Except that makes no sense either. In their last 10 games: 3,5,4,4,3,3,3,3,9,1. That's 3.8 runs per game, not great but not some huge drought . And go back one more game and its 4.5 runs per game
Someone want to tell Bill that the DBacks are 3rd in the NL in runs, they really aren't having theses huge offensive problems he seems to think they are having. They don't steal because they don't need the risk.
Randy Johnson is no longer Randy Johnson, but he's still making left handed hitters that face him look like roadkill. This year he faced a left handed hitter 25 times for the line against of: .091 .185 .227 .412 That's scary. Over 2005-2007 it's been .188 .249 .267 .516 Keep in mind only top LHer unsually get to face him.
Ludwick has only 170 PAs. Ryan Braun: .297/.328/.578 Soriano: .287/.332/.556 There is very little difference there and given that neither draws a huge amount of walks they can swap OPS back and forth on daily basis right now.
Why would the Giants want Prince instead of Linecum? If they can afford Prince they can afford Linecum. And the reason to trade Suppan is so the Brewers aren't paying $12.5 million to a #4 at best starter.
Because a team with little hope in the present doesn't need to hold onto 30 year old LOOGYs having career seasons. I'd pass because he isn't better than Shouse. As a possible Shouse replacement next year? Maybe.
For Suppan to waive his no trade he might require an extension so it would be really hard during the season. The best hope for the Brewers is he keeps getting lucky and ends up with an ERA between 4and 4.25.
But it isn't just swinging at strikes. He can expand his hitting zone but he needs to realize what his zone actually is. Take Vlad. He has the biggest hitting zone that most ever saw. Yet his OBP is still 60 points higher than his BA because he doesn't swing at balls he can't hit, Braun does.
