  1. A Gennett/Weeks platoon would work in theory but I don't see it happening because of the clubhouse and the manager. If Gennett is going to get the majority of starts I think Weeks has to be gone.
  2. It really depends what you are looking for, do you want to stay in the burbs or be somewhere in the downtown area? There is usually a lot to do in Downtown Milwaukee during the summer and there are places downtown that have shuttles to the Brewer games. Hard to compare Milwaukee to NY or Boston, cabs are hard to find, there isn't a rail system and areas of downtown can be pretty dead at night. There is a mall downtown for your wife but it is on its last legs, plenty of restaurants and a couple of nice museums though. Basically need to know Milwaukee or burbs and can go from there. Public transportation isn't the best around here so if you stay in the burbs your options may be limited unless you rent a car.
  3. There wasn't much hurrah when the Brewers got win 82 either, they did it on the second to last game of the year but nobody really cared because a couple of weeks prior they were in first place but blew it.
  4. I absolutely can, when you are making an all time list and reducing it to one season I consider it flawed. I'm not going to do the research right now but I'm sure there are hall of famers that would end up on many of these same lists if this was done for every team.
  5. I actually agree with you, part of the problem is Ted Simmons would not be in the all time worst lineup. However if you take the worst season like the original poster did then he belongs. I'm not a big fan of taking an all time anything using one season unless that was the only season he was with the Brewers.
  6. Molina almost got hit the previous inning, looked like both benches were warned. I would guess he wasn't trying to hit Tony Sanchez, nobody made a big deal of it.
  7. At least I got to see Nelson pitch in this brutal game.
  8. I agree that the Yankees are a decent fit, they need somebody to play out there while A-Rod is gone in 2014 and I think Ramirez is a better option than signing another guy to a big contract. I don't think they have the prospects to get a guy like Headley or even Dominguez of the Astros. Considering that A-Rod may be gone for part of 2015 also the option year for Ramirez may not be a turn off either. Could then split time at 3B/DH with Rodriguez/Ramirez the second half of 2015.
  9. Bringing a championship to Milwaukee would, considering nobody has been able to do that in my lifetime.
  10. There is an ESPN Insider article that focuses on Molina and Lucroy and their pitch framing. The article notes Lucroy has been worth far more runs than any other player in the National League, topping Andrew McCutchen.
  11. I got rid of a 20 pack after 2011. It seems to work better for me to buy tickets on a game by game basis and if they are not any good I still go but at heavily discounted prices in August and September. Now if everybody did that I know the organization would be in trouble but to a degree they have brought it upon themselves with the discounted ticket promotions that they have on a regular basis.
  12. It is likely that Davis will consistently have 800 OPS seasons, would be comical to suggest that Aoki would have even 1 in his career.
  13. With the lack of any third base prospect even close to the majors I wouldn't automatically assume the Brewers wouldn't pick up the option in 2015. If he is healthy next year and puts up productive numbers that he has put up in 2012 and 2013 when healthy, $10 million extra isn't bad for one year. Of course if he has a productive and healthy 2014 he may decline the 2015 option and look for another contract in 2015. Either way I would not lump the $4 million into 2014.
  14. So, only young guys under 25 get worn out from the long season? How come veteran players don't get the excuse "He's just tired"? I guess I was hoping for too much as I've been unable to watch games for 6 weeks, I figured this board might actually supply a bit of insight. Read the post above you for veteran player example. Just because you don't like the reason doesn't mean it isn't a good one. Also Jean Segura is not a 900 OPS player so regression to the mean is expected.
  15. Now that they received Blazek I think the Brewers can also let Badenhopp walk or trade him if there is any interest, would save them probably a million bucks.
  16. Just curious, but can only moderators start in game threads?
  17. That would be nice but I just have this feeling that now that the Suns have cap room they will take on a contract and get a first round pick in return. For whatever reason when the Bucks take on salary they never seem to get a first.
  18. I don't think it is necessary to protect Richardson, I mean he is already 25 and only in A ball. Doesn't look like he has that much speed and no power. Is the ceiling on this guy maybe Michael Brantley? Why would somebody keep a guy like that on their roster a full year when he probably isn't going to be ready for the major for another three years when he is pushing 30.

  20. I would certainly rather have a top 5 pick versus a top 15 pick but the team is what it is at this point. They aren't going to make moves to better the team and I doubt they get rid of anybody after the Axford trade so I will root for the home team like always and just see where they end up.
  21. Crudale had pretty impressive numbers in the bigs, a 2 ERA in 73 innings, terrible in AAA though.
  22. As a fan I am okay with them not getting Teague because they would be a better team with them and I really don't want them to be good this year. As a GM it was a bad move, he should have paid a little bit more for the guy they really wanted in Teague, all those other guys you mentioned with the possible exception of Mayo is just filler. Any confidence I had in the GM is now gone based on his off season where he didn't really have much of a plan and is doing his usual throw a bunch of stuff against the wall.
  23. He couldn't be in the lineup if he wasn't on the team. As was done in Moneyball if you don't want a guy to play then don't give the manager the chance to play him. This one is on Melvin, should have released him a long time ago. If RR wants a righty first baseman then Melvin should make him choose between Halton/Lucroy/Maldonado/Davis.
  24. Just curious but with his major league time this year do the Brewers hold his rights for five more years or six.
  25. He does pass the eye test which surprised me. His approach at the plate is much better than I thought.
