  1. No one is saying Lucroy is Bench, just that he is a much better hitter than Kotsay. And he would mean not having 3 left handers in a row forcing Morgan to face a LOOGY. Kotsay's wOBA is .289 while Lucroy's is .317. Or because the numbers are real nice Kotsay's wRC+ is 81 and Lucroy's is an even 100. Basically Kotsay is 4/5th the hitter Lucroy is. And all this ignores that Gomez should start over Kotsay anyway.
  2. Counsell? Roenicke I guess doesn't want extra innings today.
  3. Except he was still great defensively. He's being paid like a sub 2 win player. He can do that in a bad year. The bigger issue is that he doesn't do enough to help the Orioles in that division, not as much as trading him or getting picks would.
  4. That's not entirely true. He also likes a guy who can put the ball in play during a hit and run, one of the most exciting yet stupid plays in baseball.
  5. Isn't the start time due to the field being right downtown (such as it is)? Basically so people won't leave to go home before the game starts?
  6. Hart has more power and Weeks better on base skills and so we put Hart where on base skills are the most important and Weeks where power is. Yeah its stupid.
  7. Zambrano isn't the best hitting pitcher currently playing. Its Micah Owings and that isn't close: .288/.317/.524
  8. Bruce Levine just said that there is no vesting option, simply that he gets a 1 million dollar "relocation" bonus.Right but he has 5 and 10 rights and so can veto any trade. Now maybe he'll just waive it, but I doubt it and so my guess is the receiving team has to pick up his option.
  9. Isn't that the purpose of tERA? It takes into account batted ball types. And again the Brewers aren't among the Phillies, Giants and Braves but are in the next group. The Phillies, Braves and Giants are alla round 3.5 whilte teh Brewers and Cardinals at right around (4.07 and 4.01). The Brewers starters are at 4.25 including Estrada. Usually these numbers are fairly similar to FIP anyway but for the Brewer starters: Greinke FIP 2.87 tERA 3.50 Gallardo FIP 3.83 tERA 4.06 Narveson FIP 3.50 tERA 4.34 Wolf FIP 4.41 tERA 5.21 Marcum FIP 3.65 tERA 3.87
  10. McGehee player of the game for his two singles and sac fly!
  11. Because RRR wants me to bang my head against the wall. And Lucroy would have been hitting here if he used Counsell to bunt.
  12. Why is Lucroy bunting? If you want a bunt burn Counsell.
  13. I've seen them do things if they shine or reflect light at the players before, but not fans yelling things.
  14. How sad is it that a "great day" for McGehee means hitting 2 singles?
  15. Wilson also looked to lean the wrong way on the grounder up the middle
  16. Ian Stewart doing his best to get back in the Rockies doghouse
  17. Well no the problem is that there is a search for a reason when there might not be one.
  18. Much of the time it isn't that big of a deal. Facing Craig Counsell? Go for it Loe! Facing Votto? Bad idea! Yes you'd rather have a guy without such %%$%@$ but that's why you don't have him face LHers in high leverage situations. Roeincke was managing with what he wished would happen (Loe gets a DP groundball and ends the innings) instead of what may (and is more likely) to happen.
  19. Gomez is better offensively than Kotsay. Yes Kotsay played well filling in for Braun but there is no reason to expect that to continue. Gomez's wOBA is .303 while Kotsay's is .295. You can't overlook Gomez on the base paths.
  20. Yeah but they are like a -100 run differential team with 70 games to play. The Red Sox and the Yankees are like +100 run differential teams. Not cashing Hardy in for prospects makes little sense.
  21. 1)Gomez should be starting instead of Kotsay 2)Kotsay's OBP is .318 right in line what you would expect it to be and so its not good. 3)Given its not good almost forcing the opponent to have a lefty come into face Morgan and Fielder is just bad. Especially when they have 3 available to do so.
