  1. So who screwed up that last play?
  2. Lift Bush? He's at 94 pitches and tends to tire right after 100 but aside from the one inning when his control disappeared he's been fine.
  3. Bush has thrown 31 balls today and what 11 of them have been to Casto?
  4. Your forgetting Guzman and Bonifacio both of whom I'd take over Counsell easily.
  5. I'm always told that Suppan at 4yrs/$44m is the price for a #3 starter but that Sheets is going to sign for 4yrs/ $55 million?
  6. When the Cards won Saturday the Brewers playoff chances increased by about 0.5%. When the Cubs won yesterday the Brewers playoff chances increased by 3.7%. Like previously said the Braves are basically done so they help the Brewers by winning against a team the Brewers compete against. Its the Cubs/Marlins that will be more interesting to see which would help the Brewers more.
  7. Sure, though he shouldn't lead off but that's a far more second order concern.
  8. Thing is Branyan has a better RZR than Counsell has at 3B this year(yes sample size). But the fact is Counsell no longer has the arm for 3B and his extra range just isn't that much of an issue there.
  9. It isn't an exagerration. Braun and Kapler would likely have very similar OBPs going forward with Braun slugging around .580 and Kapler .450 for .130 difference. Branayn if platooned would likely have a higher OBP than Counsell, but even assuming a.330 OBP for both, Branyan's slugging would be about .500 to Counsell's 310 for a 190 pt difference.
  10. Anybody who thinks that Counsell in stead of Branyan is ok should be fine with Kapler replacing Braun. After all the drop in offense is less and the defense improves!
  11. The fact that Counsell is in the game reduces the likelihood that the W shows up in the win/loss column. If Scott Skiles would start Mo Williams instead of Bogut at center, people would think he's crazy. Yost is doing the same thing with Counsell.
  12. Do you understand the point of all this? Its what increases the Brewer's odds of reaching the postseason. The Braves losing doesn't increase them, the Braves winning does.Just like the Cubs winning did yesterday.
  13. Gamel would have to be added to the 40 man. Yes he'll have to be added at the end of the season anyway, but no reason to give you 40 man issues until you need too for a handful of ABs. Say Shouse gets a mild injury on Sep 1 and will be out for two weeks, you want that 40 man spot available to add a LOOGY.
  14. Branyan was walked because its questionable if Rivera could score on a double much less a single. Branyan is a much greater power threat with the platoon advantage.
  15. Just think, if you had a manager that took out a pitcher after a double and a home run, the Brewers would be leading!
  16. Hall's likely batting because Acta has the ability, unlike Yost to change his pitchers in the middle of a inning to bring a lefty to face Branyan and the bench is short
  17. He did. I just don't think you can expect him to give you 25 pitches in an inning. Given the rest the bullpen had he likely should have been lifted,
  18. But if your pitcher is going that deep you don't need pinch hitters either since the only player that Yost starts that he might pinch hit for is Branyan vs a LH reliever. And only in certain situations. Keep in mind Yost let Kendall hit down in the 9th in back to back games.
  19. Hall will be back because his cost ins't high enough to dump when there's still talent there. If either Sheets or Sabtahia (and yes Sabathia is a pipe dream, he's almost certainly going to be the highest paid pitcher in the game) the Brewers have to move Suppan. Sheet might have to settle for 4 years, but I still think it will be 5yrs/$90 m.
  20. US soccer blows a win in the 91st minute against the Netherlands-ugh
  21. Playing Counsell over Branyan is a move that could cost the Brewers a win over the rest of the season , I don't now how you can't make a big deal about it.
  22. Am I the only one with TW cable having problems with Universal HD?
  23. No winning divisions has almost no effect on getting to the World Series. Now that said I was torn today, I wanted the Cubs to win but I also always want to see Zambrano get lit up. One out of two today
