  1. I would guess you could time sync the chip in the ball with the TV broadcast to quickly figure out the correct spot.
  2. For as bad as they were getting hammered if not for that ridiculous closing speed by the OSU safety at the end of the half they score that touchdown right at the end of the first half, and maybe have a little more spring in their step to start the second half as any score at that point and it really looks like a game again. I'm sure they get beat regardless, but suddenly you have to at least look favorably on the offense scoring a bunch of points on the road against a tough team. Which arguably would have been even more impressive because they would have done so without cheap turn over points or being able to play field position.
  3. For 20 years now Jeff Cirillo has been the answer to the question: Who would be really great to slot into 3rd base. Good defense, modest power, high OBP and that high average has always looked good. In Brewerfan world he was appreciated at the time of the trade (and most of us thought the trade wasn't all that great from the beginning), but generally I do think he was underappreciated with that lower HR total in the steroid era.
  4. You know if Wong can get to that 30 HR mark this season I'd feel really good about our chances of making the playoffs.
  5. Don't want to slight Ruiz, so in almost identical numbers of plate appearances his OPS in the international league is only slightly lower then his PCL numbers this year. His BA and SLG are actually higher with Nashville.
  6. Put another way Sal has been good enough now in AAA he would need to hit a nearly empty .200 batting average for the next 40 or so ABs to bring his AAA line down to his AA line.
  7. It helps we have 2 teams we can catch. So it the combination of chances that we either play really well, 1 of them collapses, or we play well and someone else is meh.
  8. I concur Strange New Worlds is really fun. Anson Mount is a very fun captain.
  9. The only question is will Chourio complete his dream season with a cycle or a 4HR day.
  10. Cole isn't a left so that helps our chances of a 10-8 win.
  11. It still doesn't take much if Woodruff and Burnes get hot at the same time for the postseason.
  12. Solid AB there from Mitchell. Also this game is going to take forever.
  13. Plenty of interesting players to follow there.
  14. High OBP modest power, super high average, Frelick is Ichiroesque with another 2 hit game already
  15. In the scope of things we've had a reasonable amount of starting pitching injuries this year (that they seemingly all hit when the bullpen got hammered at the same time less so), but every starter underperformed last year. Burnes and Woody have still been fine overall, but still that step back. Small and Ashby being negatives was compounded by Lauer being a bit worse and Houser also not quite slotting in as expected.
  16. Even 15 minutes would be a pretty big deal.
  17. Thought experiment, are the Brewers splits bad enough for a middle of the road pitcher to just attempt switching hands against us...
  18. Star Trek Deep Space 9 does a solid job of covering a future were baseball dies, which is why I'm in 100% agreement with Brock that the players union is totally on the wrong side here. Even in a cynical narrow sense that any current players will still get paid throughout their careers that sweet pension isn't guaranteed forever if the popularity falls off a cliff.
  19. That combined with the pitch clock leads to some noticeable advantages for the runner. As a pitcher you really need to hold on to that second pick-off attempt until deep in the AB or you are really leaving the door open. As written if you used your 2 throws super early there would be little stopping you from a huge lead off second if you already stole it within the same AB. We need a Rickey Henderson quote on this, something to the effect of how he'd have stolen 200 bases under those rules..
  20. I'm definitely a keep getting bites at the apple believer. Having already dealt Hader there is a little less pressure in my mind on having all these really good pitchers going away at the same time, but it is still there and It makes sense to explore strongly a big offseason deal while you don't have the immediate pressure and see what the return looks like. If there hadn't been such development on the farm this year I'd have been more concerned, but we have a lot of internal options for plausibly believing we can improve the team, so it is easier to take that step back and think about overall value and explore. That premium stearns put on roster flexibility helps a ton in that regard.
  21. With Philly losing now just 2.5 games back so that was a pretty big shift in the right direction finally
  22. I'm glad Jacob is getting the chance to get his feet wet, and then get Fall Instructionals in. Staring up at a full season with his current level of control might be a challenge.
  23. Well Jacob managed to not give-up a hit and last an inning and 1/3 with 3Ks. He also walked 3 hit a batter and exited with the bases loaded.
  24. Maybe we are just trying to delay starting Craigtember long enough to push all the way through October this year...
