  1. I guess we all see things differently, I have never been real high on Clark but he has impressed me this year and I really hope they don't trade him. Contrary to what you say Clark is very young for his level and at this rate will be a major leaguer at 22. Diaz is also young for his level and as mentioned has been solid except for his horrible June, would also be disappointed if Diaz was traded. If the Brewers could get a player like Gray for a package centered on Ray then I would do it as he may very well be at his prospect peak. I would also add that if you are looking to trade somebody else at their peak then Burnes would be a guy to shop.
  2. I would certainly take 1-2 against the Nationals and a sweep of the Cubs, would mean another week starting in first place.
  3. Yeah, it will be a $5 million option. He spent more than 130 days on the DL but it wasn't during a 183 day window so the $1 million options isn't in play and there is not way he can vest the $13 million.
  4. I don't think Clancy is ever trying to be outlandish, he really believed Suter was the top prospect and isn't afraid to deviate from ranking norms. I have nevet felt his ranking have skewed the list because even with Suter at #1 it didn't really impact overall rankings.
  5. I don't know, that one still makes me scratch my head since neither Madson/Doolittle are rentals. That would be great if the market for relievers isn't as high this year but maybe the Madson/Doolitle trade was the exception to the rule.
  6. Hernan Perez has a 2.111 OPS against Jameson Taillon. The combination of Nelson and Perez should put an end to this losing streak and start a winning streak.
  7. I was wondering how Blazek could be recalled so soon but I guess he takes Vogt's spot and is considered an injury replacement.
  8. Extremely small sample, he hasn't done much of anything his previous couple of years in Biloxi. Finish the year strong and start in AAA next year. Still highly doubt he is a 40 man add after the season.
  9. As of right now I would take the guarantee because I don't believe they have a 50/50 shot of reaching the NLDS right now.
  10. I view Shaw as part of the core but don't see an extension for him coming anytime soon, he will be 31 at the end of his time here just playing it year to year.
  11. Thinking long view the only players worth anything are HOF players so if I had to pick a potential HOF player it would be Clark or Hiura.
  12. Eligibilty is based on the 40 man roster, don't have to be on 25 man.
  13. I'm fine with this, Aguilar was pretty much in the same spot not too long ago being a veteran minor leaguer who has never really been given a chance in the bigs. Aguilar has proven he can hit big league pitching and is just as controllable as Cooper so might as well keep the guy that has proven something and trade the other for something of need. I am curious what they think of Wang though.
  14. To me this is the perfect light hearted thread when nothing is going on during All Star week, I'm sure Tim Dillard would approve.
  15. We all know the Brewers have a ton of depth in the OF in the minors but Cabrera would be nice insurance for Braun during the rest of the year when he takes days off or goes on the DL. I like Perez but I would prefer one more veteran player with playoff experience that could step right in and play. Could be a throw in if they go after Quintana but if they just went after Cabrera I can't imagine it costing too much if the Brewers pick up the salary. Final year of his contract. Thinking of him as a Ray Durham type pickup that the 2008 Brewers had.
  16. I was pretty similar to yours but gave the edge to Nelson on the Cy Young. I also give Pina the slight edge over Aguilar for ROY because of Pina's defense but that could certainly change by the end of the year. Comeback player of the Year: Eric Thames Rookie of the Year: Manny Pina Cy Young: Jimmy Nelson MVP: Travis Shaw
  17. It might be but it is a little dishonest of the Brewers to sell these because those are the people they are marketing this to. They are giving a wink and a nod when they tell everybody to stay in the seat they bought.
  18. Right, they can already invest in other players and could spend more if they desired. Money isn't holding them back they are choosing not to spend more.
  19. I really don't know why they would do that especially with no salary cap or cap hit or anything like that to worry about. The Brewers could pocket the money now and pay later.
  20. Also, Hughes isn't a free agent, he is arbitration eligible and the way he has been pitching could stick around. Certainly would keep him over Espino.
  21. Maybe they will do what they did last year and send Davies to the minors before the All Star break.
  22. When rhe Brewers say outrighted to AA doesn't that mean he has already cleared waivers.
  23. I don’t think you meant this as a slight… but it kind of sounds like you are suggesting to those that do this that it is a juvenile behavior and that is dangerous territory. Are we telling me people how to enjoy games now? I am absolutely a ballpark roamer when I go to games. Part of the fun of it for my brother and I is to get a 360 view of the field throughout the day. Even though I’ve been to Miller Park countless numbers of times, I still like watching from behind the plate as well as down the lines and into the outfield bleachers. I love the different views. It doesn’t make sense for me, on any level, to buy a $40+ ticket if I am going to be wandering around AND then there is an empty seat closer to the field and that isn’t a good look either for the team. If I lived closer to Milwaukee I’d be all over this deal. For me it isn’t about being cheap and trying to get free upgrades … it is simply getting into the atmosphere at a price that is reasonable for someone who is there to take in the entire ballpark. I’m still patronizing the concession stands like you and, most importantly, I’m cheering for the correct team. There is room in the stadium for all personalities, I wouldn’t talk down to any of them, we are all putting money into the same pot. With that said, If I do sit down for an inning or more in a different section I am cognizant of where I am and like someone else said I’m not going to take the best seats that are there out of respect for who paid for them. Likewise, I will have waited for a while to make sure they are empty seats and I’m very polite if someone ever does show that is supposed to be there. There are different ways to watch a game. I think this deal is just a tip of the cap to those of us who do it a bit differently. I don’t think it is meant as a slight to anyone else. I agree it is dangerous territory however yes the Brewers do already tell you how to enjoy games. They tell you to sit in only your assigned seat and announce this before and during the game. They are now selling these standing room seats for cheap and they likely know people are not going to stand around all day and will end up sitting in seats that don't belong to them. To me they are being hypocritical.
  24. I would do this if I was younger but with a family of 4 I don't think I could even do this because from what I can tell every fan needs an account and you can't just buy 4. Also with it being standing room only it is kind of a hassle. I can deal with sitting in the terrace but don't want to deal with people telling me I am in their seat or an usher asking for my ticket. They should assign a seat with a possible exclusion for Cubs games. I can't imagine even 1,000 people will buy this.
  25. I believe the headline at the time mentioned Stearns not skipping steps in the rebuilding process. I take that as a positive, he won't sell the farm but is willing to improve the current club, even marginally. I like the Vogt move because with his salary it showed that they will take on money to improve the club, think there will be opportunity to take on players with a larger conract without giving up top prospects.
