Its 5 years of Escobar, 6 years of Cain but who knows of Jeffress and Odorizzi. Odorizzi is at least 3 years away from Milwaukee full time assuming everything goes right with performance and no injury.
Again it looks like KC's 40 man is full. So they would have to make room which they'd want to do before they announce any trade. So yeah for that reason it would be Monday.
The problem has been the teams looking to trade pitching, KC and Tampa, don't really need McGehee. KC is loaded at the corners and Tampa has Longoria. Now if the Marlins start shopping Nolasco that could be a match.
I'd be fine with it assuming that SF didn't dump him due to health issues. Its just weird to sign Tejeda instead of Renteria since Tejeda now is Renteria without the defense to play SS.
I'll give you mine even if you didn't ask for it. Until he shows he can start I think he'll be valued as a reliever by other teams. He is still young enough to go back to starting without it being a big deal but while he's projected to be in Milwaukee next year as a reliever he'll be lucky to come up midseason 2012 as a starter. Maybe that is how other teams value him. How do you value him? Do you see him as a starter?I think he should definitely start. And all indications are the Brewers are going to have him start.
Counsell was worth 0.6 wins last year. Harden was worth -0.7. And again there is no way Harden comes to Milwaukee for the same price he goes to the A's.

Except Dave Cameron isn't arguing that (while trying to fool you that he is). He's arguing that over their career they are similar. Over the past two seasons Pavano has been greatly superior. Cameron is lying with statistics (again).
