  1. Reviewing the Brew on Twitter indicates only Ruiz leaving, that is a heck of a deal if true.
  2. Adames would be a huge overpay so not worried about him.
  3. Right now the Brewers are getting about 38 and giving up only about 5. Somebody big is exiting the Brewers organization
  4. Have to imagine a couple of top prospects heading out as Contreras is a real good get. Would have thought Braves would dump Travis d'Arnaud.
  5. It's just a rumor but reminds me of when the Brewers were linked to Kenny Lofton and even looked like he would sign here. The then Guardians then sign him and Marquis Grissom is traded here instead. So if this really goes down I imagine Braves get Murphy and the Brewers get one of the catchers from the Braves.
  6. I think the Brewers got a little lucky with Wong last year, he declined rapidly defensively and had a great offensive year that he can likely never repeat ever again. Upside is higher with Winker, he was a 900 OPS guy before, not sure he will ever get there again but being in the 800 range would be a real boost for this lineup and a huge upgrade over McCutchen. I don't doubt Winker had a bad attitude last year being hurt all of the time, I'm sure it was frustrating. However, as a 29 year old upcoming free agent he has a lot to gain by having a good year. Not only would he need bad character, he would also have to be an idiot not to do everything he can to have a successful 2023. I truly believe the Brewers will get the best season Winker will have for the rest of his career.
  7. I think Ashby and one of Mitchell/Taylor/Turang is fair for Murphy. If the Brewers are out of their window after year 2 could trade him for some pretty decent prospects too. Of course the Brewers are not going to offer Hedbert Perez for Pina, the Braves will be lucky to have somebody take him for nothing. Also agree on Feliciano, not a lot of love, just that this is his last option year so he needs to show he can be a major league caliber player.
  8. Absolutely, I hear the extension talk a lot but don't believe it will impact current year payroll much at all, It doesn't make much sense to dump payroll this year to sign guys to extensions. It is the long term commitment that is the risk for the Brewers. Yelich isn't really a bad contract for 2023 it is more that he will be taking a big chunk of the payroll into the late 2020's.
  9. He has to be put through waivers first though. Another team may want to take a closer look and claim him.
  10. With these large contracts given to starting pitchers I do have to give credit to the Brewers for trying to lock up starters like Peralta and Ashby. Would have been nice to have done the same to one of Burnes/Woodruff as well, do wonder if they ever came close to reaching an extension.
  11. Yeah, I don't know what they are doing there. MLB Trade rumors project him 5.3 million. Cot's even shows his service time at 4.004 so not sure why they would put him as arbitration year 2 of 4. Tellez will be at 5.004 at end of 2023 and 6..004 and free agent at end of 2024.
  12. I guess it is only for 1 year but pretty bad deal for the Cubs.
  13. This is 2/3 arbitration years for Tellez, think the projected salary this year is low as well. Your overall point still stands though.
  14. I would have liked Bell in season last year but think there is a pretty good chance both Tellez and Winker out perform him this year offensively. The Brewers also get both Winker/Tellez for less than the price of Bell.
  15. Will be interesting to see what kind of money he gets. Was expecting somebody to give him a decent contracts but surprised by the A's. Glad he was able to cash in on a good season but don't expect him to do much there.
  16. After thinking about the Brewers moves so far I really wish they never traded Renfroe. I think it is correct that Winker is more of a DH and if that is the case could still have Renfroe in RF and a guy that hits lefties. In some ways this seems like the last chance for this group of players to make a playoff push so could have had Renfroe for one more year in the middle of the lineup like they are doing with Winker. Could then have some sort of platoon of Taylor/Mitchell in CF with Frelick ready to step in if the CF struggle or somebody else in the OF/Winker gets hurt.
  17. Would not happen but would consider taking 21 year old Malcom Nunez in the rule 5 draft next week to play the Hiura role of last year that did not work of facing LHP as a DH/1B. Could also have a potential Rowdy replacement down the road as well. Makes more sense than Jon Singleton on this team.
  18. No, they actually learned from last year when they had the right handed McCutchen as.the full time DH.
  19. I like this move a lot if Winker is healthy but the neck is a major concern. If healthy Winker will go off during a contract year, can live with his attitude for a year. Plays the correct side of the platoon, unlike McCutchen last year.
  20. Jace was 30 when he cam to the Brewers. I actually think the Brewers need guys like Cam Devanney to produce if they are going to be successful, get them cheap in their prime years and then get rid of them on the other side of 30 when they start to decline and get expensive. Again, he appears to be a sure fire callup during 2023 if he stays in the organization so they should have just protected him.
  21. Jackson was out of options so like Pablo he wasn't long for the 40 man.
  22. I probably like Cam more than Brosseau at this point as he can actually play good infield defense. Just seems obvious he will be called up next year at some point when guys get injured so might as well add him to the 40 man now.
  23. He may be worth more than $6 million cap difference but not worth the extra $17 million they would pay him next year. Don't see why he wouldn't be open to a pay cut unless he is really done and doesn't want to play anymore.
  24. MLB Trade Rumors was right on point with their $20 million a year but he was able to get a third year. Obviously no way the Brewers were going to give him that.
