    Sabathia isn't Zito. Add 10 Million to Santana's contract and up the option buyout and you have Sabathia. 6 years/ 148m plus a 8-10m buyout on a 7th year at $25m

    It depends what the question is. If its to prove that the FSN driven LOB count is stupid measure of offense because good teams will have high LOB total because they get on base soemthing tht Brewers aren't very good at.. If its to measure "clutchiness", well thats different.

    Not even close. The Cubs as a team have hit .271/.357/.447. The Brewers have have only Fielder who gets on at a better clip then .357 They've scored 80 runs more than the Brewers for a reason.

    I really can't believe there is any discussion here. Counsell has a below replacement level bat for a short stop at this point. He is pretty much the embodiment of a replacement level player at 37, I mean we are talking about a guy who only hit decent for three seasons. Branyan's VORP is 10.6 as a 3B, Counsel's is -2.1 as a SS. If Counsell is now taking over at 3B we are talking almost 2 wins of difference over 2 months assuming about 100 PAs in a month.

    No it isn't when you are paying through the nose for it. And they didn't show his career numbers yesterday , they cherry picked the last few seasons. That's because a 4.67 career ERA in August for a career 4.61 ERA pitcher isn't that exciting.

    And who knows someday Crawford might be more than just a guy everyone say will be a superstar! Crawford isn't going anywhere, he has two club options remaining at $8.25m and $10m

    They are last in the NL-but they don't hit for a high average overall and unless you really want to see who's getting those ABs it doesn't say much. They are also first in BA close and late but I always here peopel talkign about the game being over after the first inning....

    Right, Volquez, before the last month when everyone has been pounding him, was worse against left handed hitters. So Counsell at SS yesterday would have made sense. Counsell at 3B does not.

    I half think its because Yost feels he has to have a left handed power threat on the bench for late game situations. And if that's the case..... EDIT:And this is why a baseball savy press corp would be nice. But since the beat reporters think Branyan's a scrub they won't ask why he's not in there.

    The one thing you can say about Counsell hitting 6th is at least he's not hitting 2nd! If Branyan's injured DL him. If he's healthy, play him. Hell its teh Reds, Hall can play against anyone they throw out there! It takes real talent to pick the worst option three days in a row.

    I hate people like Tom H who think Campillo is some scrub. Sure he's not 2.58 ERA good, but he's got a FIP of 3.32.

    Even down in the 9th in back to back games Kendall wasn't lifted for a pinch hitter. I swear Yost forms a view of a player after like two weeks and no amount of facts can get him to change his mind. Counsell and Kendall are OBP guys! Shouse is more than a LOOGY!

    Its better than him batting 2nd when he plays SS! Counsell is going to end up with like 250 PAs, about 100 more than any decent manager would give him.

    Its funny you think that while talking about teh White Sox because when teh White Sox won teh series, their entire pitching staff over achieved and it had nothing to do with how they were assembled. Its luck that the entire bullpen pitched like Eckersley in his prime.
