  1. Yuku has fixed issues that previously broke the ability to use the [code][/code] bbcode or the HTML tag to create "pretty" charts. Creating a "pretty chart" using using the [code][/code] bbcode: Set up your chart in a word processor or text editor using a monospace font. Windows Notepad or OS X's Text Edit (in plain text mode) will automatically give you a monospace font. Paste your chart into Yuku's post editor. Place [code] before your chart and [/code] after it. Preview and touch up as necessary. Example, using bbcode... [code] Price Cheap Bread $1.50 Designer Bread $3.00 Milk $3.50 Ice Cream $4.50 --------------------- Total $12.50[/code] [/pre]will create [code] <span> Price Cheap Bread $1.50 Designer Bread $3.00 Milk $3.50 Ice Cream $4.50 --------------------- Total $12.50</span> [/code]Disclaimer: [b]Do NOT[/b] directly copy and paste from the example above that displays the the [code][/code] tags. It was necessary to "cheat" to get them to display in this message. See details in reply #3. Creating a "pretty chart" using using the HTML tag: Begin by roughly laying out your chart in the WYSIWYG post editor. Hit the "html-view" button (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a244/casey1992/boardpics/bfnet/bf%20yuku/html_view.gif). Find the contents of your chart. Place [/i] before the chart, and place [i] after it. Hit the "html-view" button again to switch back to WYSIWYG view. Adjust and add to your chart as necessary. Because the WYSIWIG editor will display it in a monospace font, you'll probably be able to do this right in Yuku. Example, using HTML... 2. Actually, 2,379,915 (37,776 avg.) have paid to show up at games. The discrepancy is the result of an attendance tax imposed by the commissioner. 167,779 fans have been distributed among the Marlins, Royals, Pirates, and Athletics. ESPN's attendance page shows the pre-tax figures.
  3. After reading through this thread, I've concluded that there should be no spitting on the floor, even at the seats. How about using napkins to handle the mess? They're available all over the place.
  4. For pitchers the most important stats are generally K/9, BB/9 and GB%... Actually, K/AB and BB/AB would be even better, but they're not made very convenient to look up. Comparing to nine innings rather than ABs ignores the fact that during the nine innings, some pitchers will naturally allow more baserunners than others. The flaw isn't fatal. K/9, BB/9 are OK substitutes. The flaw should be kept in mind, though.
  5. Can we give George Owens an honorable mention?
  6. Or wait for the seventh pitch:
  7. I just rolled through several links on buffet tipping. The majority agree with Chio151 and say that 10% is customary. One said a buck a head. Another said 10-15% while reminding us that the people who wait on your table also work quite hard keeping the buffet stocked and clean.
  8. Two new Yuku toys were pushed last night. Jump to first new post: Click on the baseball icon (http://images.yuku.com/image/gif/c622524975c135fd10f1f93290e4fd9978cc3d4.gif) next to a thread title, and you'll be taken to the first new post in a thread. Convert URL: The WYSIWYG post editor will now automatically make URLs clickable. Make sure the Convert URLs option is checked under the box where you write your post. (It should be checked by default.) Uncheck the box in cases where you deem that an URL shouldn't be clickable. Of course, it's still nice if you like to add text to your links. Mods may do that occasionally via an edit if members aren't comfortable doing this in a situation where a text link would be helpful. There might be a handful of other additions, but since there's been no official announcement, we'll have to stumble upon them.
  9. I agree those who've stated that it was probably a bad idea to be spitting a fairly large number of seeds in an area where people will be walking. The usher dropped the ball, however, when he approached you by saying, "That's quite a mess." He should have stated exactly what the issue was and been ready with a solution.
  10. The Community Profile lists who has administrative and moderator privileges. A link to it is on the main board page beneath the community statistics.
  11. I've figured that Houston might be a destination for Sheets ever since he became ill with vestibular neuritis there and his family happened to be in town to stick around with him. I wouldn't think he'd opt for a Boston or New York. I get the impression that he'd rather eschew the huge markets. I could see him possibly choosing a California team, though.
  12. Inning recap, courtesy of USAToday:
  13. Jsonline this morning said Weeks should not miss any time. From yesterday's game notes:
  14. I'm betting that the initial complaint was forwarded to Haudricourt. Remind me never to e-mail the Journal Sentinel with anything other than a disposable e-mail address with no notation of my name in the "From" field.
  15. I wonder if TeeJayh1980 tuned back in after watching his movie. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  16. The Brewers traded Adams to the Mets for Geremi Gonzalez on May 26, 2006. Mike's contract was purchased by the Padres (from Portland) on May 22, 2008.
  17. I think the example she used was a 20% markup on a steak. I'd bet on items like pasta dishes being marked up more, though.
  18. One of my friends is a restaurant manager. She recently told me that food markups can even be quite a bit less than that. They attempt to make up for it with high markups on items like soft drinks (2000%).
  19. I dunno. I think I can ignore most of the above items, but I'm still concerned about the Ricoh defense.
  20. Jeff Cirillo doesn't finish his sentences. Once he corrects that (and I think he can), I think he'll become an excellent analyst.
  21. Disclaimer: Mods, please just delete this if that was inappopriate It's not a rule issue because you didn't personally attack a member. Your Hitler reference was safe, too, because it was just a metaphor. (It'd be pretty easy to turn a Hitler reference into something problematic, but you didn't do it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif)
  22. I see Tom has now removed the guy's e-mail address. Bots can harvest them from web pages and send spam. I'm going to edit it out of the above post, too, so it can't be harvested from this page.
  23. I generally don't know if the bartender is an owner or a peon, so I'd be treating them equally. Usually, it involves tipping when I leave--or at the end of a shift if I can spot that happening. However, if it's really busy, I'll tip as I go along to encourage him/her to return. The owner of the tavern near my house is generally on my side of the bar. We buy each other drinks, just as people would when sitting with other customers. On the rare occasion that I see him bartending, I'd tip him like anyone else.
  24. I'll bring back the old Kapler signature for this post.
