  1. There was an article this weekend that mentioned Urias and the Tigers but more a guy saying the Tigers should target Urias versus an actual rumor. https://motorcitybengals.com/posts/detroit-tigers-should-target-brewers-infielder-urias-01gjn07p08at
  2. Good to hear, would certainly like to see a 27 year old in his prime extended over a 30 year old pitcher like Woodruff.

  4. I can't imagine this is the case. A guy like Renfroe is a short term cost. Extending one of the pitchers and trading the other reduces payroll in the current year or the very least keeps it the same. If they extend a pitcher and trade one there better be a big free agent signing(s) or it's a fail and they really should trade both pitchers at that point instead of extending

  6. Nah, probably the least likely scenario. Nothing to see here
  7. I don't think that is the case because the Rockies will pay him. If his projected pay was more than his worth than nobody would have claimed him like Boxberger.
  8. It's not weird timing, today is the tender deadline. The Brewers didn't need the space for the rule 5 guys anyway, they never got to 40. They just anticipate using the spots down the road.
  9. That has always been the rule as far as I remember. For whatever reason many always say the player has to be offered back to the original team, however before being offered back that player is put on waivers. Subsequent season means 2023 for this year's draft. If the player clears then goes back to the original team if they want them. It doesn't mean the player can't be optioned in future years if added to the 40 man in the future.
  10. There are not quality third basemen available. I guess Justin Turner may fall into that category but he is declining offensively and defensively and has trouble staying on the field as well getting older. Abreu is more of a DH and the Brewers do need somebody there.

  12. Related to adding to the 40 man deadline, David Hamilton who the Red Sox obtained for Hunter Renfroe was added to their 40 man. I don't know if he will ever hit enough to be a major league regular but 70/78 in stolen bases is pretty impressive.

  14. But then he would have to be in the majors in 2024. I think there is the possibility a bad team could take him but the cost/benefit isn't there for the Brewers, a team trying to win in 2023.
  15. Bell hasn't really been a lefy masher throughout his career, would be a bad allocation of resources in my opinion. I think Abreu would fit great on this team if they could obtain him for one or two years. The risk is there for a swift decline because of age but could really use that right handed bat that actually hits against left handed and right handed pitchers. I'm not the biggest Tellez fan but do recognize his stats could see a nice uptick next year combining new rules and better luck.

  17. It certainly doesn't mean that, it's very easy to DFA him if they find an upgrade. In the press conference they are not going to say they are keeping him around until they find something better, it is always going to be a positive spin for the player.

  19. Doubt it, they will sign more guys before Spring Training plus there will be more room on Friday as they won't be tendering a contract to all of their guys.

  21. Disappointed they didn't add Robinson because I think he will get selected and believe he would have been recalled at some point next season by the Brewers anyways. Not even considering the tender/non tender pitching candidates I would rather have Robinson on the 40 man over Jason Alexander/Trevor Kelley/Tyson Miller.

  23. Carr was productive for Houston after the Brewers got rid of him, kind of surprised his career just ended after the season. Getting a HR against Smoltz in the NLDS is a nice final at bat though. Sad seeing the picture at jsonline since both Gerald Williams and Chuck Carr are no longer with us.
  24. I don't think the Brewers picked up Wong's option with intention to trade so think they will try to compete this year. Unlikely Turang gets a starting role anywhere on the infield pending injury. The 2.9 at bats per game from Peterson was mentioned and I would have no problem if that is what Turang ends up getting, he could still be a very valuable and productive player in that role. I would hope the Brewers are not too concerned with super 2 status with Turang, wouldn't even mind if begins the year on the opening day roster as unlikely he goes through his option years without ever being optioned.
  25. That 1990 Brewers team was miserable but Rob Robinson never pitched better than the time he was with the Brewers in 1990, gave some hope he would be a starter for years to come but that was not in the cards. Bob Sebra also provided some excitement that year when he started that brawl with the Mariners at the Kingdome. He didn't pitched an inning in the majors after that.
