  1. With 7 games to go in 2008 they were 2.5 games back of the Mets so it has happened before with the Brewers.
  2. I guess I consider should and need the same thing so I think they need/should go 7-3 to stay in the playoff picture but will go 5-5.
  3. To try to make it simple the Brewers pick their 25 man roster from a pool. The pool = 25 man roster at 8/31 + any 3 players because of Gamel/Narveson/Gonzalez on DL at 8/31 + replacements for injured players on DL after 8/31 like Rogers. The reason I say they can have whatever 25 man roster they want is because they have three open spots for anybody in the organization if they so choose. It probably won't even matter if Rogers officially goes on the DL or not because they already have three open spots that they can use.
  4. No they could replace Morgan but not sure why they would. They pick 25 from a pool greater than 25. In theory Bianchi could be picked instead of Morgan because he could take Gamel's spot. Edit: Bianchi was on team on August 31 so bad example, but still remains that Morgan or anybody else on the team on August 31 could be left off the playoff roster because the pool to choose from is greater than 25.
  5. Actually rule 40 now states Players who are on the 25-man roster, the major league DL, Suspend, Military, or the Bereavement List within a given organization on August 31 are eligible to be on that team's playoff roster. Other players are generally not eligible to be on the playoff roster. However, if a player in the organization is on the DL on August 31 and still on the DL at the end of the regular season, that player may be replaced on the playoff roster by any player that was in the organization as of August 31. Therefore it does not appear that the roster rules are as strict as they used to be. For example Chris Narveson is eligible to be on the playoff roster but will not be so a guy like Kintzler could be added since he was in the organization at August 31. Basically they can have whatever 25 man roster they want as long as they were with the organization at August 31.
  6. Rogers would have to be put on the disabled list and then any pitcher on the 40 man roster at August 31 can replace him, I don't believe he can be replaced with a position player, maybe Gonzalez can take his spot since he was on the disabled list at August 31 but not sure.
  7. Correct, the best they can be is 1.5 games out of first and the worst is 8.5 games out of first by the end of the day Sunday.
  8. I think that is what will hurt him the most, the individuals that leave him completely off the ballot.
  9. Certainly would rather have him than Parra, disappointing because the Brewers could certainly use a lefty like him in the pen.
  10. Certainly would rather have him than Parra, disappointing because the Brewers could certainly use a lefty like him in the pen.
  11. That is where I agree with slappzilla, there is a huge difference between being 3 games out and 5 games out with 21 to play. Difference is much bigger than the .5% you are stating.
  12. At this point Aoki has a better shot than Fiers but Frazier would have to be the front runner.
  13. I'm more concerned about the game Sunday, they pretty much have to win to have a chance, most important game of the year because of the two game swing.
  14. Pretty much, picking up one game isn't going to get the job done, picking up three gives them a fighting chance.
  15. Zack Greinke is 3-0 with a 1.66 ERA over his last three starts.
  16. Saw on Youtube the dark match where Cena brought in dressed up Macho Man into the ring and he got a huge ovation. Makes me sad that the real Macho Man never got that last ovation in the WWE.
  17. As the OP stated Burgos is up there in innings so that is why he wasn't called up. Why fly him to Milwaukee and then tell him he is shut down?
  18. Yeah they will need somebody to eat innings and will probably need to have Vargas start.
  19. My guess is he won't win the MVP unless he won the triple crown, so if he hits .500 the rest of the way he should win MVP.
  20. It's nice to dream but the starting pitching is going to look pretty bad in September if Marcum/Fiers/Rogers/Estrada are no longer pitching. If Yo gets a shot at 20 wins that would be great, it wouldn't be impossible for him to be 6-1 the rest of the way.
  21. Here is a nice little article about how consistently great Ryan Braun is. Could he be so consistent that he is boring to the rest of the country? http://blogs.thescore.com/mlb/2012/08/29/boring-old-ryan-braun/
  22. I don't think winning only hurts the team. If guys like Jeff Bianchi end up winning games for them that can also be used to evaluate if he should be on the team next year.
  23. Did your landlord remind you of the automatic renewal 15-30 days before May 1? If not, I would demand the $1,000 and request some of the rent back.
  24. So did anybody end up going to RAW yesterday? If so how was the dark match that they were advertising here locally.
