  1. The Royals probably should trade Aviles. He is already 27 and his minor league career doesn't seem to support him keeping this up. Yeah he could be Uggla but most likely won't be. A BABIP of .359 doesn't inspire confidence.
  2. No players hardly ever get moved, and they especially don't get moved when they can defensively handle the position they play. There are very few Hall cases out there. Soriano threw a fit and he couldn't even play the infield! Sheffield threw balls into the stands. ARod already was getting paid and Jeter threw a tantrum.
  3. I'd actually say Kouzmanoff hits righties as poor as he hits lefties. Yes at age 27 he might finally break out but his defense isn't good enough to support playing a career .311 OBP guy at 3B, especially when a Branyan/Lamb/Hall platoon is so much better offensively.
  4. Albert Pujols Hanley Ramirez David Wright Jose Reyes Grady Sizemore Joe Mauer Ian Kinsler Brian McCann Nick Markakis Dustin Pedroia (close) Evan Longoria Felix Hernandez Time Lincecum John Danks (close) Chad Billingsly In general more leery of ptichers
  5. Yes we'll show him who's boss! We'll play him out of position, poison the clubhouse and make us a bad target for free agents to teach the kid a lesson!
  6. Why would you want Kouzmanoff? And why would the Padres want Hardy when they are cutting salary? I don't see the Padres trading Peavy without getting pitching back. And that means I see very little way a trade happens that doesn't include Jeffress.
  7. Hardy in two years is looking at 8 years/$100m to replace Jeter in pinstripes. He's not moving to 3B.
  8. The Padres trading Peavy is pretty much a sign that they don't think they can compete as currently constructed for at least the next two seasons. That means that they won't want any arby eligible players back since it defeats the purpose of cutting salary. That really just leaves 3 Brewers on the roster that might interest the Padres, Braun, Gallardo, and Parra (ok 4 with Stetter but he wouldn't be a main part). Braun and Gallardo aren't going, so that leaves Parra. So if we are looking at a two team deal something like Peavy and Greene for: 2 of Escobar/Gamel/Salome, Jeffress, one of say LuCroy/Greene and TGJ. Including Parra something like: Parra, one of Escobar/Gamel/Salome, Jeffress and TGJ.
  9. Greene has a career OBP of .304. At SS at $6.5 m he has negative value which is why the Padres are forcing him onto the Peavy deal. Having Greene and Escobar on the same team would be like having two Bill Halls without the power.
  10. Hall is a good defensive 3B. Hall had a RZR of .722 making him 5th among 3B and better than "defensive whiz" Pedro Feliz. You can complain about his bat but not his glove.
  11. It would be one thing if the Royals were one decent short stop away and take a flyer on Hall, its different when you have a team devoid of talent. And given that the Royals best player, Aviles, plays SS and that they have Gordon at 3b just don't see a match.
  12. Yep, Hall pretty much has negative value at this point, that $8.4 million in two years is really hard for a team to take on after Hall's past two seasons.
  13. Teahen could just be cut by the Royals, not sure why they'd take on Hall for that.
  14. Beltre will cost twice as much as Fielder and is signed for only one year. Now I could see a trade with Seattle that includes Beltre, say Hall, Salome, Dillard, and Nelson for Beltre and Bedard but likely Seattle will roll the dice with Bedard and hope he's healthy for two months and then trade him.
  15. Why give what is most likely the worst hitter in your lineup the most PAs in a game?
  16. Yeah but outbidding the Mets for Hudson is very unlikely.
  17. Giambi is far from a stopgap. That said its a bad year to trade Fielder given the FA market. You have Texeria at the top and then Giambi as true 1b/DH options. But after that you have a bunch of OFers who probably should move to 1B/DH in Dunn, Ibanez, and Burrell. Then you may have Jones moving to 1B to keep him healthy. And Washignton is looking to move Young and Johnson.
  18. If Penny is healthy, he isn't a free agent.
  19. Texeria is likely looking for 6yrs/$110m, I doubt the Brewers do that for a 1B.
  20. Again the problem with that is Reyes' ISO is the majors is at 150 for his career while last season was the first time Escobar broke 100. Projecting him like that assumes his power comes, it could very well never come. Its hard projecting a skill developing that the player has yet to show.
  21. Escobar needs to add power. Some say 15 hrs? Ok, but thats full projection he hasn't shown anythign close to that level of power yet.. Yes he could be Jose Reyes, or he could as easily be Cesar Izturis.
  22. Since I *know* Kendall and Counsell are clutch those numbers can't possibly be right! I mean if that was true you would think the manager would consider lifting them for a pinch hitter when down late in games....
  23. No, the writers are that bad. A .331 OBP was much lower than expected for Cameron? By whom? How exactly can Bush grade lower than Parra? He had a better season and had lower expectations.
  24. Not sure in what universe is a 39 year old Hatteburg coming off a 493 OPS season a solid option. Yes small sample but still 39 years old.
  25. Strange how someone unhittable gave up 6 hits in 7 innings. He had a good 7 innings, hardly the first time Coffey has done that.
