  1. In one month with the Brewers he has 18 hits in 50 at bats. From 2012 to 2015 he had 106 at bats and only 17 hits with the Tigers. Pretty amazing month, hoping he keeps it up.
  2. I was one that wanted him DFA so that he could play everyday. But now that he is getting more playing time he really looks the part. I understand his minor league numbers are not that promising but when I see him play he impresses me and I can see a big league 3B. It is old school and it may be me trying to find hope in this team but I think the Brewers might have found something here.
  3. Also he will not use an option next year which is one of the reasons he was removed from the 40 man.
  4. Colon's fortunes have sure changed. Was 6-1 with a 3.30 ERA when he first faced the Brewers. Including his start against the Brewers on May 15th he is 3-4 with a 6.58 ERA.
  5. They were cashing in on Hank long before that and were pretty good after Spring training so it is hard to blame the dog for this one.
  6. I don't really like the trade for either team really. Giving a team $10 million for a prospect seems like an overpay and sending away your prior number one pick for money does not look good at all to your fans and has the potential to make you look really stupid if he ends up being a good player.
  7. Can't believe I am saying this but Perez has been passing the eye test lately both offensively and defensively. Hopefully Ramirez is gone soon so that the Brewers can play him and Dominguez for the remainder of the season.
  8. I think the GM will get fired or MLB won't even give them the choice and just suspend him. Just feel they will be made as an example to show that MLB will not tolerate this. I have serious doubts that the GM did not know about this though, maybe not until later but my guess is that he knew.
  9. I'm with you, he was called countless names by usually level headed people here. Good job Doug knowing that nobody else would put him on the 40 man roster. Congrats Wang on being able to develop at your own pace now.
  10. Wouldn't be opposed but only one more year of arbitration so if he does well it is basically just a trade piece for next summer's deadline.
  11. Yeah that is a head scratcher. He has made quite an offensive leap this season, hopefully he can keep it up the second half of the season.
  12. How is it better to give every team in the league from now until the rule 5 draft to plan to get Wang? His option for the year is already used and he has to be put back on the 40 man or he will be available for the rule 5 draft. There is zero chance he gets picked in the rule 5 draft. If not claimed the Brewers save an option for at least the 2016 season and depending on progressthe 2017 season. Plus the Brewers can now protect another guy or do the rule 5 strategy again in 2016.
  13. Other names that could have been removed keep on being mentioned but that is missing the point of the move. The Brewers want to get Wang off the 40 man and felt this was as good a time as any. Those other guys mentioned will likely be removed from the 40 man sometime this year or shortly after the season as well because they have no future with the Brewers. The problem with waiting with Wang is that many teams will have open spots then and Wang would more likely be claimed. I give credit to the Brewers for thinking about the future and putting Wang into a better position to succeed if he does not get claimed.
  14. He would not be added to the 40 man in the winter, teams would be insane to draft him in the rule 5 draft again.
  15. A calculated gamble, if Wang clears then the Brewers get more time to develop him. If he doesn't then another team will be forced to play him at the big league level in 2018 when he is not ready again or he will just be DFA again. Now the Brewers have somebody to play third during the rebuild and control through at least 2019.
  16. Even though it is not spelled the same I think I will be fine if there is never another Betancourt on a Brewers team.
  17. This is great, can shut Cardinals fans up now when they say guys like Gomez should respect the game and stuff like that would not be tolerated in the Cardinals organization.
  18. DFA does not mean that they would give up on him, it would actually lift a monkey off his back. Right now he has to move up a level a year before he runs out of options in 2018 and he is already behind at A+. He can move at his own pace and if he eventually pitches well at AA then he can be added again. People seem to forget that Brooks Hall was DFA and he is now pitching well at AA and probably will be added again to the 40 man this year plus they didn't have to waste another option in 2015. It is a strategic move.
  19. This is perfect timing for the Bucks to resign Middleton. Even at 15 million it is fine and far from an overpay because the cap will be increasing quite a bit the next few years and they would not be able to get a player like Middleton at that price in a year or two. Just another sign that things are turning around for the Bucks franchise. Add in that Giannis, Parker and MCW are not making much it is a no brainer to match any offer for Middleton.
  20. I would really consider DFA for Wang. I just don't see him being ready by 2018 and it would be nice to save an option or two down the road. It is not like somebody is going to pick him up in the rule 5 draft again this year.
  21. A quote from Keith Law that praises first round pick Trent Clark but also shows that Keith Law is high on Reed: He's a kid who hit all last summer against the best pitching, and immediately becomes the Brewers' second-best prospect, right between shortstop Orlando Arcia and outfielder Michael Reed.
  22. I just think he would clear waivers considering he has no options and has played rather poorly. He isn't going to get better offensively sitting on the bench and being a defensive replacement late in games. He could play every day in AAA. If the Brewers did trade Ramirez I would be fine with him playing basically every day at third since it doesn't really matter and it was be his audition for a 40 man spot in the off season.
  23. Just keep Gatewood where he is at, hitting over 400 over his last 8 games. He has played his way into staying, don't hold them back if they earn it.
  24. If Goforth can't even get into a game with Smith suspended there is no reason to be on this team.
  25. They should try to DFA Perez and send him to AAA. They already know nobody in the AL will claim him. Even though the Brewers are bad he really shouldn't be on a major league roster.
