  1. I think that for now, we should just sit back and enjoy the ride. There are a lot of things to get going and adjust. As an example, I see that as I type this, Brian is tagging threads in the Major League forum. Great feature!
  2. I'm currently seeing individual usernames in both places.
  3. I'm going to post the same reminder a couple other mods put in the Yost replacement thread: Note that we have a designated Yost thread for 'all things Yost'. Let's keep this discussion focused on today's events.
  4. There's talk of paring the Last Post information on the main forum page. It's been getting adjusted as the day has gone on. What you see might also depend on which browser you're using. In the thread lists in each forum, Last Post information should definitely be there.
  5. adambr2, percentage points trump games back. But in the case of a situation like this, you wouldn't be facing a tiebreaker…yet. You'd have one team finishing out its schedule first.
  6. Yuku allows members to choose how many posts per page they want to see, so saying "look at page 3" doesn't work anymore. This is definitely something I'll have to put into Usability FAQ when I have a chance to revise it. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif There's a little link on the top of every reply that says, "url." If you click on it, it'll help you find the link to the actual post you're referring to. If that confuses you, you may want to refer to the thread, then refer to the post by date and time.
  7. Not a vent at all. Normally, this would be an in-game thread deal, but this is important enough to separate into its own discussion.
  8. It's 20 days. I wonder where the 18 came from. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/wink.gif If he's in the minors less than 20/21 days, he'll accrue Major League service time, meaning his arby status wouldn't be affected. I think the team will think in terms of being able to protect him for its playoff roster.
  9. I found the thread. Braun's success against lefties -- A reason why Feel free to copy/paste, of course. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif
  10. I just found it, whizkid. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif Look at the bottom right on the main forum page.
  11. I was surprised to find out that cellular transmissions are also carried over wires. Last January, a cut fiber optic line near Wausau blew out landline long distance and a lot of cellular transmission all over this part of the state. In the case of my cell, it went into a weird kind of roaming mode until the fiber optic line was fixed.
  12. When reading Yuku's FAQs, they really, really encourage the use of non-IE browsers and specifically mention Firefox by name. As a matter of fact, Yuku offers a nifty Firefox extension that I recommend trying.
  13. Load your profile. You can get there quickly by clicking on your username in your post. Click the edit button in the 'mini-profile': that's where you see your username, gender, location, etc. You'll land on a page with a lot of settings. Click on the actual avatar (or avatar placeholder) in the "Change Avatar" area. You'll be taken to your avatar choices. Choose your avatar. You'll be brought back to the edit page. Make sure you hit the save button at the bottom.
  14. More detailed signature directions: Click Navigation button at upper right of page. Click Edit Signature link in controls that appear. You can edit or delete current signatures by hitting buttons in the Action column. You can choose a Default signature by hitting a radio button in the Default column. You can add a signature by hitting the add signature » button underneath the signature list.
  15. chuckie, I bet IE is picking up on that 8 pt font in the body tag that Kristen mentioned probably shouldn't be there. What an awful browser. My sympathies. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  16. TC, I think it taxes browsers to re-size images. In other words, it's probably just fine for inline pics within messages, but probably not-so good to do it with pictures all over a page. Kristen could probably comment on that. Here's end user CSS that'll eat avatars entirely. I don't have time right now to get into detailed directions, but you might be able to figure out what to do by reading this thread: Sigs often looked too much like messages, but not anymore. To mess with signatures, click the Navigation button on the top right of any forum page. Look for the Edit Signatures link that appears at the upper left of the controls that appear.
  17. chuckiehacks, there's a "Use My Settings" checkbox on the preferences page that you'll need to check to make your personal choices kick in. Minimum post heights are determined by the height of the poster information in the box to the left. There isn't much that can be done about that other than to block everyone's avatar.
  18. This is good material for the vent thread or the designated Yost thread. Feel free to copy and paste. Also, note that the Designated Threads List has been updated to point to Yuku urls.
  19. Yuku is CSS heaven, Islands. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. Obviously, this thread is mostly obsolete and the Usability FAQ needs complete rewrite. But I'll quickly note here that Yuku avatars are 100px by 100px rather than ezBoard's 60 x 60.
  21. My dog hated guns and firecrackers. Fear of thunder came later. It got to the point that the barometer in him could tell a storm was coming way before I could. Your mom needs to understand that crating isn't bad. If she's not inclined to do that, she should at least accept the fact that closing a few doors is cool. The basement sounds great. The dog isn't going to hear much. Turning on a TV or radio down there will help to further mask sound. Maybe you can get a couch and a piece of carpeting. Put his bed, dishes, and toys in that area so he'll feel at home. You can take it a step further and put a TV there. That way it's comfortable for for people to join him downstairs. Also, talk to the vet about this. S/he may recommend some kind of medication. I was using Vetri-Science Composure Liquid with my dog. It wasn't perfect, but it seemed to help a bit.
  22. This is the first time I've ever run across a Brewers ESPN blackout. Adding to what chaben34 and Vgmastr noted, the entire Brewer home territory must have been blacked out. That would mean all of Wisconsin and Iowa, and parts of Michigan, Illinois, and Minnesota.
  23. It just might be that letting a family member go for a situation like this is covered in the CBA and under federal law. But certainly, the Brewers have been known for being very accommodating. I think the main news tidbit was that Doug managed to get Scott onto the bereavement list instead of having to be a man short. Yuku heads up! Members are now able to completely override Brewerfan's posts per page and time zone settings. We're probably going to have to get into the habit of saying something like "BSCR's 10:15PM CT post". http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/smile.gif
  24. The main piece of advice I can offer is that the only opinions that are valid are those from people who actually live in the household. General advice from the outside is fine; people who visit and tell you 'it's time' are unable to see the big picture.
  25. Yuku is generally loading much faster for me. The post editor is a bit slower, though, but I attribute it to the WYSIWIG format being much more complex than what we had before. EDIT: Am I the only one who's finding that my scroll wheel doesn't work in chat? EDIT 2: I love the fact that threads mark themselves read. I formerly used Mark Forum Read regularly. Now it's something I'll use occasionally or rarely.
