  1. My problem is with areas that are blatant speed traps. Areas that are only 25 mph in rural country areas, freeways that are only 55 where 65 mph would be fine, etc. If you take a look at a given situation, there's frequently a reason for the lower speed limit. For example, the first 9 or so miles of Hwy 29 west of Wausau has a 55 MPH speed limit. That's because about half of that stretch is built with a suicide lane instead of a median. That stretch isn't the first four miles directly leaving Wausau; it's the next four. It doesn't make much sense to bump the speed limit for those first four miles, and you certainly don't want a 65 mile limit on a stretch with a suicide lane. 85th percentile of free flow speed (probably right around 75 mph for most of WI) Is the 85th percentile at 75, or is free flow speed at 75?
  2. I think I'd look into installing an operating system onto an external hard drive and booting from that. That way, you'd have a full OS set up to your liking that wouldn't interfere with your work stuff. I wouldn't have a clue how to do this with Windows, which is what I assume you have. On a Mac, it's incredibly easy to do this.
  3. Montana is 75. There was a time when it had no limit. With a few 80 MPH exceptions in Texas and Utah, 75 is the maximum interstate speed limit in the US. Maximum speed limits by state (table) Maximum speed limits by state (map) The map shows that speed limits within particular regions of the country are very similar. It notes maximum speed limits, but it doesn't necessarily note typical speed limits. For instance, in Texas and Utah, the speed limit on rural interstates is 75 with the exception of specific sections that are 80. Texas is 65 at night, though. Kentucky and Virginia have similar tiers: 65 unless an engineering study deems 70 to be safe. The table offers all the explanations.
  4. Telling the officer you screwed up won't help you if you go to trial. But I can't see how it could hurt to plead not guilty via mail. Or show up, plead not guilty, and see how others are being handled.
  5. http://free.avg.com/us-en...load-avg-anti-virus-free Did you try the "download" button at the bottom of the first column?
  6. You do have to have a car in SF.... Based on the rest of the paragraph, I assume that you meant that you don't need a car in San Francisco. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

  8. Do you mean Monday, June 14, or could you mean Thursday, June 17? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. Well, if you make something Packers, your son might get some green poop to talk about.
  10. It's hard to recommend anything in any city that'll keep a two year old entertained. In San Francisco, the seven year old might get a kick out of Alcatraz. I'd assume that his parents would. Definitely plan on the weather being cool. Being used to Florida, you'll probably like that. Check this out: San Francisco Weather: Temperatures by Month Also, don't plan on driving in San Francisco unless you're doing it to enter or leave town. There's lots of public transportation, and cabs are readily available.
  11. Try calling an insurance agent of the same company, but in a different office. I don't think you even have to go that far. Insurance agents want to keep your business; I don't think they'll go tattling. Ultimately, nobody's going to care unless there's a conviction. In that case, driving records are routinely checked anyway.
  12. Until today, I don't think I've ever run into a business which refused to accept a Canadian nickel.
  13. I saw the Brewers clinch an American League pennant.
  14. Well, now I see the significance of theavrock's handle. Maybe he'll adjust the topic title to include Tech-o-Wienies in addition to geeks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Clicking through to the MacWorld Plex Review, I see it says, "Unlike iTunes, Plex doesn’t make a copy of your media files and pull them into its own organized hierarchy, opting instead to let you control the folder structure of your media." I find that iTunes copying business annoying. I'm going to need to look into Plex. At any rate, I have my Mac Mini hooked up to a 46" HDTV. There's no need for external storage yet. The 500 GB hard drive and the Time Machine backup are plenty for the time being. The most annoying thing is the mouse. The first thing I did was find a driver that would speed it up. But I'd really like a decent pointing device that's something other than a mouse. Frequently, I'll just use screen sharing and run the Mini from my MacBook Pro.
  15. Adam McCalvey was on the radio today, and he said that: the number of lineups that Macha has used falls into the middle of the packthe Indians have used more lineups than any other teamback when the message boards were complaining about the number of lineups that Nedly used, he actually fell near the bottom of the packAnyway, it's inaccurate to say that Ken has been using more lineups than "I've ever seen," and the lesson seems to be to check facts before making claims. I'm happy as long as the best six hitters are in the top six spots. The lineups I have a problem with are the ones with a weak hitter near the top of the order.
  16. There's an NBA Finals game tonight, meaning that niketalk.yuku.com will go down.
  17. 20 inch iMacs comfortably do 1680x1050, so I wouldn't think that 1080p (1920x1080) would be an issue at 25 inches. If necessary, you can always make adjustments within your operating system for text and icon sizes. For web browsing, Firefox saves zoom settings on a per site basis. (Note that Firefox also offers both full page and text only zooms, but that setting is global.) A guru recently explained to me that each manufacturer gets to set its own standards for contrast ratios. My suggestion would be to test it out in the store and see if you like it, or take it home with the idea of returning it if you're not satisfied.
  18. Totally doable, and it looks like a great cause. I voted... twice, I think. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. I think GM's often take out insurance policies against injuries on a lot of their signings, although I'm not sure about Melvin. That would apply to Riske as well, I'd think. Somewhere along the line, I believe it was reported that Riske's contract wasn't insured.
  20. Yeah, really. There's a sizable contingent of Yuku boards who are begging for a "static lead" option: boards would have the option to display a topic's lead post on every page of the thread. This one needs to display the lead post before every reply.
  21. Now you've got your handpicked GM... Melvin was actually Ulice Payne's handpicked GM.
  22. There was an update saying that the maintenance would end around 1:00 PM CDT and another update at 1:26 PM CDT saying that it was still going on. I'm still experiencing white pages in spurts.
  23. They're doing profile maintenance that's supposed to last until about 10:00 AM CDT. Since profiles are connected to boards, my guess is that this will probably affect some members, but not others. I haven't been experiencing partial page loads, but I am getting occasional whitewalls (white pages). I'd guess that's also maintenance-related.
  24. She was also the youngest of the Golden Girls by eleven years. The other three were all about the same age. Originally, Rue was going to play the naive Golden Girl with Betty White playing the slovenly one. The roles were switched because Rue had already done the naive part on Maude and Betty had done the slovenly part on Mary Tyler Moore.
