  1. If you are the 24th man on the roster you are getting plenty of financial perks, a nice pension and health insurance, especially if you can be that guy for a number of years. However, I do agree that it would be very difficult on a family to have a father playing baseball professionally
  2. I'm thinking he might stick the rest of the year because of the option available this year and the assumed trades that will be going down.
  3. I like that comparison, think you might be right.
  4. There is no potential of getting an extra year of control with this move unless they feel like keeping him there nearly the whole month.
  5. They have had plenty of chances to send down Barnes and have not so I would think that is a good sign for Barnes and have confidence in him.
  6. With what Junior Guerra has done I am more intrigued with the pitching prospect than I normally would be.
  7. Unfortunate as this was completely avoidable drama. Didn't realize Boras was his agent.
  8. Yeah never really asked, without violating forum rules it was more their actions indicating a yes.
  9. I hope they call him back up for the Cardinals series. Having the option available is far more valuable to the Brewers than the service time with Knebel. Just gives them more flexibility next year.
  10. I don't really think it matters anyway since he has two options remaining. If he implodes in a couple of years like Peralta he could still be sent down. Don't really understand why they just didn't send Anderson down after Sunday to bring up Middlebrooks and kept Broxton.
  11. Yep, I don't think much of him but Stearns picked him up for a reason so might as well see if any of his recent success can translate at the big league level. I am more of the opinion that the Brewers will trade a bunch off guys including Hill, so there should be plenty of opportunity for Middlebrooks to get at bats after July 31.
  12. I think it is near impossible for neither Braun or Lucroy to make it.
  13. This is very true, I think all three of those AL teams will make a play for Lucroy and that can only benefit the Brewers. Nice that the Astros have been on fire as well. At one point I thought there might not be a contender that would see a big enough benefit to add Lucroy in exchange for the prospects the Brewers want. However, now if you don't make the move your team doesn't get better and your competition gets significantly better.
  14. It might make sense to demote Anderson after his next start as they wouldn't need him again until after the break and could use another guy on the bench.
  15. I guess they could play Elmore in the outfield if they need a right handed outfielder but I would rather not have another lefty outfielder in Wren. Reed had a good start but then got injured and struggled for quite a bit, he is again hitting well so he might be an option in the not too distant future. Still no power but continues to get on base at a high rate.
  16. They have been pretty aggressive with Malik Collymore this year as well going from rookie ball to A+. Has responded well thus far with 268/359/375, not sure if he is the odd man out though with Ray coming. Maybe down to low A.
  17. I agree that Gallo is a risk, but his upside - that of a 35-40 HR guy - is pretty tantalizing. A power hitter like Gallo is someone this system really lacks, so it would be nice to have. Plus it would just be cool to watch the guy - you just never know when one would go out of the park. What team are you watching? 6 weeks prior to opening day, the Brewers had not one but two 35-40 HR guys, Davis and Carter. They traded Davis, but still have Carter, who's controllable through 2018 and is exactly the same kind of hitter. Team wasn't mentioned, system was. The system currently is lacking power and it is not exactly a controversial statement.
  18. Per Cait Covers the Bases Greg Vaughn will be signing autographs for 45 minutes during the game starting at 1:10. So if you want your bobblehead signed without paying $90 this may be a good opportunity. http://brewers.mlblogs.com/2016/06/16/greg-vaughn-to-attend-his-all-fan-bobblehead-giveaway-day/
  19. Unfortunate about Harrison, I remember last July he was really getting going with a OPS over 1 in July then he got hurt. Started out poorly this year, really gets going again in June with a OPS over 1 and hurt again.
  20. There are still question marks regarding if Phillips can stick in CF in the majors so I certainly wouldn't rule out Ray as a potential future CF.
  21. It appears that he has finally figured things out at 25. Hitting 311/419/529 between AA and AAA this year. Could end up being a heck of a trade for Arizona. Since the Brewers received Davies in return for Parra it doesn't hurt as much for me anymore but still would be nice to have Banda in the system.
  22. I don't really agree with that. He is an older prospect but this is only his fourth year professionally and has been able to produce 350/414/486 during his time in AA. Middlebrooks has been playing for nearly a decade and everybody pretty much knows what he is a this point. Jason Rogers didn't make it the majors until 26 and he was flipped for prospects, maybe Cooper could produce moderately during these transitional years and be flipped for something as well.
  23. That 92 team was so fun to watch. Hamilton had a heck of a year and seeing Listach, Hamilton and Molitor steal 30+ bases each that year added to the fun. I know they didn't win anything but I wonder if the Brewers will do anything for the 25th anniversary. Probably not, especially since the year ends in 2 and they can just default to 82 but it was the most fun year I had as a fan and Hamilton was a big part of it.
  24. He didn't even do that but being on the MLB disabled list gets him the same benefits I believe. At the very least he had MLB pay and service time. Also can declare free agency if DFA again or if selected in the rule 5 draft again and doesn't stick. In theory the Brewers could select him in the rule 5 draft again and then release him in spring training and tell him they will add him to the 40 man roster if he resigns with them.
  25. Any reason for not mentioning Edwin Diaz? I think if the Mariners parted with him a deal could get done.
