  1. Ibanez is still under contract for next season, I don't see the Phillies benching him with another year left, They might start platooning him but they can get someone cheaper that Hart for that.
  2. The giants have Posey playing 1B right now. For the future you'd expect a Sandoval move.
  3. That's because he was 10 years ago at Duke when they last actually paid any attention to him.
  4. All 4 teams are alive. Only Ghana is assured to advance with a tie. Basically if there is a winner of the Ghanna-Germany game that winner wins the group and faces England (assuming nothing weird like Serbia winning 6-0). If the games ends in a draw, Ghanna will advance but as a #1 or #2 isn't set. Serbia gets in with a win and would win the group if the other game ends in a tie other wise they'd be the #2 team. They can get in with a tie and a Ghanna victory as the #2 team. Australis needs to win and have Ghanna win or win big and have Germany win big and can't get above 2nd place. If both games end in a tie, Ghanna and Germany advance as #1 and #2. If Ghanna and Germany tie and Austrlia wins by less than 7 goals, Ghanna and Germany go in as #1 and #2.
  5. I really think you're selling Konerko short. Over the next 5 years, Fielder is a much better bet. Over 3 months, he isn't. And of course the biggest talent out there is Lee but I rake it you mean position players. I'd be fine if a deal opens up say a trade that involves Lee and Fielder going to LA, Loney going to Seattle and prospects going back to Seattle and Milwaukee. I just think there are just too few buyers at 1B/DH whereas you'll have a bunch this offseason (including possibly Detroit finally getting out of the Ordonez contract who would most likely love to have Fielder)
  6. Not sure how 2 years, $23m isn't approaching Howard and Cabrera since it exceeds what Cabrera got and right in line with Howard's $25m. If you look at highest contracts per year, out of teh top 20, 9 are pitchers. Considering that there are 8 position slots versus 5 pitching slots per team pitchers seem to get more to me. And you forget Konerko. And half of value also depends upon demand and the demand just doesn't look to be there.
  7. Smoak is hitting .318/.416/.576 in June. He's not being replaced. Pena's hitting .270/.347/.603 in June. Pena had a terrible May surrounded byt a fine April and a fantastic June.
  8. I meant defensively. This team was ok last year defensively and horrendous this year.
  9. And I see a team that became awful after Cameron, Hardy, and Hall departed
  10. Nope. They go from an 83-85 win team with Fielder down to an 79-81 win team without Fielder. Assuming Hart isn't signed to a long term deal, which is unlikely though possible, you move him.
  11. If they trade Fielder they have no reason to keep Hart. They could always afford Hart.
  12. For a guy who hates it so much he sure takes a lot of them. He's hitting .164 with men in scoring position but still has a .371 OBP.
  13. Sabathia did not replace Gallardo. Gallardo was out. Sabathia replaced the #5 starter in the rotation. Sabathia was expected to give 3 to 4 wins over that, Fielder over half a season 1.5-2 over who he is replacing. You need 5 starting pitcher you only need 1B. It makes a huge difference for in season value.
  14. Since a pitcher replaces a #5 starter, which is basically replacement level thats a much bigger upgrade than a 1B who replaces an average player. Not that hard to see.
  15. Yeah its in Erin, WI which isn't even incorporated. Its just south of Hartford. But from Delafield you're on 83 that thanks to the fine folks of Chenequa is limited to 35 mph so its only like 15 miles but it takes a good 1/2 hour. Its faster from Germantown but 45 North there is always a bear.
  16. His value doesn't slip, it may well increase. More teams will need a 1B at the end of the season than do now.
  17. Braun never looked good out there. It has nothing to do with the manager.
  18. I know its from the link, I just think Rosenthal is crazy.
  19. The lack of hotels isn't the end of the world, just strange that Erin Hills got something so big with such a lack of nearby hotels. A US Amateur is one thing but the Open is entirely different. Well half the population of Chenaqua will likely take a weeks vacation and rent out their homes.
  20. Yeah but Milwaukee is a good 45 minutes to an hour away. Hartford has like 2 motels.
  21. Amazon also has a video marketplace and they tend to be cheaper than iTunes. You may still be better off just looking for specials on DVD box sets of TV shows. How's the battery life on your laptop?
  22. I did not see that coming, mostly because I have no idea where everybody will actually stay. Its out in the middle of nowhere.
  23. And I just don't see why the Mariners would trade for Hart. If they want an OFer they can trade Lee for a top prospect and get more back. Or they can take the money coming off the books and bring in someone next year as a FA. Now Gamel makes sense for the Mariners but not at all for the Brewers. The Brewers need bats, Fielder, Weeks, and Hart could all easily be gone.
  24. Its time to decide on Weeks because he has one year left on his contract. It ahs little to do with Lawrie. If Weeks were to be traded Lawrie wouldn't be in Milwaukee next year anyway. It might be Farris if he ever returns this year
