  1. Mets have a good shot at putting themselves in great playoff position this week.
  2. Well Manny has quite the standard to meet. This is the only game that worries me this series. Lannan is pretty solid.
  3. If this team ends up missing the playoffs, this will probably be looked at as the beginning of the end. Even though i'd argue that Yost giving away the final game of the houston series being the turning point. Wisconsin sports news all over espn and none of it good. Yikes, rough times right now.
  4. After watching the video a couple time, i notice yost just sits there fiddling with his lineup card. So maybe he truly believes this isn't a big deal.
  5. What half inning did this occur in? I'm tired of waiting for it to be posted online and i wanna check it out on mlbtv. thanks in advance.
  6. I turned off the game after the Arroyo rbi double. I have little patience with this team at the moment. I dunno what to say. I like Prince, but he clearly still has some growing up to do. I'll wait to see the video and some brewers to comment before i pass judgment. Either way i sense this team is on the verge of total collapse/swoon.
  7. http://www.flatrock.org.nz/topics/flying/assets/hindenburg.jpg Even though this series also left me muttering "oh the humanity".
  8. After Ned let Suppan face Blum after giving up the lead with McClung ready, my faith in him is once again very low. Between that and this stupid fifth starter platoon its really hard to defend taking Yost over any manager save Dusty Baker.
  9. 7 games left against the padres is an advantage. If they're able to avoid peavy in either series it becomes an even bigger advantage. To answer the question, they'll probably fall a game or two short. 3-1 at home and 4-2 on the road sounds about right.
  10. How so? If you don't know the result and just watch Braun you wouldn't be sure if he hit a no doubter or just missed one. Either way that's not the type of fly ball that ends up off a wall. Its either gone or an out.
  11. A lot of talk about how it was a wall scraper so Braun shouldn't have watched it. If you notice on Ryan's bombs he puts his head down and runs. The type of ball Ryan hit was either a homer or an out. He probably thought he got it but he was watching it to make sure. Seriously way too much is being made out of this.
  12. I don't think a healthy Yo would have stopped Melvin from going after CC. So no, Gallardo's injury still sucks.
  13. I gotta say i don't like weeks sitting tonight. 3-4 last night. Seems to be putting together a little run. We all know how streaky he is. Why not wait for a 0-4?
  14. there should be some kind of mandate that if you build a new stadium and your team is not in california you have to have a retractable roof.
  15. Understandable. At the time it was tough for me to understand and angered me as well. Benefit of hindsight though it could have been one of the factors that encouraged Attanasio to buy the team.
  16. I dunno if that's totally fair. They were trying to make the club as attractive as possible while on the market.
  17. Like others have said these are good problems to have. There's no hurry though. Let the big bats in huntsville prove it in nashville and then we'll see what's what. I think JJ may end up sticking around though. With a lot the money off the books next year i think Melvin might be more inclined to keep the current core (Braun-done already, Hart, Hardy, Weeks--assuming the current turnaround is for real) together as much as possible and continue to use the farm system as trade ammo. I really love the flexiblity Melvin is going to have this next offseason.
  18. http://www.geocities.com/edxeppelin/edpix/carr1.jpg 'That ain't Chuckie's game. Chuckie hacks on 2-0.'
  19. I've really liked cb bucknor this series. I thought he called a good game game 1 and if you notice when he's out in the field he hustles to get into good position and such. I'm interesting to see how good this ump is tomorrow behind the plate.
  20. time for the F-15 to take flight. i thought the b-52 bomber/f-15 fighter was a pretty cool observation by braun. A three game lead in the wild card would be pretty awesome. KEEP IT GOING!!!
  21. that's awesome zzz thanks. could you add home/road games remaining as well? with the crazy splits for the cubs and most of the mlb i think it would be an important thing to know.
  22. I'm not much of a stat head. I know the basics, but for me the majority of enjoyment comes from watching the games and not numbers. For others breaking down the numbers is a big part of their enjoyment. That's awesome as well. It's one of the reason this is a great game. Last year i remember reading all the arguments about how unlikely mathematically it was that the brewers wouldn't win the division--sounded good to me. I wanted the brewers to win. I remember the year the white sox won the world series and that during the regular season math guys in this forum talked about how lucky they were. I guess my point is that for individual players and predicting their success or lack thereof; math is great. Predicting something so complex and with so many variables as a team's regular season record with math is pretty tough to do--as is predicting a division winner with over 60% of the season left--look at the mets last year. I'm not knocking rluz. He'll forget more about math and statistics then i'll ever know. I'm sure this is a case in which he's glad to be wrong.
