  1. I know you are just posting what MLB trade rumors reported but Diaz is 30 and Leon is 27.
  2. Well Schafer is a major league caliber player just not as an everyday player. He plays outstanding defense so he fits wells as a 4/5 outfielder especially if they get rid of Aoki and need a defensive replacement in the 8th or 9th. His defense is not overrated, not sure why you would even mention that, there is not indication that his defense is overrated.
  3. I agree that the train can be a pain if going with a group of people and you go on one of the first trains when it is very busy and going back to Milwaukee at 5. I have taken it before when I knew I was staying over a couple of nights and left midday when it isn't bad. Parking is very expensive and you have the tolls and traffic but if you are going one day you do have more flexibility going by car.
  4. Sanders has started brawls with his gloating and cockiness, it is not just baseball.
  5. I don't know really what to think as I certainly can't ignore 0-9 with a 5.79 ERA and 1.59 WHIP. On the other hand I also can't ignore his 2 ERA in 66+ innings in the bigs this year so I don't know what to think. Also don't really understand how he has had success but is striking out batters a lot less than his first time in the majors and his career in the minors.
  6. I thought for sure Dave Kingman would make the list but his closest year was his last year when he had a 210/255/431 slash with 94 RBI.
  7. I don't really understand what they are doing with Francisco, they play him play much every day and then September rolls around and he rarely starts anymore. Maybe they have seen enough of him and realize he is not the answer in 2014. Edit: It probably also does not help that Francisco himself may have checked out already with his .290 OPS for the month of September.
  8. Just a thought but what about trading him to the Astros for Dominguez. The Brewers get a young 3b and the Astros get a guy that can mash with that short left field and play DH.
  9. I agree with you and don't ever expect Schafer to be a regular but I think he is getting to the point where he is about as good as Aoki and really is a very good outfielder, something that isn't captures in a ZiPS line.
  10. I think with the 40 man getting tight they need to make a decision on Gamel and Francisco so that they both don't go to arbitration, it really isn't necessary to keep both. I am also in favor now of getting rid of Badenhop to clear a spot since they have plenty of relievers at the minimum that can also be optioned back and forth between the minors and majors. If they really see something in Richardson then they should feel free to let Prince go off the 40 man and let somebody pick him in the rule v if they want.

  12. The funny thing is that Halton probably sits for the Cardinals as Roenicke wants to uphold the integrity of the game by playing the guys that give them the best chance to win against these playoff teams.
  13. I don't think there is any angst, probably wouldn't be a bad idea to bring him up to evaluate since there are no minor league teams playing.
  14. Perhaps, because a counter to that is he really going to take a 50% paycut somewhere else that his family is not familiar with? I'm just not seeing him getting a multi year deal at this point.
  15. Those two things are not mutually exclusive, and signing Hart is not blocking Morris. I'm fine with the Brewers letting Morris prove something in AAA next year and having Hart start at first and if they are out of it trading Hart and letting Morris take his place if Morris is playing better. Morris will only be 25 during the 2014 season. I am also fine with a Halton/Gamel platoon if they want to give Morris more time in AAA and save some money. Either way, just because Morris isn't the opening day 1B does not necessarily mean the Brewers have given up on him.
  16. Should also add that Davis is not the only right handed corner OF on the team if there is really such a strong demand.
  17. I would compare this Pirates team more to 2008 than the 2011 Brewers. The Pirates have work to do before they are contending for a World Series bid. If I had a guess they will be one and done.
  18. The Brewers need to make up their mind if they view Davis as an everyday player or not because if they don't view him as a starter in 2014 his trade value for the Brewers probably won't be higher than it will be this off season.
  19. I think they end up 7th at worst but think they can still pull out a top 5 pick. Fully expect the Cardinals to sweep them this weekend, Brewers will just be playing out the string on the road. Probably finish 4-9 or 5-8.
  20. Don't have inside information but went with my family and got 2 of each which might mean absolutely nothing regarding the real ratio. I would imagine the Brewers have a bunch left though with announced attendance of 26,000 and actual attendance well south of that.
  21. I sure as heck hope Lucroy doesn't move to first as he is a great catcher.
  22. Just saw in the minor league forums that the Brewers picked up Jose De La Torre from the Red Sox. His minor league stats seem pretty good and I imagine he will get strong consideration for a bullpen spot in 2014. I give credit to Melvin for improving the bullpen and continuing to have decent options in the minors. Hand, Wooten, Figaro and Thornburg all pitched effectively this year and he didn't even bring up Sanchez who had another good year in AAA. Of course Kintzler and Henderson are also a couple other cheap options that have pitched well also and they added Blazek in the Axford trade. Olmsted is another option if he remains on the 40 man and can turn it around in 2014. At a time when the Brewers are really squeezed for payroll Melvin made sure he does not have to spend much of anything in the bullpen.
  23. I agree that winning does not mean a whole lot now but the manager is an ongoing concern that does not appear to be going away anytime soon.
  24. Not sure which hotels provide the service but Mo's Irish Pub and Milwaukee Brat House in the downtown area do. Yes, Pfister has the ghosts but can be expensive. If you see a hotel that interests you it wouldn't hurt to e-mail or give them a call regarding if they ever provide shuttle service.
