  1. My Control Center > Edit Profile. It's about halfway down the page. I see Yuku is letting us log in with usernames; that's a change since I last looked. I'll edit my post above. It may be that local users will have to append "@brewersfandemonium" to their usernames. I don't have a local account, so I can 't really test that.
  2. This will be a nice upgrade. I'm looking forward to the ability to tag threads. Once members learn to use it, that should weed out a lot of duplication issues. We're going to have to be careful not to 'abuse' the quote feature. It's really easy (and usually lazy) to quote full posts... excerpts, as members are doing now, would be the preferred way. We'll work through that.
  3. monty57, Al suggested two innings twice a week. GAME05, starting allows for a much more organized regimen. But it'd be possible to accomplish about the same thing with scheduled relief appearances. An 'as needed' relief pitcher is going to be warming up quite a bit and doesn't necessarily know when he's going to pitch. The beauty of a trip to the minors is that the Brewers can schedule Yo's appearances any way they see fit. In the majors, because what's best for the team has to be weighed as much as what's best for the pitcher, options are more limited. If Yo were to go to the minors, I think I'd suggest putting him in the regular rotation and limiting him to about 50-60 pitches per start. If the Brewers saw fit, they could use a 6-man rotation at Nashville.
  4. I like Al's inning limit, but I think I'd do it with Yo as a starter. I see a bit of an advantage in controlling his workload that way.
  5. What I've been told by both cops and lawyers: police are absolutely allowed to (and encouraged to) lie if the objective is to elicit a confession. One of the sources is a retired cop in my family. In court, police, like everyone else, are required to tell the truth.
  6. Keep in mind, too, that ezBoard only 'keeps' 500 threads per forum active and available before dropping them into oblivion. Right now, that's only five weeks worth of threads in the Major League Forum. Given that, and also taking basic netiquette into account, it only makes sense to try to find an existing thread before starting a new one. Keep your fellow posters in mind, too. They don't want to read (and possibly consider responding to) the same things in several different threads. Also, it's pretty unfair to single out PeaveyFury. He's just doing what the rest of us would have done. I just took a look at the locked thread, and he was right. The topics within it were covered all over the forum.
  7. I think I'm going to direct this to the vent thread. Also, please note that all-caps thread titles violate forum language rules. Feel free to copy/paste to the other thread.
  8. I feel like posting a Nancy Kerrigan picture, but I won't. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. I think you've just defined "important games" crewcrazy. A runaway would be fun and relatively easy on the nerves, but it wouldn't be nearly as interesting. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Note: "How can any Brewer fan say that with a straight face?" is tipping the condescension scale toward attacking the messenger rather than addressing the message. "The fact that many fans are already bringing out rationalizations for success really bothers me." wouldn't seem to do that.
  10. markedman5, I think of the person who gets a thrill by placing himself in danger. I'm not going to go cliff-diving in Acapulco, but I can enjoy something like this.
  11. trwi, Johnny is talking about hyperactive fans and sportswriters who have to invent a story every day. He's not referring to his teammates. Anyway, aren't the lows part of the excitement just the same way the highs are?
  12. I blame all of this on that woman danzig dated.
  13. It wouldn't be a WMLW game thread if we let the Steve Miller Space Cowboy Lost in Space commercial slip by.
  14. This is in-game thread material. Feel free to copy and paste. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Well, we're limited to 60 characters in subject lines. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Yeah, the game is blacked out outside of Brewers' home territory.
  16. Al, on DirecTV, the last couple of WMLW games have been on an oddball channel. It's caused confusion. DISH customers are used to games jumping around. This might work out well if there are Bucks conflicts next year, though. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. I edited the title. I'll sticky this for the rest of the game.
  18. According to the mlb.com link in Vgmastr's post, the game will be blacked out in the Milwaukee and New York markets, with ESPN simulcasting ESPN News instead. This shouldn't be an issue for the rest of the state, though. UPDATE: I see this game is in my DirecTV program guide for tonight. I'm guessing that only the Milwaukee area will be blacked out from this broadcast.
  19. This might be the direct link to the Gwynn video. Maybe someone can post a summary for the benefit of those unable to load it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. RyDogg, the police helicopter thing crossed my mind when I first read this thread a couple hours ago. If it's police helicopters legitimately involved, I can see attempting to press charges. However, I'd guess that anyone piloting police helicopters probably would have had the sense to avoid flying so dangerously in the first place. The news copters should have been further back. The guy who caused the need for a chase didn't cause the pilots to fly the way they were flying.
  21. I think FTJ said it right. Often the argument doesn't seem to be expressed very well. Last night, the Brewers hit the ball as they should, and it wasn't smallball. If a team hits like the Brewers did last night, the homers will happen, and I'd bet on them happening in higher numbers than if players were actually swinging for them.
  22. Good find, Crazy. I believe Vaughn only wore #25 during his first season.
  23. "You know by killing the ball." / "you need to move the runners, go where the pitch is pitched" These aren't mutually exclusive. And I don't see that going where the ball is pitched necessarily means the team is smallballing. "On the contrary I think it is very useful to be able to get sac flies with runners on third." What you have to do is put the ball in play in a way that hopefully doesn't result in an out, yet leaves open the possibility of driving in a run via the sac fly. Good point about the non-base stealers trying to steal, igor67. Leave that stuff for the guys who are good at it.
