  1. I wonder if they would allow somebody to wear a shirt that said Bat$h!t Crazy in the park.
  2. I think position player and Perez was DFA during the 2015 offseason and was a free agent for a bit.
  3. No, Diaz would be a long term commitment on the 40 man that would be in the minor leagues, there are always rotating guys on the 40 man that are needed to fill the major league 25 man roster. Still a fine decision by Stearns to leave him off because you can only protect 15 minor leaguers max at one time and it wasn't worth putting a low A ball player on the 40 man for three years and hope he stick in the bigs the 4th year.
  4. Diaz also has major control issues, had 10 straight balls the other day. Since the Padres are so bad I imagine they stick with him but once the season starts and he is facing big league hitters I think it is going to be a real struggle, just as bad as when Wang was on the team.
  5. I tend to agree with Fondy, I expect Baylor to take care of South Carolina fairly easily. However, I like Florida more than most and think they beat Wisconsin and make a run at the national title.
  6. That is a good question, if he makes the team Counsell indicated it would be in the bullpen but not sure of the plans if he doesn't make the team.
  7. What that tells me is Santana should start looking at a first base glove and maybe Perez is actually a viable backup or injury replacement in the outfield.
  8. If the organization views Reed as a 4th OF on the AAA team then they should remove him from the 40 man.
  9. I have done a couple baseball tours of around 10 games each and have picked up other team's hats along the way. As long as they are not playing the Brewers I like to root for the home team and it is a little souvenir for visiting that stadium. I still have a couple of Seattle hats from when I was younger and a big Griffey fan.
  10. No, but he will be given every opportunity to be the starter.
  11. I don't think it is obvious at all. I do agree it is a prediction of what they will do and not what we want which is why the vast majority are saying Garza is sticking around. To me there is no reason to believe they will be getting rid of Garza right now.
  12. Agree with ZBTMP on the bullpen, think Nelson is the one that get sent down and Garza keeps his job for now. Even though Reed has options I actually think Reed and Aguilar are fighting it out for not only a spot on the 25 man roster but also the 40 man roster as somebody will have to be removed if Joba makes the team.
  13. I don't know, makes sense to me since everybody on the major league DL accrues service time and major league pay. I think ultimately it protects the player and something the union fought for during the years so that ownership didn't screw players that got injured while in the majors. Even today you will see players get optioned then rescinded and put on the DL because the player was hurt. Unfortunately for Houser he was hurt in the minors.
  14. I don't even think 2013 counts as a year as I don't believe he spent 90 days on an active list.
  15. I'll just give the factual answer and say it is not possible since the MLB minimum is $535,000 plus there are always players that end up on the DL so players get paid MLB salary when called up.
  16. The Horizon League won't be a laughing stock because nobody cares about it. If UWM makes it then it is just one of those stories that makes the tournament interesting.
  17. There will likely be aTrevor Hoffman night or something similar after he gets inducted but that is a far cry from getting his number retired and a statue. Just getting in the HOF results in an automatic induction into the Brewers Wall of Honor.
  18. Knowing MLB put the Brewers at #2 for hitting and #8 for pitching not surprising that they ended up at #5. Link for the top 30 headlined by Brinson. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017?list=mil
  19. Jenkins deserves the walk of fame over Simmons and deserves to be the next member of the walk of fame, Simmons had a great career but wasn't great with the Brewers. Not sure why you would be upset over Simmons but then complain about Fingers as Fingers meant much more to the Brewers.
  20. I know it is a total hypothetical but I imagine the insurance still plays into this. If the Rangers can't release Prince I don't see how the Brewers could release him with insurance still paying their portion.
  21. If Archer can maintain his 3.42 ERA in AAA like he did the past three years that would be quite impressive.
  22. Hard to say if it is a smart move or not without knowing the length of the deal but I imagine Adambr2 is accurate in that they tried to buy out a year of free agency. If that is the case I think it is more risk than reward for Villar. Sure he would delay free agency by a year but if he is still a solid player he would still get a real nice contract at 30 vs the 29 he will be when he is set to become a free agent. Of course Villar may still be willing to sign and is just holding out for a few million more.
  23. If the Brewers want to spend a little more money for a prospect I would rather they just see what they have in Susac and then just take on a bad contract from another team and get a prospect in return. Then they don't have to worry about if they can flip the player or not.
  24. It will still sell out but if people were looking to make a nice profit like in past years it is not likely to happen and might even see tickets go below face on places like stubhub.
  25. Tom H had it Friday.
