  1. Long term it's not really an issue, but I would guess the Brewers might in part be slow to promote Quero because Catcher is not an immediate need. He's still super young let him work on AA the whole year, get some more time next year in spring working with the MLB guys and send him to AAA as a potential call-up but really hoping you don't need him full time for 2 more years.
  2. Any recommendations for getting them out of my house? I bought a vacant house 5 years ago in Clark County, and it had been overrun. We spray outside windows and doors twice a years and it's manageable but they die year round inside the house and I haven't quite figured out how to clear out those that somehow lay eggs that hatch throughout the winter.
  3. I wouldn't be surprised to see them lean towards pitchers a bit next year. We certainly have some, and I have confidence at this point that between savy pick-ups and good development we should always have solid or better bullpen options available, so we aren't desperate for pitching or anything, but you can never have too many pitching prospects.
  4. This thread will only last days until it becomes moot after his promotion.
  5. I just wished my grandpa was still around so I could ask him about what it was like when the Cards were bad all the time.
  6. Seems like a good place to comment that Chourio is just a little under the league average OPS for the Southern League despite being almost 5 years younger than average, his strikeout rate is reasonable and he plays an up the middle position. Not a breakout performance, but definitely holding his own and developing. There are different ways for him to get there of course, but if he went 2-4 with a HR and double tomorrow he's be almost exactly on the league average OPS to put some context on how close he is already.
  7. I'd settle for a higher contact OBP heavy .750 OPS bat who plays above average defense at first
  8. If we had fewer issues in the line-up I'd be willing to trade Chourio to rent Ohtani, but that's about it. As I look at the leader boards for LF, 1st, and DH I miss the 90's when sluggers who were defense optional grew on trees. Our production there has been terrible, but even almost all the modest .800 OPS level bats are already on contenders.
  9. Was it maybe a check you deposited from someone else? I had that happen once, very annoying because it was family as well.
  10. Throw in that Pittsburgh game from last week along with the 2 close ones from this series and we are really close to having gone on one heck of a streak.
  11. Caratini frames so well he can steal balls while at bat.
  12. Yelich is moving past just 'Marlins' Yelich and ever so slightly closer to MVP Yelich.
  13. Over the decades the various student loan programs and forgiveness options have just built a litany of problems (some I would argue fit a lay person definition of fraud). As a less common example I discovered the hardway over a decade ago that the public service forgiveness was a joke, and not even for all the reasons commonly given. It was heavily promoted at my private grad university as an option for all working on our licenses, but buried in all that red tape was that the forgiveness only ever worked for specific types of public loans. None of which were actually offered as part of my package to begin with. Frankly most of the loans I'd ever been offered did not qualify at that time. Then of course there was the standard repayment options defaulted to paying off your loan in 10 years anyway, so by time you qualify there is nothing left. I also realized that despite working in a major metro area, you can't guarantee that you get hired at a district that qualifies for the forgiveness option was a frequently overlook hurdle. Today of course you could almost guarantee your district qualifies, but fluctuating economic condition can alter whether or not your district qualifies over the course of 10 years. All of which just amplifies OWBC's point about all of these things being overly dependent on predicting the future. My teaching cohort actually had both an ex-physician and an ex-professional cyclist. So while I can try and play the complicated gymnastics, better policy is something simpler and more robust.
  14. The replay sure made it look like Turang should have gone to second though.
  15. Since coming back Winker has done just enough when combined with the timing of Huira's injury and return that he has bought himself more time. The Brewers tend to give players with recent track records a solid chance to turn things around. He hasn't done a lot, but enough that I won't read anything in until something dramatic happens or we hit the trade deadline.
  16. It would definitely de a great time to match the Reds recent hot streak.
  17. Also looking at the box score given how much production he seems to crank out seeing Quero with only an .866 OPS currently is a bit surprising.
  18. Well some early highlights, it's 2-2 in the 5th inning for Biloxi with Quero already filling up his box score with a single and a HR. Carolina comes out on top 7-3 with Lara on base 4 times.
  19. Solid still a little bittersweet to not get the sweep.
  20. By the numbers Turang was still out producing Urias before being sent down. Only marginally better on offense but the defense measured out noticeably better. Not a lot of obvious options at the moment, so seeing if Turang figured out how to hit a little more consistently is definitely a worthwhile try.
  21. The video makes it look like Sal hit that off the top or slightly above the knee while Yelich was a little farther down.
  22. Nice win for tonight, We're just saving our 10 game hot streak for right before the All star Break.
  23. It's nice not to leave relatively easy runs at 3rd base for once.
  24. If others are looking right now: Tech Ed, Math, or Science teaching jobs in Wisconsin. My son got hired in less than a day with still needing to get into a license program. Sped is a big shortage as well, but you kind of need the license for that one.
