  1. While I agree the team isn't good, superstars will get teams to the playoffs and Giannis is certainly turning into one. Jabari is starting to become the scorer we all thought he would be as well. Even if we want the team to tank it is not happening as long as Giannis is healthy.
  2. If Jones is really expected to be a great reliever in a year then the Brewers should draft him again.
  3. If Thompson ends up being done after this year the new GM should at the very least have plenty of cap space to work with. I would think Cobb and Shields are released after the year and Nelson is certainly looking at salary cut or being released. Think Mathews sticks around 1 more year but that would obviously create a lot more cap space as well.
  4. The rule 5 draft isn't until December 8th.
  5. I really think they should have added Wang or still consider adding him. Unlike other rule 5 draft guys if he is selected then the Brewers don't really have a chance of getting him back as he will become a free agent if not retained by the drafting team since this would be his second time drafted.
  6. I'm just going to assume if it isn't a team from his no trade list that he isn't going anywhere. Once he gets his 10/5 rights I'm assuming Brewers for life so there must be some urgency to get a trade done this winter.
  7. I imagine Hernan Perez will play for Venezuela.
  8. I know the Brewers have a low payroll but don't think it is worth the money to try him in the bullpen. If he stinks it up as a starter to begin the year again then I would give it a shot just to see if it is worth tendering him a contract in 2018.
  9. I think Carter's future is uncertain so with only 3 bobbles it was an easy call to exclude him.
  10. I really dislike the replica ring. At least they didn't schedule it during a Cardinals or Cubs game so I can avoid being mocked as a Brewers fan all game.
  11. I tend to agree with that. I understand why they would remove Liriano since he has no more options but it wouldn't have been that bad to have him as a 5th outfielder next year, certainly couldn't have done worse than Flores. Along those same lines I don't think Tyron Taylor will ever be anything special but he probably has a better chance than Kirk N since age is on his side.
  12. Also it should be noted that he wasn't arrested for fighting, if it got to the point where he beat the crap out of a guy then he most certainly could be facing suspension.
  13. I expected way worse after reading the headline, hopefully a lesson learned.
  14. Agreed, I didn't think he would be added before because of the injury but has shown enough to indicate he still has some pretty good stuff. Don't know if he will ever be a starter but certainly a real good bullpen piece.
  15. Yeah, it hasn't been updated. If it was correct it would say 2020. The free agent year is based on the season he will be a free agent even though technically he would be a free agent in November 2019.
  16. He is controlled through 2019, will have 4 arbitration years. He is just under 4 years of service time.
  17. I understand what you are saying and makes perfect sense but don't think the comparison is fair. Castro/Pina are the same age but Castro is putting those numbers in the majors while Pina is doing that in the minors. With how difficult it is to find good catching every MLB team pretty much whiffed on Manny Pina for a number of years if he really ends up hitting RHP in the majors as good as Castro does.
  18. Cecchini, Elmore, Wilkins and Nolin were also removed.
  19. I think it will be extremely hard for him to jump to the big leagues after missing all if last year with a head injury. Pretty decent chance the White Six remove him from the 40 man as well at some point to get him playing time in the minors.
  20. Yeah Flores would have a hard time getting at bats in AAA much less Milwaukee. Time to move on and hopefully for Flores a change of scenery does him well.
  21. Phillips would definitely stick with the club that drafted him and if by some miracle he was put on waivers he would be claimed before the Brewers would have a chance to take him back. Losing a top 100 player for nothing would be a huge mistake no matter what you think of him as a player.
  22. They are up 3 games to 1. In game 5 at Wrigley they have the bases loaded in a tie game with one out in the ninth, there is a 6-4-3 ground ball that the Cubs player beats at first and the Cubs win the World Series... until replay says otherwise. The Cubs end up losing game 5 and the next two games in Cleveland. They have a taste of being a champion but have it taken away.
  23. Susac is 27 all of next year not 24. Might still be the best of the 3 but not exactly a top prospect anymore. Would certainly take Castro over Maldonado but Castro was paid $5 million last year and I don't know if the Brewers would be willing to give a longer term deal to Castro when they could just go cheap with Susac/Pina.
  24. They have been in the past. Usually there is a couple of year grace period so a guy like Corey Ray or Trent Clark couldn't get drafted.
  25. Tebow is selling a bunch of jersey so I imagine the Mets won't lose anything out of this deal. It's a business, I don't really care what the Mets do with their minor league system. If the Mets called him up I would have an issue but don't see that happening.
