  1. But what if that horrendous year continues the rest of this year if he were to become a Brewer?? Then they didn't gain much, and in fact maybe took a step back for the rest of this year. That seems way too risky for the here and now, obviously MIGHT turn out okay for the next couple years after that. They should have gotten in on Diekman for as cheap as he went,.
  2. It does make you wonder, at this cost why Stearns wouldn't have been involved(maybe he was, who knows)?? But it would fill an obvious need. Also, this should show that you never know what it takes to make a deal. Some GM's might like certain prospects more than another GM. Prices were said to be "exorbitant". This isn't exorbitant at all, at least for Diekman. Some GM's may just like dealing with other GM's more than others. There are so many moving pieces when it comes to deals...you can't just say the Brewers don't have the prospects for such and such, when in reality, we just don't know that. This almost makes it seem like Stearns is holding out for something bigger, otherwise they could have easily beaten this offer and again, to the outside it would fill an obvious need.
  3. Kansas City Royals @Royals We have traded LHP Jake Diekman to the Athletics for OF Dairon Blanco and RHP Ismael Aquino. #Royals
  4. Yes..I said that..go ahead and think its dumb all you want..Im just not selling ANY major contributor to the major league club until Yelich's control is up..just my philosophy..im doing whatever I can to capitalize on that window now..Hader is a big part of that..heck im trying to resign Moose and Grandal as well and make a HUGE offer to Geritt Cole or another top FA pitcher. And besides..how much have those players helped the Padres this year? What's their record again? Do you just inherently say no when it comes to trading away ANY Brewer without even looking at who we're talking about? You're just dismissing the idea of acquiring a guy pitching like an ACE right now, a really good looking young catcher and THEE top left handed hitting prospect in all of baseball. That alone would be more than Hader is worth. But now you throw in Tatis???? It just becomes absolutely comical. That guy is the EXACT type of talent you dream of. No reliever in the game is worth more than a 20 year old phenom who's not a "prospect," because I know that's a dirty word to you, but one of the best players in the league already. A more realistic hypothetical discussion would be if the Pads would trade that package for Hader AND Yelich, not either or. Just....take a breath and go look at the players you're saying "aren't helping," the Padres. 20 year old SS with a .323/.384/.583 slash, 16 HR's, 14 stolen bases. The type of player you build a franchise around. 23 year old starting pitcher with a .85 Whip in 17 STARTS, 2.84 ERA, 99 K's in 95 Innings pitched. The later would probably see his numbers slip with the Brewers, but there's quite a bit of room there for them to slip and still be pretty damn good. The prior is the type of guy you offer a 8/80 type deal to before they play a game. What DO you want from the Brewers? You talk about other people's mental health if the Brewers end up buying, but if this is what you're NOT willing to do and you're expecting more from the Brewers....man, you're not gonna be happy with the Brewers...ever. I want them to be buyers WITHOUT touching any of the key pieces from THIS years team. Peralta, Burnes, Nelson, Arcia, Thames, Aguilar, any of them can go, but not the key pieces.
  5. Bob Nightengale @BNightengale · 21m The Oakland #Athletics , who get relief help in Jake Diekman, are 8 back in the division race but just a half-game back in the wild card race Jon Heyman @JonHeyman · 25m KC gets 2 prospects for Diekman. a CF and RHP.
  6. Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal · 5m One of many scenarios #Mets are exploring, per sources: Syndergaard to #Padres, then using some of return to land Stroman from #BlueJays. Not known which players would go from SD to NYM if deal occurred. RHP Cal Quantrill, a Canadian native, would be logical target for TOR.
  7. Why?? Right now they ABSOLUTELY need a starter. Not saying Thor or someone like that, but they absolutely cannot, CANNOT use the "bullpen" approach, or use Wilkerson etc as Chacin's replacement. Not in the middle of a pennant race. That would be downright negligent. Because not everyone wants the Brewers to be so extraordinary short sighted in their pursuits of building a team that can sustain success. I get where you're coming from. But you're waaaaay out there. At least when it comes to this board in how you're valuing immediate impact and future impact. That type of desperation gets you on the "worst trades of all time list," currently circulating on ESPN. You worry about today now...and worry about the future when it gets here.
  8. To be honest, now that the Dbacks are focused on selling, I'd be all over Greinke or Ray

  10. Don't tease me like that...I would be absolutely through the moon ecstatic.
  11. I mean, don't get me wrong, I understand the appeal, he just doesn't really move the needle that much IMO. Better than Chacin?? Absolutely. Solid?? Sure, but not a major needle mover. I'd be fine with him as a fill in for Chacin the rest of the year, but not as their biggest piece.
  12. They really need at least one starter..at this point I'm on board with Robbie Ray, Zach Wheeler or Mike Minor(or two of 3).
  13. Todd Rosiak @Todd_Rosiak · Jul 26 Gio Gonzalez “tightened up” but is not being ruled out for his next start, Craig Counsell says. Day to day at this point.
  14. And...not to be a debbie Downer but right after that Paul Goldschmidt just hit a 3 run homer in the 8th to put the Cards up 5-3..I just don't get how that team is so hot right now. Makes me want to puke
  15. I get so tired of seeing David Freaking bote get big hits for the Cubs, he did it last year, and he has done it this year. I don't get it, he's a scrub!
  16. This has the feel of a 1-0, 2-1 game written all over it. Whoever makes the first mistake and gets one deposited in the seats, could be the game winner. That's going to be this inning for the Brewers...Shaw bomb incoming...
  17. This is the first time I've ever heard someone say they absolutely need to have these networks. Well, for college basketball season...outside of that, I can live without them.
