  1. I'd take him over Dunn too, but not because of his bat. I'd take Jason Bay as a superior player to Braun right now
  2. Its really going to be hard for Braun. He likely won't get voted in. Rowand likely goes from San Fran. McClouth or Bay from the Pirates. Burrell has been better than Braun. Ludwick goes. Assuming Griffey, Soriano amd Fukudome get voted in and Soriano can't go you have what, 2 open spots for among Bay/McClouth, Holliday, Dunn, Braun and even maybe Church?
  3. They aren't going to buy more than one arby year from any pitcher most likely, at the most two and two years of free agency.
  4. Not sure how his not taking questions makes him a putz. Sure reporters hate him because he makes their job more difficult but not sure why anyone would care. And its not like TH can get more gloomy.
  5. Torres should get a look, but not starting out as the closer will harm him. Braun is really a toss up but given that the Pirates will be hurt by their record and Holliday missed time and Colorado has stunk I think he gets in. Sheets is the only lock I see.
  6. Yeah, but thats really an artifact of that Cubs game still floating around
  7. The problem was the upside is: His 8th inning close game guy got to pitch the 8th Downside: Mota is (or should be) unavailable today You have two pitchers, Tavarez and Dillard, whom have now gone without pitching since the 7th so you added a little more rust to them You added an unnecessary inning onto Mota for the season, one where his arm was likely tired.
  8. But did Justice even travel with the team to Milwaukee? I mean he could easily be basing his opinion on one of the first five games in Houston. Hey those were all loses!
  9. What Mota did in 2002 has no relevance to what he's like in 2008. There's a reason its happened as much this year than already than it has in three past three seasons. Its bad management.
  10. Soriano right now has a VORP of 15.6, meaning he might be 4-5 wins over replacement over an entire season, 6 weeks is nothing.
  11. Here's a sampling of what makes Justice so gosh darn well respected: http://www.firejoemorgan.com/search/label/richard%20justice
  12. Richard Justice is on the track to go to TV. As such he says things to get his name mentioned more so he can do more media.
  13. Actually they do, but not usually on radio. You can't show video clips while a game is in progress in general.
  14. His fastball is fine, his curve doesn't seem to be breaking And that last play by Hall is the one Dillon has no chance at
  15. Yes Bill that home run was really all Yost's doing...
  16. We are going to cure prostate cancer after today
  17. If the choice is of which player, Counsell or Branyan, that you would like to give one more PA to I doubt you would choose Counsell. By having Counsell bat 2nd, Yost is doing just that.
  18. Yes let them walk Prince 4 times, you act like thats a bad thing. And Dillon can't play 2B
  19. Randomly throwing out numbers without actually understanding what your doing is ignorance, not lying.
  20. It was part of Selig's "nobody really likes baseball so lets add stuff!" park building binge. He's the one who granted the waiver.
  21. Counsell batting second and Fielder and Branyan back to back again. I don't even know what to say anymore.
  22. One of the reasons young talent is important is because it can be traded to get established talent to push teams over the hump. Trading LaPorta to add 1.5 wins this year and three wins next year is a very good use of talent.
  23. I don't know if you want to move this or not but I couldn't believe that in no place in the MJS did they mention Ausmus and Cooper being ejected. I could see maybe dropping it from the main story for space reasons but to not even have it in their game notes?
  24. That is not what regress to the mean means. It means that what Kapler and Dillon have done so far this year has little bearing on what they'll do next. That being said, Dillon is a much better hitter than Iribarren and in the 8th with the pitcher spot not coming up again in most circumstances, having Iribarren hit is just bad. Yost likes to get guys up in games right away which explains Tuesday somewhat but yesterday was just bad especially considering Iribarren was the last remaining true MI.
