  1. I like the trade mainly because the Pistons are probably better than them now. This roster is just a mess, throwing a bunch of middle of the road players together and hoping something good happens. Hopefully this season doesn't discourage Sanders and Henson too much because they will be bad.
  2. Nyjer Morgan doing pretty much anything post game would be more entertaining than the on field instructionals.
  3. Well the Gindl/Davis combo is producing over a .900 ops right now, won't last that high but there are options if Aoki were to be traded.
  4. This inning reminds me of a scene from Groundhog Day. Melvin: We... might be able to trade Gallardo and Axford still. [the truck explodes in a fireball] Melvin: Well, no. Probably not now.
  5. Gomez is a heck of a player but having Profar and Segura for the next six years would be amazing.
  6. Continue to be impressed by Gindl. After the April he had and being passed over by Davis and Prince his status as a Brewer was unclear. He continued to get better in the minors as the year went on and after an initial slow start in the bigs has really hit well since coming back. He is still only 24 and makes it a lot easier to trade Aoki if they get a decent offer as I wouldn't mind seeing him start in 2014.
  7. I am doubting them being too active this off season because really they don't have that much money coming off the books this year, 2015 I would agree with Ramirez and Weeks. Maybe he will try to trade Lohse, Gallardo, Aoki, Gorz, Weeks again next summer. I just don't see them taking on a lot of salary in 2014 when the possibility exists that 2014 will be another losing season and attendance is likely to decrease even more.
  8. Boo to the Milwaukee media members for not getting him into the Walk of Fame before he died. Hopefully this gives him a boost next year or management reevaluates the process in electing guys.
  9. From the link... the Brewers expect to distribute more than $3.6 million worth of vouchers. Could this be a way for them to tell the fans that they are giving back the money they will be saving from Braun's contract without mentioning him by name.
  10. Not you, the post before you.
  11. Why do you say that regarding Lawire, he certainly hasn't increased his value since going to the Jays? You could argue Melvin maybe could have gotten more if he made it more known that Lawrie was available but I think that may end up being Lawrie's peak value.
  12. I don't really live by innocent until proven guilty, a court of law sure. We all have brains and can make our decision regarding the character of a person and if they are a class act or not. I don't look up to athletes or really want my kids to either but once a certain line is crossed then I have no respect for them. K-Rod falls into that category.
  13. On Twitter local sports guy Doug Russell called him a class act #respect.
  14. If the owner made it clear he was distancing himself from Braun they could do a shirt promotion but that does not appear to be the case. Unlike MLB I imagine Braun will still be heavily marketed by the Brewers.
  15. I guess I don't agree with this, Morris will be 25 for the entire 2014 season so if he gets the job in 2015 he will only be 26. He has not shown enough in AAA to show that he deserves a starting job in the majors. If he is not a starter in 2015 he can start to worry but 2014 is not a make or break year for Morris. I am fine with them signing Hart to a one year deal or let Gamel/Halton platoon for a year. If Ramirez is sill on the team then Francisco/Halton would also do.
  16. Even locally his popularity will never be as high as it was a couple of years ago. Even if he comes back and puts up great numbers there will always be the segment that will refuse to buy anything associated with him. Plus, collectibles are a national/international thing now so if prices go down drastically nationally then they will go down locally because people that want his stuff now will buy off of ebay from the thousands that are dumping his stuff nationally.
  17. The reason he might not continue to do so is the reason you already stated which is injury. If it is really true that he didn't start until 2011 then he also believes that is the only thing preventing him from performing his entire career.
  18. Glad to see K-Rod gone, hopefully gone for good this time.
  19. Absolutely, I am far more angered with K-Rod's actions so to speak than what Braun ever did. Opposite of Patrick425, to me it is more about the crime than the lies as K-Rod's alleged crimes are way worse than Braun's crimes, if there even was a crime at all.
  20. Kind of surprised that Lucroy gave him a pass as Lucroy seems like he could be the leader of the team in the future. Not real sure what Weeks meant there, Weeks has had a tough couple of years but he certainly has the respect of the clubhouse and is probably pretty ticked off he was lied to.
  21. That is my biggest concern right now, how long was he using. I am real scared that they will be stuck paying a not so good player $120 million. Always thought he would be a Brewer for life but being a small market if they get a decent proposal in the off season they should take it but I imagine most teams don't want to deal with the drama.
  22. I think you are correct, this isn't a just in case move this is a move to spend more money, probably unwisely.
  23. Actually there is always the potential of needing a salary to make a trade match, something they could have done with Gooden next year when he was an expiring contract. All you have to do is look at Keith Bogans. He received $5million from the Nets this summer because they needed a salary in their trade with the Celtics. There isn't a person on the planet who thinks he deserved $5 million including Bogans.
  24. He doesn't have to sign somebody or trade for somebody but he will, he after all was the one that signed Gooden. I have so little faith in Hammond at this point that I am rooting for his bad moves as I don't think he is trying to tank but they just might be real bad due to horrible moves by the GM. As long as they don't trade their first round pick or get rid of Sanders/Henson/Giannis he can do whatever he wants this year. Bring in CV and Stuckey from the Pistons for all I care. I really do hope that he is fired after this year though so he doesn't screw up next year's draft when they could potentially land a franchise type player.
  25. I can't believe they actually did something completely right! Why did they do this though? They have plenty of room under the cap. What this tells me is that they are going to be giving somebody else a large stupid contract or trading for somebody with a large contract. If they didn't amnesty Gooden then they would be able to avoid the upcoming dumb move.
