  1. Can't happy if your a Saints fan that we are in this now.
  2. Now 8-6 Pirates on a quick 2run HR from Swanson to start the 9th.
  3. Far from giving up on him, but I would certainly be grateful if I was him that I signed that extension right now.
  4. Have to agree on the Canha option at this point. It would be nice to have enough depth and competition that the young guys have to earn it more with the bat. Given what the offense has looked recently just avoiding the blackhole problems we had sure makes it look like we've be head to head with LA for that second overall seed, which would be fun.
  5. Best part of the article was it saying Santana had not had much impact, and then he hit 2 HRs last night..
  6. I didn't get the game turned on until just before halftime, and I can't recall ever seeing coverage as over the top. It was just sight to behold. My wife was laughing out loud.
  7. This has been quite the way to comeback after yesterday. And I'd like our chances in most playoff series if Burnes and Woody pitch like this.
  8. That is a solid way to handle the value of seeding, so still definitely some value to play for towards the end of the season.
  9. You are incorrect that is 6 runs on Nola
  10. Is counsell trolling us by having Chafin warming up?
  11. If there was justice they would definitely be on the contraction list.
  12. I see a lot of pressure on the Cubs this series. At a minimum they need to win the series, even then they only make up 1 game in the standings, but they give themselves a chance to be in position that final series. Losing the series though means not only do they fall another game back, but then we only need to win 1 game in the final series to have the tie-breaker. If the Brewers somehow sweep it would certainly feel all but over with effectively an 8 game lead at that point.
  13. Interesting that Thigpen appears on the list the year after setting the save record.
  14. I hadn't fully appreciated how many tough save chances Devin has had. That is a lot of tight games to pitch in successfully.
  15. My baseball listening was getting erratic during those years, but I definitely remember listening to Woodard's game and I was a pretty big Clemens fan at the time so it was something else to listen too.
  16. I went full geothermal a few years ago, definitely not bugged by that at all. What I pay to air condition now is almost trivial, I pay more if I have to run the dehumidifier in the basement.
  17. I would tend to agree with Jopal here. At this point in the season a 6th rotation member saves maybe 1 start for the other pitchers and that seems rather insignificant in workload in isolation. Chafin getting another week to see if he can not blow-up a game before you make a decision on adding Gasser to the pen, gives you options there, and certainly with basically just a month of the season if someone went down or Houser really kept struggling into September you could get Gasser out of the pen and back into starting with minimal ramp-up time.
  18. But if other players need a break and their bats are inferior they should just get the day off instead of DHing.
  19. How is that we can seemingly identify and redeem pitchers all the time except bullpen guys at the deadline?
  20. DHing Yelich and Contreras for a bit of a breather is 2 games a week, leaving 4 to 5 for a primary DH. That's pretty much full time. No one else in the line-up is hitting well enough to justify needing DH ABs, just rest them. You'd also have that DH person available to pinch hit in those 2 games they aren't starting. If he keeps hitting this is what Rowdy will end up doing so it's not a justification for Hiura.
