  1. OTOH, if he signs with SF that is 3 additional months that he can live in his actual home...instead of being there maybe 5 months out of the year, he can be there 8 months. In addition, he avoids the expense of maintaining a second home in NYC.
  2. I wish I could think of $1-2 million as "very little".
  3. If the new ballpark in NY is state of the art, where's the retractable roof? I'd think state of the art would include being protected from having to play in rain and cold. In addition, the $140 million is over 6 years, while the $100 million is 5 years and putting $23,000,000 in this cost of living calculator http://swz.salary.com/Cos...outscripts/coll_start.asp indicates that: http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  4. That is really a silly statement. Legally blind means 20/200 vision with corrective lenses. Lots of people have 20/200 vision or worse, without correction. Mine is far worse than that, like maybe 20/800 without glasses...not only can I not read the big "E", I can barely tell that there is anything there. I have no trouble obtaining glasses that give me 20/20 vision, when I wore contacts I had no trouble getting them either. I have no idea why the guy supposedly could not get his contacts, seems very strange, but didn't he have some back-up glasses or something? It says he had a new prescription, but if he still had contacts or glasses from his old one, you would think he'd be able to see well enough to pick up catcher's signs...people's prescriptions don't change that much in a short time. Even his comment that "Right now the room is a lot brighter" is odd...I would think it would be clearer, not brighter.
  5. Of course, the risk of injury is the the biggest potential problem with a large long-term contract. I would also assume he would require a no-trade clause, to sign a contract with the Brewers.
  6. Yes, I think if you still worry about money after having earned $40 million you are either financially incompetent or just too greedy.
  7. Durham bunted in the first inning in one game...but that was later said to be his own idea, not Sveum's. In the same game, JJ Hardy bunted with 2 strikes, while it was "successful" that does not make it a good strategy.
  8. Yeah, the Packers won't beat that!
  9. I wonder how this cost would compare to the cost of A/C for those few days when the roof has to be closed but it is warm and humid.
  10. Maybe he is looking to replace Melvin with Molitor http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif.
  11. Dude, if only.... Didn't we wait all of September and October for the 3-run homer? Ah, but we have never had a manager that really embraces the team we have. To me it's really more about getting someone who does not like giving away outs.
  12. I got goosebumps when reading Braun's comments about CC, which also included: "I know he will listen. He said the Brewers will have the first opportunity to negotiate with him. I know he wants to get it over with quickly."
  13. Is this correct, if so it sounds like they are doing this as a two-step process. Yes/no on Sveum and if no, then and only then look at others. I think they should instead just include Sveum as one potential candidate. Yeah, didn't they say the same thing about Yost? If a player does not like the manager, it would be pretty dumb to make that public.
  14. Earl Weaver http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. I stuck around for a final ovation and a few (<5) minutes of cheering the team just to say "thanks for the season". I briefly thought maybe some players might pop-out to tip their hats to the fans, but did not really expect it given the situation with the other team celebrating on the field. When I could see that they had cleared out of the dugout right away I left too. I can't imagine sticking around for 20-30 minutes, sort of begging the players to come out... As for a few brief boos yesterday, so what?...some fans voiced their disappointment with the player's performance in the heat of the moment. I really don't think that sort of thing bothers them, or it certainly shouldn't. It's not like fans were booing Corey as he stepped up to the plate or booing Suppan as he took the mound in the 1st inning. In any case, any boos were more than offset by an ovation and cheering after losing the game. Fans were cheering loudly right to the bitter end and after. I don't know, but I think in most ballparks there would have been silence for most of the game after the three run homer and at the end of the game there would have been silent disappointment.
  16. In the end Sveum, was not a big game manager http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif.
  17. I won the chance to buy NLCS tickets. Now I just need the Brewers to go on a three game winning streak.
  18. Thanks, at least I it's good to know that I was not wasting my time trying. I was strange after I had picked a location it would sometimes say that was an invalid price or something and then give me an alternate location. For a while it was flipping back and forth between club outfield and terrace box, I'd pick club and it would say invalid and give me terrace box as the only option then it would say the same about that and give me club outfield as the only option.
  19. I got the email announcing the last minute ticket opportunity, but was not successful. I was wondering, for future reference, if anyone knows were/are they also selling these last minute tickets at the Miller Park ticket window? Also the email said: PLEASE NOTE: Seat location is not guaranteed. Single seats and obstructed view are available. I took that to mean that some were single seats and/or obstructed, but not all. Does anyone know if that is the correct interpretation or did that mean that all that was left were single and/or obstructed seats? (cleaned up code --1992)
  20. Fans in Milwaukee will drive themselves crazy with "what ifs" after this series. While this is true, I think it is always often going to be like that in a series like this. Things are no different for the Cubs...what if they did not make Zambrano have to get 7 outs in the 2nd inning last night? Should we prefer having a non-cempetitive team? Isn't it better to see the team be just a couple breaks from maybe being up 2-0, rather than having them get blown out? The what if's extend to the regular season...what if they had clinched a day earlier and CC had gotten a chance to rest? Without doubt, this was the most difficult two games to watch for Brewers fans since the 1982 World Series. I don't feel that way. Do others? While it is disappointing (especially since just yesterday I got a notice from the Brewers that I won the right to buy NLCS tickets), several regular season games seemed more painful to me.
  21. Yep, it's not even close because with no Sheets, the Brewers are likely not in a position where they would have gone after CC.
  22. That is true but we are supposed to have this great offense that overcomes the expected relatively poor defense.
  23. My ideal would be Brewers beat the Cubs in the NLCS and then they beat the White Sox in the World Series. I just like the idea of an I-94 NLCS and WS. It's hard for me to rank the teams, as I'd like the NL to win but then the Rays seem like an appealing story and the Dodgers or Phillies winning is not really appealing to me for some reason. I'd probably go something like (but my 4-6 are pretty close to a toss-up): 1. Brewers 2. Cubs 3. Rays 4. White Sox 5. Phillies 6. Dodgers 7. Angels 8. Red Sox
