  1. My problem with today's lineup was Dillon at 2B when you have three options that are so much better defensively (Hall, Weeks, Counsell (with Hardy or Hall fielding SS). There were two balls today that a normal 2B gets to that Dillon missed on. It didn't matter today of course, but Dillon at 2B for non-emergency purposes is weird.
  2. The Brewers ahve left 10 men on base today. Where's the gnashing of the teeth that usually accompanies that?
  3. Thing with the ball Hart hit, Tejeda needed to charge that ball. Why he didn't was beyond me.
  4. Somebody want to tell Brian that this new fangled quality start stat is like 25 years old?
  5. Loretta's ball wasn't hit all that well it just kept on carrying which is why Braun ran into the wall. As to the lineup, its more playing Dillon at 2B when you have three other options that really makes little sense to me.
  6. The point is that because he said soem thigns once that people like doesn't mean he's a great player. Ted Williams makes Bonds look cuddly, but he's a great player.
  7. No one thought the Brewers were going to win at a 70 clip during the season, But at 24-10, if they play the rest of the season at .500 they win 88 games and the division easily. Instead they played .460 ball. That is bad. Yeah the Cubs played much better after their terrible start but if the Brewers played up to their ability it wouldn't have mattered. It was a collapse.
  8. See, this is really weird. Braun is hated around baseball because he's thought of as incredibly arrogant.
  9. Candidate? Yep. Favorite? Not even close. Webb is likely to run away with it since he has a decent chance at 25 wins.
  10. Bottom of the order so my guess is Sheets goes until two get on or 120 pitches
  11. Watching Sheets pitch is so much fun
  12. BABIP isn't a stat to rate how a pitcher throws. It can explain why a pitcher with bad stuff has an ERA thats low or why a pitcher with good stuff has a high ERA. Thats all. The point is that pitchers have litle control over whether balls in play become hits or outs after you account for the type of pitcher (GB vs FB).
  13. Right now he's Carlos Lee with more pure power and of course not a black hole on defense but with even less on base skills. Meaning he's very good. Unless he becomes more selective I doubt he'll be great in the sense of ARod or Pujols.
  14. Of course the Brewers just got dominated by an old rookie who throws 85 with no control issues.
  15. And his OBP is 70 points lower this season. Hardy's career splits: VS LHP .288 .363 .520 vs RHP .252 .308 .376 He just doesn't get on base vs RHP. Neither does Hall but at least Hall still slg 450 against RHP.
  16. Can we start alternating Hardy and Hall at SS vs RHP? You can tell the ball is carrying, Kendall almost reached the warning track there
  17. Whitlock has taken it upon himself to be the Black sports columnist that denigrates Black athletes.
  18. Pretty sure Brian's hand is going to be sealed inside Brett Farve's locker
  19. If Escobar can get a ISP above 100 consistently he becomes a much better bet to be a big league starter so what he has been doing lately is really exciting.
  20. McClung did not pitch very well and tire. McClung walked 3 batters in the first four innings. Just because a line drive turned into a DP does not mean he did well, it means he got lucky. In the first inning he gave up two singles and a walk. In the second he got the bottom out In the third he gives up three singles. In the fourth he walks 2. 8 baserunners in 4 innings is bad.
  21. Not sure how they let up unless allowing McClung to pitch is considered letting up. The scored 3, 1 and 1 runs.
  22. You don't get credit for getting on via an error. There was thought about amending it, but it doesn't seem that players have much impact over how many times they get on via error.
  23. Why? Because him blowing up was entirely predictable. He didn't have good control before they put him in the rotation and one start against an impatient Nationals team doesn't change that. In 42 innings with the Brewers he has walked 24 batters, that's 5.14 per 9 innings.
  24. Caught the end of Haudricort being interviewed today. He mentioned that he thinks the Brewers have been dying to bring Weaver up and are waiting for at least a mediocre result to be able to do so. So that leaves me with two options: 1) Haudricort like most media have hear of Weaver so he must be an option and he's just thinking why sign a name if you aren't going to pitch him or 2) the Brewers really are dying to get Weaver up here. Option two scares me, sort of the scary feeling I get when people kept mentioning McClung's new improved control while not mentioning him walking 6 per 9 innings. So anybody have any feeling where the truth lies?
  25. Cox has always been thought to be a terrible in-game manager and strategist--ie carrying 3 catchers in playoff series, he just makes up for it by always getting the most of his players when they come up from the minors. He's done it too many times with too many average players not to have some effect.
